Dilemma.

Kaiden:

Chaos erupts. Shouts ring out as bullets rain from above, the sounds echoing off the walls.

People throw themselves to the ground, taking cover under the sparse tables available. The air is filled with the smell of gunpowder.

What idiot brought a gun to the Palace? This is a neutral ground and this quarterly dinner is a way to forge alliances.

Without our weapons and bodyguards, we're left open to this attack. The lights have plunged us into a red haze, making it impossible for me to see a few feet in front of me.

Some of the Dons are guarding their wives and significant others, their bodies forming a shield around them.

We are all crouched on the floor, unsure of where the shots are coming from. Someone's trigger-happy, but even amid the chaos I notice that no one has been hit.

The top echelon of crime is in this room and no one wants to make a stupid mistake that will lead to an all-out war.

My mind is racing.

I fold my arms over my chest and pin him with a glare. He grabs my arm and tugs me to the couch, urging me to sit. I relent and he sits down beside me. "In exchange for full access to Kyklos whenever he needs it."

    Kaiden:Daisy nods, and a small sense of satisfaction settles in my chest. Getting up, I reach for the tray filled with empty wraps of biscuits and cookies, but I am intercepted by Daisy.
