Cassian's POV

My men had been searching the city for nearly twenty-four hours with no results. It was as if she had vanished into thin air. Silas is still not talking.

The door to my office opened, and Viktor entered without knocking—a breach of protocol that told me he had news.

"Boss," he said, his expression grim. "Silas is asking to speak with you. I think he is ready to cooperate. "

I was on my feet before he finished speaking. "What are you waiting for then lead the way"

" But boss—" Viktor hesitated, choosing his words carefully. "He seems... different. Almost amused by the situation."

A dark anger surged through me. If Silas knew where Aria was and had been withholding that information...

"Keep searching," I instructed Viktor. "Follow every lead, call in every favor. I want her found."

Viktor nodded and left, closing the door behind him. I downed the rest of my whiskey in one swallow, welcoming the burn as a counterpoint to the cold rage that had settled in my chest.

Cassian's POVI checked my watch for the third time in five minutes. Lion's text had come through with coordinates to an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city. Typical. These fuckers always picked the most cliché locations for their dramatics."Boss," Viktor's voice came through my earpiece. "We've got eyes on all exits. No sign of her yet, but we've identified at least seven of Lion's men positioned around the perimeter.""Keep them in your sights," I ordered. "No one moves until I give the signal."I adjusted the bulletproof vest under my jacket. The black duffel bag in my hand is filled with just enough cash."Remember," I added, "Aria's safety is the priority. If things go south, get her out first. We can deal with Lion and his men after.""Understood," Viktor confirmed.I ended the call and stepped out of the car, scanning the area. The main entrance was left ajar, just as Lion's text had indicated. I pushed it open with my foot, the metal door creaking."Come in, Roma

CassianThe drive to the safe house felt like an eternity. When we finally arrived, I carried Aria inside, refusing to let anyone else touch her. The doctor was waiting for us, an older woman with calm and experienced eyes."Put her on the bed," she instructed me, already opening her medical bag. "And then I need you to step out while I examine her."I hesitated, reluctant to leave Aria's side."She's safe now," the doctor said gently. "Let me help her."Reluctantly, I laid Aria on the bed and stepped back. "I'll be right outside," I told the doctor.I paced the hallway like a caged animal while the doctor worked, my mind racing with dark thoughts. How many times had she called for help? How many times had she wondered if anyone was coming for her? The door opened after what felt like hours, and the doctor emerged, the expression on her face grave."How is she?" I demanded."She is dehydrated, malnourished, and exhausted," the doctor replied. "Multiple contusions, a sprained wrist, a

Aria's POV I sensed him before I opened my eyes. Despite wanting to keep pretending I was asleep, curiosity won out. I cracked my eyes open just enough to see him standing there, staring at me without blinking. The bruises on my body throbbed with each heartbeat. It’s been hours since he'd rescued me from Lion, and everything still hurt. Will I ever be free? The thought hit me like a punch to the gut. Would there always be another ordeal waiting for me? Another psycho ready to use me as leverage against Cassian or my father? Why did he save me anyway? Was I just property he needed to recover? Or did he actually care? God, I was so tired of not knowing where I stood. Before I could stop them, tears spilled down my cheeks. I heard his footsteps coming closer, but I couldn't hold back the sobs anymore. Everything hurt—my body, my heart, my trust. The bed dipped as he sat beside me. His voice, usually so commanding, went soft in a way I'd never heard before."Please don't cry." He reache

AriaCassian drove in silence as I stared out the window. The coastal road curved upward, climbing a steep cliff that overlooked the ocean. Eventually, he pulled over at a lookout point where the entire coastline stretched out below us."Come on," he said, getting out of the car.The wind whipped my hair around my face as I followed him to the guardrail. The view was breathtaking—endless blue water meeting the horizon, city lights looking just like stars. We stood there, not speaking. The crash of waves against rocks hundreds of feet below was all I could hear."If you could go anywhere in this world, where would you go?" Cassian asked suddenly.I glanced at him, caught off guard. "Why are you asking?""I want to know." His eyes stayed on the ocean.I turned back to the view, thinking. "I’ve always been drawn to the ocean," I finally said. "A bit quieter than this. A little house where I could wake up and see the water every morning."He nodded. "Sounds like a place of peace.""Yeah."

AriaThe safe house was surprisingly homey for a place owned by someone like Cassian. Overstuffed furniture, wooden beams across the ceiling, large windows overlooking the ocean. If circumstances were different, it might have been romantic.Minutes later, he returned with a plate of sandwiches and a glass of orange juice. "Here you go. This should tide you over."I took the plate, our fingers brushing. We both pretended not to notice. "Thank you," I said softly. I meant it for more than just the food.He nodded, taking a seat across from me instead of beside me. "I ordered Chinese takeout. It should be here soon.""That sounds great." I took a bite of the sandwich, suddenly ravenous. It was simple—turkey, cheese, lettuce—but right then, it tasted better than any five-star meal. "I'll get dressed before it arrives."In the bedroom. I changed into sweats and a t-shirt, both too big for me. Cassian's clothes. I'd grown accustomed to wearing them, to being surrounded by his scent.Freedom

