Hate to Love

When Elena Rossi's family shipping empire collapses under crushing debt, she is left with one impossible choice: lose everything—or marry the most feared man controlling the Savona harbor. Dante Moretti is ruthless, powerful, and accustomed to getting what he wants. His proposal to Elena isn't about love. It's a contract designed to protect his empire and give her family a chance to survive. They enter a contract marriage as enemies, each determined to protect their own interests. But the harbor is already a battlefield. As rival mafia families launch financial attacks, sabotage port operations, expose buried secrets, and threaten everything Elena has left, she discovers that surviving beside Dante requires more than courage. It requires intelligence, independence, and the willingness to fight back. Dante expects a compliant wife. Instead, he gets an intelligent, decisive woman who can challenge him at the negotiation table—and stand beside him when the guns come out. What begins as a Hate to Love contract slowly becomes something neither of them planned. Because in a world ruled by power, betrayal, and blood, the most dangerous thing they can possess isn't the harbor. It's trust. Married to Mafia is a fast-paced Dark Romance filled with Drama, Mystery, Finance, Girl Power, Betrayal, and Love After Marriage.

The Broken Transit

Rain beat against the iron gantry of Pier 6, coating the Savona container terminal in salt spray and diesel exhaust.

Elena Rossi wiped a streak of grease from her cheek, her steel-toed boots gripping the wet rungs of the ladder fifty feet above the quay. On the high platform, Container Crane 4 sat dead, its steel boom locked halfway through a turn over the cargo bay. Down on the concrete pavement, blue emergency lights from two customs patrol cruisers flashed against the dark hull of the freighter moored below.

Beside Arthur Rossi's rusted sedan stood Gianni Vanezi.

Gianni wore a heavy leather trench coat, water pooling in the folds as he leaned against the sedan's front fender. He chewed on a wooden toothpick, watching Arthur wave his arms in frantic, wide circles. Arthur's voice vanished beneath the roar of the harbor wind.

Elena reached the bottom rung, stepping into the shallow puddles covering the tarmac. She planted herself between her father and the Vanezi enforcer.

"Container 402 holds an unbroken customs seal, Gianni. You lack the legal authority to freeze our quay operations."

Gianni spat his toothpick onto the wet pavement, his leather coat creaking as he straightened.

"Arthur's quay clearance expired at midnight, Miss Rossi. Two hours ago, your father signed a bill of sale transferring Pier 6 berth rights to Vanezi Logistics for six hundred thousand dollars."

Elena turned toward her father, the breath leaving her lungs in a sharp gasp. Three weeks of six-hour sleep cycles, auditing tax ledgers, and restructuring short-term credit lines evaporated in a single sentence.

"You signed our berth rights away?"

Arthur stared at his wet shoe leather, his hands shaking inside his coat pockets.

"Genoa bailiffs threatened an immediate asset seizure by morning, Elena. Gianni offered a direct wire transfer. I had no choice."

"He bought your signature for ten cents on the dollar."

Elena turned back to Gianni, her jaw tight.

"Six hundred thousand dollars fails to cover three months of port maintenance fees. Those berth rights form primary collateral for the Moretti syndicate under our 2018 credit agreement."

Gianni flashed a crooked gold tooth.

"Arthur failed his solvency test. Don Salvatore wants this quay cleared before sunrise. Pay six hundred thousand dollars in cash right now or my crew takes the crane keys and the warehouse ledgers."

Two mechanics stepped from behind the Customs shed, heavy iron wrenches resting across their forearms. One mechanic held a set of red steel padlock chains, already wrapped around the base of Crane 4's primary electrical box.

A black SUV pulled to a stop behind the patrol cruisers.

Dante Moretti stepped into the headlight glare, his hands buried deep inside a dark wool overcoat. Rain slicked his short hair against his skull, highlighting the jagged pale scar tracing his jaw down into his collar. Marco followed twenty paces behind, scanning the crane rafters with his hands inside his jacket.

Dante bypassed Gianni completely, walking to the base of Crane 4. He crouched in the pool of oil beneath the gantry frame, examining the brass fittings near the hydraulic housing.

"A three-quarter inch spanner loosened the secondary pressure bypass valve. Lowering that container drops twelve tons of structural steel straight into the main fuel line."

Gianni shifted his weight, his right hand hooking into his coat lining.

"Step off the pier, Moretti. This remains a private commercial settlement between Vanezi Logistics and Rossi Freight."

"Rossi Freight owes my syndicate forty-nine million dollars."

Dante stood up, tossing a grease-stained rag onto the crane engine block.

"Italian maritime code grants a primary lien holder forty-eight hours to veto asset transfers. Your uncle drafted a worthless piece of paper."

He turned his attention to Elena. Cold gray eyes studied her face, taking in her wet raincoat, the grease on her cheek, and the ledger folder clamped under her arm.

"Your father ran this company into bankruptcy, Miss Rossi."

Elena took a step toward him, rainwater pooling in her collar. Anger burned hot behind her ribs, but she forced her voice into a flat, analytical register.

"Rossi Freight can file an emergency ninety-day standstill with the Genoa tribunal. I restructure our short-term debt and run a secondary audit on our logistics accounts. That generates enough operational cash flow to cover your interest installments within three months."

Dante raised his hand, pointing toward the harbor mouth where two dark tugboats sat tied to the outer breakwater.

"Your standstill plan dies before the ink dries on the petition. Salvatore Vanezi bought the local tugboat crew union two days ago. Ships over five hundred tons stay stuck in this basin without tugboat escorts. You cannot audit past a physical blockade."

Gianni barked a harsh laugh, spitting onto the tarmac.

"You hear the Don, girl? Your numbers mean nothing."

Dante pivoted toward Gianni, his shadow swallowing the enforcer.

"Go back to your uncle, Gianni. Tell him if a Vanezi mechanic sets foot on Pier 6 again tonight, I impound every fuel barge your family operates in Liguria."

Gianni glanced at Marco, whose hand rested flat against his suit jacket. Cursing under his breath, Gianni signaled his mechanics. They climbed into their truck, tires spinning on the wet asphalt as they sped toward the main gate.

The customs officer stepped forward, pressing a red wax seal onto the electrical box of Crane 4.

"Pier 6 remains under physical impound until the Genoa court opens at eight o'clock tomorrow morning."

Arthur collapsed against the sedan's rear bumper, weeping into his wet sleeves.

Elena stood frozen in the rain, looking at the red customs seal. Her standstill plan was dead, her father's company was insolvent, and Pier 6 was officially locked down.

Dante gestured toward the lit glass doors of the port authority building.

"Get out of the rain, Miss Rossi. We have twenty minutes to settle your options before the Genoa court opens."
