Chapter 2

Sarah Li was astonished when she opened the door of the room she was assigned. She knew that the room next to Catherine’s must be a good one. But, she didn’t expect it would be this good.

 The room looked even bigger than those in the fancy hotels. The room mainly contained white color which gave her a peaceful feeling that she hasn’t felt for so long. The floor was all covered by thick and soft carpet. It even had a bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. It was the first time for her to reside in this type of room.

After a while, she slapped her cheeks, shook her head, and murmured, “Wake up, Sarah! Now get these shits out of your head and return to your duty of protecting Cathy.” With that, she went to have a bath and prepared to have some sleep too.

Outside:

The driver was waiting for Christian outside the car holding its door open. Christian sat inside the car and closed his eyes as he was tired. The car was driving to Ricci corporation which was owned by him.

While taking the rest, he suddenly thought of Sarah Li and remembered their very first encounter. At that time, she was just a young girl and looked very thin and famished. She had stolen a bun from a store and the shopkeeper was chasing her while cursing at her.

When she ran into him that time, her eyes were full of fears but there was also determination in her eyes to live. She was tightly holding into the bun she had stolen and was looking at her surrounding with wary eyes.

It would be a lie if he said that he was not surprised seeing her determination and he even had an urge to protect her. It was the feeling he had never felt for anyone else than his sister. Even he, himself was surprised by his feelings that time.

When he asked her if she would like to come with him, the first thing she asked was, “Will I get to eat?” Christian still remembers her smile when he had nodded to her question. He had told her that

if she followed him, then even if she got to eat she may have to work very hard. There was not even an ounce of hesitation in her eyes when she decided to follow him.

From that day on, she continued to train herself. Even though Christian trained her very hard, she never complained a single word and never gave up. Sometimes he would find himself being amazed by her.

Maybe because he felt sorry for her or there was another feeling involved, he also sent her to continue her education. But after passing high school, she rejected to go to university and decided to follow in his footsteps.

He had rejected her idea at that time but she continued to be stubborn and he could do nothing to change her mind. So, he let it be and from there onwards, she has always followed him everywhere just like a loyal dog. But, he never wanted her to like that. He wanted her to realize her dreams and work hard to fulfill those dreams but she always acted like hard rock with no emotions and dreams.

Finally, when Catherine passed her high school and to continue her higher studies, he decided to send her abroad. And also with that, he made a plan to send Sarah with his sister with the idea of letting her protect Catherine and also to make her study in university.

Without letting Sarah know, he registered for a class in the same university in the security department as he knew that she would not be interested in other classes. But since it was in the security department, there would be physical training and also will teach about various types of weapons which will not make her bored.

Just a day before Catherine’s leaving, he revealed his plans for her. As expected, Sarah rejected at first but when Christian gave her the order of also protecting his sister, Sarah could not say no to that. So, she followed his plan reluctantly and joined her class. Christian was also satisfied with that outcome. But what he did not expect was that the two girls would bond so closely.

“Sir, we have reached.” Announced the driver when they reached Ricci Corporation. Christian’s thought was disrupted with the announcement from his driver. He did not think much about it and just got off the far coolly.

After getting off, he looked at the 17 story building in front of him. The Corporation was built by his father which was passed down to him (Christian) after his parent’s untimely death.

At that time the company was not as prosperous as it was now. He worked hard all these years to not disappoint his father’s soul. On one hand, he had his sister to take care of whereas, on other hand, he had his empire to build. All the responsibilities fell on his shoulder. He had to take care of the corporation and also his underground empire. Everyone was waiting for him to fall so that they could take his place. To protect his place from others and to protect his sister, he never gave up and finally, now he was this successful. He must say that hard work does pay off.

“Sir?” Assistant Moorey's voice sounded which brought Christian back from his thoughts. He looked at his assistant who was looking at him with a confused gaze. Christian’s thoughts again ran back to the time when he met Assistant Moorey for the first time.

Zen Moorey, who is called Assistant Moorey now, was an orphan who ran from the orphanage when he was only 12 years old because he could not bear the scolding and beatings he used to get from the orphanage. The people who worked in that orphanage were no better than psychopaths who used to assault children for their selfish satisfaction. Zen always wanted to leave that monstrous place, so when he finally got a chance during the orphanage’s anniversary, he ran away from there.

When he reached the city, he did not know any people and was just wandering here and there when he met 15 years old Christian.

“Do you want to follow me? I need a loyal friend who will never betray me.” That was all it took for Christian to get Zen as his right-hand man. Right now, Zen was one of the people who he could trust blindly.