CassianHer soft hands reached out, tentative at first, as if unsure of their place. Her touch against my arm sent a current through my body, her thumb tracing patterns that felt like whispers against my skin.As she climbed onto the bed, a fragrance of rosewood and vanilla enveloped me, a scent that felt like coming home after years in exile. At first, she tried to maintain a respectable distance. But when I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her closer, she didn't resist. She shifted in my arms, turning to face me. In the dim light, her eyes were luminous, searching mine. "Kiss me," she breathed, barely audible.Everything in me went still. Did I hear her right?"Aria...""Please," she whispered. "I need to know what it's like... when it's my choice."Those words shattered my resolve. After everything she'd been through—being taken against her will, being used as leverage, being beaten by Lion—she was asking for something on her terms. How could I deny her that?Slowly, giving her

He helped me, kicking them off before settling back between my thighs. The feel of him—hot and heavy against me—made me whimper with renewed desire."Protection?" I managed to ask, my brain still functioning enough for that much common sense.Cassian reached over to the nightstand, fumbling for a condom. I watched, entranced, as he rolled it on. Then he was positioning himself at my entrance, the blunt head of his cock pressing against me."Look at me," he commanded softly. I did, our eyes locking as he pushed inside, stretching me in a way that walked the exquisite line between pleasure and pain."Oh god," I breathed as he filled me completely, my body adjusting to his size.Cassian held still, giving me time to get used to the size of him, his arms trembling with the effort of restraint. "You okay?" he asked, concern lacing his voice."Better than okay," I assured him, rolling my hips experimentally. The movement drew a groan from him that I felt all the way to my core. "Please move

AriaI woke up the next morning reaching for Cassian who wasn't there. My hand stretched across cool sheets, finding nothing but emptiness where Cassian's body should have been. For a moment, I wondered if last night had been a dream—the way his hands had moved over my skin, how he'd whispered my name against my neck, the feeling of completeness when our bodies joined. But the pleasant ache between my thighs confirmed it had been very real. The bedroom was silent except for the distant sound of waves crashing outside. I slipped out of bed, wrapping one of the sheets around my naked body. The hardwood floor was cold against my bare feet as I padded toward the bathroom. In the mirror, I barely recognized myself. My hair was a wild mess, lips slightly swollen and red from Cassian's kisses. Fading bruises from Lion's attack contrasted with fresh love marks Cassian had left. The sight made heat rise to my cheeks. After a quick shower, I borrowed one of Cassian's t-shirts again. I inhaled d

Aria's POV"I was beginning to lose my patience," Dom says, his eyes narrowing as he glares at the woman who just entered. She strides in with a confidence that makes my skin crawl, her bright orange hair cascading down her shoulders like liquid fire. The leather mini-skirt she's wearing barely covers anything, and her top—if you could call that scrap of fabric a top—leaves nothing to the imagination. Her breasts strain against the thin material, and I notice Cassian deliberately averting his gaze.Charlie walks directly to Dom and plants a kiss on his lips that's anything but familial. Her tongue visibly slides against his, her hand gripping his hair as she moans into his mouth. My stomach churns at the display."Did I miss anything fun, brother?" Charlie asks when she finally pulls away, a string of saliva still connecting their lips. Her eyes gleam with perverse enjoyment as she catches my horrified expression."Brother?" The word escapes my lips before I can stop it.Charlie's la

Cassian's POVThe hot water pounded against my skin, washing away the sweat from my workout but doing nothing for the tension knotting my shoulders. Viktor was awake. The relief I felt was so overwhelming I had to brace myself against the shower wall for a moment. And Aria—Christ, the way she looked at me when she told me. There was something there, beneath the anger. A crack in her armor that gave me hope, even if I didn't deserve it.I turned off the water and stepped out, reaching for a towel when a strange smell hit me. My vision blurred instantly, and alarm bells screamed in my head. Gas. Someone had pumped gas into the bathroom."Aria!" I shouted, lunging for the door. My legs gave out before I could reach it, my body betraying me as consciousness slipped away. The last thought that raced through my mind was her name, a prayer and a curse rolled into one.*****The cold metal chains bite into my wrists, but the pain is nothing compared to the fury boiling inside me. AriaI know what you're thinking. Trust me, I do. But you don't live my life. You don't know what it's like to love a man like Cassian—complicated, dangerous, infuriating—a man who can break me and heal me in the same breath. I love him, and I hate that I love him, because it's never just simple with us. Every touch feels like salvation and damnation rolled into one. It's the way he makes me feel that keeps me tethered. His touch... God, it's not just skin-deep. It's as if he's caressing every scar I've ever tried to hide, touching the parts of me that no one else sees, not even me sometimes. When his hands glide over my skin, it's like he's mapping out my heart, piece by shattered piece. He makes me feel alive, like I'm burning from the inside out. And maybe that's why I'm still here, even when my mind is screaming at me to run.I can't explain it, but when he looks at me, it's like the world stops, and there's only us. He knows exactly how to pull me apart and put me back together a

