~Alina’s POV~

The whispers of a cultist group called the Bloodhounds had been growing louder, their name staining every corner of the underworld.

Their cruelty, silent killings, and the way they moved through cities like shadows were enough to unsettle even the most powerful of men.

Every week, someone new disappeared, and every family feared their reach.

I rose slowly, slipping my hand into Valentino’s. His grip was steady and warm, the kind that always made me feel safe even when everything around us wasn’t.

I tried to smile. “Let’s get this meeting over with.”

He looked down at me, and for the first time that morning, a faint grin touched his lips.

“Now,” he said softly. “That’s my Donna speaking.”

We didn’t waste time after that.

A few minutes later, we were ready to leave.

Valentino had changed into his usual black shirt and trousers, the kind of outfit that made people move out of his way without a word.

His sleeves were rolled up, showing the veins and tattoos along his forearm

~Alina’s POV~My heart plummeted into my stomach as the words struck, leaving me dizzy, my head spinning so violently I thought I might faint.Beside me, Val went utterly still. The cigar between his fingers nearly slipped, but he caught it with a sharp reflex before tucking it back between his lips.A dry, disbelieving scoff escaped me. Then I burst into laughter.Bitter, hysterical, and sharp. No… no, I must have heard that wrong.I tipped my head back, laughter ripping through my chest until it echoed across the silent chamber.“Something amusing in my words, Donna?” Don Enzo’s voice carried, old and grave, but tinged with irritation.I leaned forward, my body shaking with laughter as I slumped over the table.“Amusing?” I choked, my smile venomous. “Do you even hear yourself? Do you understand the filth you just dared to spew in my presence?”“Respect in the council,” Don De Luca snapped, his shrill voice cutting through the room.I turned my head slowly, pinning him with a look

  • The Mafia Devil’s Contractual Wife    124. The New Beginning

~Alina’s POV~ It’s been three years. Three years of love, laughter, warmth, and memories. And three years of pain, grief, and loss. The cold Milanese morning swept across the terrace, sharp enough to sting my cheeks and whip the hem of my gown against my legs. I pulled the fabric tighter around me, but nothing could shield me from the storm inside my chest. Then slowly I lowered myself onto the bare stone floor, hugging my knees, trying to make myself smaller, quieter, invisible. Tears poured hot and unchecked, slipping past my lashes and down my face until they blurred the glittering skyline of the waking city below. My sobs echoed against the terrace walls, muffled when I buried my face into the crook of my arm. My body shook so violently that my teeth chattered. This wasn’t the marriage I imagined. Not this. Not us like this. The first time I lost a child, I blamed myself. The doctors had said it was food, something my body couldn’t handle. I punished myse

~ALINA’S POV~ Alessia stood just a few steps away, tears streaking her perfectly made-up face, her arms trembling at her sides like she no longer knew what to do with them.Giulia halted just few steps away from her, beads of tears gushing down her cheeks. The silence between them stretched, fragile and tense. I felt Val’s hand press gently against the small of my back, grounding me, steadying me, and I could sense Rocco just behind us, respectfully quiet. Still, Giulia said nothing. So Alessia began. “I don’t expect you to forgive me,” she said, her voice hoarse, though not broken. “And maybe you never will. But I came tonight because someone reminded me of the kind of mother I should’ve been.” Her eyes drifted toward Dante, who stood quietly behind Giulia, his expression unreadable but his presence firm. “He called me last night,” Alessia continued, her gaze returning to her daughter. “Told me everything. About how strong you’ve become. About Nana…” Her voice cracked. “How

  • The Mafia Devil’s Contractual Wife    122. Unexpected Guest

~ALINA’S POV~ The sun had dipped, outside the hall flickered to life, painting soft pools of gold across the marble. It was almost 6 p.m., and the wedding was winding down, the hall behind us echoing with the fading laughter of guests and the soft clink of champagne glasses. I stood by Valentino at the entrance, my hand resting lightly on his arm, his warmth grounding me in the midst of the gentle chaos. Beside us, Dante and Giulia stood close, greeting guests as they trickled out, each goodbye soft and lingering, like the end of a beautiful movie you didn’t want to finish. Giulia leaned into Dante, whispering something that made him smirk, her laughter soft and light and her eyes glowing in the fading light. Val’s warmth anchored me, his thumb brushing circles against the back of my hand as he murmured polite gratitude to the Dons, business partners, and old family friends who came to offer blessings before stepping out into the waiting line of sleek black cars. “Thank

~VALENTINO’S POV~The hallway beside the grand hall was quiet, the muted strains of violin music and distant laughter filtering through the thick doors as I stood with Don Nikolai. For a moment, he simply looked at me, the weight of years and regret in his cold blue eyes. The light from the crystal sconces cut across the lines on his face, and I saw not the feared Don of Russia but a father searching for the right words.“I’ve wronged you,” he said, his voice low, rough with emotion. “Not once, not twice, but all your life, Tino.”I swallowed, my jaw tightening, but I said nothing. He let out a breath, his gaze dropping to the floor before meeting mine again.“Your mother… Farah… she deserved better. You deserved better. I let power blind me, let fear make decisions I should have made with my heart, not my ambition.”I shifted, shoving my hands into my pockets, letting him speak.“I don’t know if I deserve forgiveness,” he continued, his voice cracking slightly, “but I will ask for i