Cassian's POVI stared at the glass of whiskey in my hand, the temptation swirling inside the amber liquid like a dark, comforting promise. But after a moment, I shook my head, tipping the glass over the sink, watching as it splashed down the drain. It would've been so easy to drown everything in that glass—the guilt, the regret, the endless spiral of what-ifs—but easy had never been my way.The burn in my side was a constant reminder of how close I'd come to losing everything—my life, my brother, and now, possibly Aria. I gritted my teeth against the pain as I made my way down the hallway to her room. Each step was a struggle, both physically and mentally, but I pushed forward.I stood outside her door for what felt like an eternity, my hand raised to knock but frozen in place. The fear of her rejection was almost paralyzing. Finally, I let my knuckles rap against the wood.Silence.I knocked again, harder this time. "Aria," I called out. "Please."More silence.Fuck this.I twisted

Aria's POV"I want to sleep alone tonight," I told him.Cassian didn't argue. He just nodded, that unreadable mask sliding over his face. The one I'd seen more times than I cared to admit. He walked me to the door of my old room, his steps slow. When we reached the door, his hand found mine."Aria, please don't do this," he said, his voice low, full of an urgency that made my chest tighten. "We need to talk. Please, babe. Ask me anything, and I'll tell you. I promise."I took a deep breath, the words I had been holding back for too long finally rising to the surface. "Cassian, I already know you didn’t trust or like Shadow," I said, forcing the words out. "I could tell from the beginning. So why did you want him to stay with me?"His eyes darkened,—regret, maybe?—crossing his face. But he stayed quiet, waiting for me to continue.I pressed on, needing to get the words out before I lost my nerve."I love you, Cassian. I do. You know that," I went on, my voice trembling. "I'd do anythin

  • The Mafia Debt   Chapter 97: If I Could Trade My Pain

Cassian's POVThe antiseptic smell of Nikolai's private clinic clung to the air, sterile and suffocating. I couldn't help but feel the weight of it as I sat in the small, office, waiting for the doctor to finish his report. Nikolai, a man in his late forties with salt-and-pepper hair and a Russian accent, flipped through my chart, his brow furrowed in concentration. His expression was professional, but I could see the strain behind his eyes. This wasn't his first time patching me up, and it definitely wouldn't be the last."You're lucky with your shoulder," he finally said, closing the file and setting it on the desk between us. "The bullet went clean through, missing anything vital. The knife wound in your side, however—that's going to need close monitoring. You'll need to take it easy for a while, but with your stubbornness, I know you'll make a full recovery.""Thanks, Nikolai," I muttered, more out of habit than gratitude. My mind was elsewhere. "What about Aria? How is she?"Nik

AriaWe were standing at the outskirts of the warehouse, waiting for the car that Dom was supposed to bring.I wrapped my arms around myself, trying to hold in the unease that had settled deep in my bones. The night air was cold against my skin, making the dried blood on my temple feel tight and uncomfortable."Where the fuck is he?" Cassian muttered, pressing his phone to his ear. "Viktor, Dom's not answering. Get your ass here now."Cassian was barking orders with the urgency of a man who had never been fatally injured. It was hard to believe that only hours ago he had been on the brink of death, blood pooling beneath him as I desperately tried to keep him alive. Now, there was no trace of the vulnerability that had gripped him earlier—except for the way he occasionally winced when he moved too quickly, his hand instinctively going to his bandaged side. After ending the call, he turned to me. His expression softened, the hard lines of his face easing just a fraction. "You okay, babe

Viktor's POV"Shadow?"There he stood—the man we'd trusted with our secrets, with Aria's safety—smiling at me like we were meeting for the first time. A cold, calculating smile that had no place on the face of a brother-in-arms."Surprise," he said, spreading his arms in a mocking gesture. "Not who you expected, huh?"I kept my gun trained on his chest, struggling to make sense of what I was seeing. "What the fuck is this? Why would you—?""Turn on the almighty Romanos?" Shadow finished, his tone dripping with contempt. "Maybe I got tired of being the lapdog. Maybe I wanted more.""More what?" I growled, taking a cautious step forward, making sure to keep myself between him and Cassian's bleeding body. "Money? Power? We gave you everything."Shadow laughed. "You gave me scraps, Viktor. Scraps from your table while you and Cassian lived like kings."I stared at him, trying to reconcile this stranger with the man who'd fought beside us for years. "We trusted you. Aria's POVWhere am I?The question came in my mind as soon as my consciousness creeps back, my eyelids heavy like lead. The room swims into focus—dim light filtering through a single dirty window. My body screams with every tiny movement, and I taste copper on my cracked lips."Hello?" I call out, my voice barely a rasp. "Is anyone there?"I try to push myself upright, biting back a cry as pain lances through my ribs. That's when I see him. He's sprawled in the corner, one hand clutching his side, dark blood seeping between his fingers. His face is ghostly pale, eyes closed, chest barely moving."Cassian!" I gasp, scrambling toward him, ignoring how my own body protests.I don't remember moving, just suddenly being there beside him, my trembling hands hovering over his wound. His shirt is soaked through with blood, the fabric torn where a blade must have entered."Cassian," His skin is cold, clammy. "Baby, can you hear me?"His eyelids flutter, a small groan escaping his lips. Relief
