" What's your name?" Pamela's eyes flickered with disgust.
" Mabel" I said, trying my best to look as filial as possible.
" Listen carefully Mabel" She began slowly " You are now a servant of Lord Grey"
I nodded when she paused to observe my face.
" You are to pleasure him whenever he wants" She paused again for an effect, " You don't go anywhere near his chambers without being summoned, the repercussion for that is death"
My head shot up on hearing that, but I was already in the process of nodding vigorously to agree with everything she told me.
" You don't nod!" She
roared at me, her rage apparent in every word she spoke, "You're supposed to say "Yes Ma'am! or you're a dead meat, servant! "
" Yes... Ma'am" I said sheepishly, trying to avoid another outburst.
" Good, good, I'm glad we have an understanding Mara" She paused again before she continued, " Now if there's anything you need, you ask. Do not take a pin without my consent!" Her 5'5 beautiful frame gritted up me.
" Of course, Ma'am" I replied quietly.
" Good" She paused again, before speaking softly "Let's go introduce you to the others"
With that, she turned sharply and stalked away from me. I scurried after her until I had caught up. We stopped in front of a pair of huge double doors and she opened one.
" Come in Mara" She called me into the room before walking inside herself, but before I was fully in, the doors slammed closed behind me.
" Don't be clumsy Mara!" She yelled and spun to face me , hands on hips "What were you doing !?"
" Sorry Ma'am... I didn't know how else to ...". I was trying really hard not to make eye contact with her, but she cut me short midway.
" Enough of the excuses!" She spat " Just remember this - you are a slave. You will serve Lord Grey, and don't think you are taking this clumsiness if yours to his presence"
" I will be careful ma'am" I responded quickly.
" I don't think it will matter much what you do Mara, once you have been here long enough, you'll learn" I flinched at her words " Now follow me"
I followed obediently, trying not to cause any trouble that would provoke her, because if she does and continued to talk at me the way she did I might lose it and wring her neck. And everything will be messed up, and I don't want any of that.
The room we entered through wasn't anything like the rooms I had seen before though, instead this room had more windows than doors and they weren't big enough for me to fit through but still allowed some light in. It was also very warm, almost pleasant - though that could have been because it wasn't so cold outside.
Pamela snapped her fingers twice and a number of girls in the same attire came flooding in. They bowed their heads and genuflected after filing up in a straight line.
I stared mouth open, I didn' t even known such things existed and hadn't known that there were people who still believed that the lower class was supposed to serve the upper. How was that even possible in this era and time, it's different when it's a job. But what was before me was pure dehumanization and oppression. And I could do nothing about it immediately, it hurt.
The last girl finished in the end of the line, standing back upright.
" What were you doing ?" Pamela asked harshly the girl who just joined gulped.
" I...um..." she faltered, before shaking her head violently "Nothing, I was using the rest room"
Pam looked unconvinced but nodded anyway.
She turned to all of them, "Very well then. This is Mara"
" Mabel.." I corrected as polite as I could sound, but she wasn't having any of it.
"You don't talk back at me!" She screamed. A ripple seemed to ripple around the group of girls, they all flinched back slightly. The anger seemed to drain out of her and her tone became gentler as she continued, " You will answer whatever name I decide to call you"
" Yes Ma'am" I whispered, lowering my gaze submissively.
" Now apologize!" She demanded and my eyes flickered to look at her, but when our gaze met I had look down.
" I'm sorry Ma'am " I muttered .
"That wasn't good enough! Apologize again!" She snapped and I was a little bit hesitant, my voice caught in my throat, not wanting to come out.
" Mara!" She roared again and I jumped involuntarily, she looked furious.
"I'm sorry Ma'am, " I said a loud.
She flipped her hair and turned her gaze to the other girls.
" Kira!" She belowed and a lanky girl in her 20's stepped forward.
" Yes Ma'am" Kira said, bowing down slightly in response.
I noticed she was shorter than the rest.
" You will help Mara get ready"
" Whatever you wish Ma'am" She responded smoothly and turned to look at me.
" Shall we go to the changing room?" She asked and I nodded.
As soon as Kira took my hand and lead me out of the room I tried desperately to calm myself, but my stomach lurched in terror at the thought of being stuck in this place for the next few months.
I tried to distract myself by asking Kira some questions about the mansion, but she wouldn't say anything.
" I understand, you guys aren't allowed to talk" I smiled nervously.
" That's right Mabel" Kira's tone held no amusement, " Now let us proceed"
We passed several servants along our way, none were talking, none even acknowledging my existence. There was an air of dread hanging above these servants like a cloud, it gave me the chills and made me want to run away.
We got to a door and she pushed it open.
" This is your room" She announced as we stepped in.
It was a medium sized room, with four walls painted a soft yellow. There were three small beds in the middle of the room, one of which was empty.
" You'll be sharing with two other girls actually" Her voice held a little disappointment.
" Oh.... ok" I responded weakly, not sure what else to say.
She turned to leave, but paused abruptly, " You don't talk carelessly.A girl was killed last night because of the blasphemous remark she made"
My eyes narrowed into slits, " What do you mean. How? Did someone snitched on her?"
" Yes"
" Who?"
" The transmitters, they are everywhere!" Kira said with frustration.
" That means..."
" There are none here yet"She said, " But they will be installed in a day or two"
Without another word, Kira spun and left.I stood frozen in my spot, " What the fuck have I gotten myself into?"
"Mabel wait!" Grey yelled as he grabbed my wrist, my heart was racing fast as he grabbed my hand. Gosh! I had let the cat out of the bag and now I wasn't sure of what to tell him."Mabel," Grey repeated and I turned to look at him, he had the same facial features with my son and I wondered if he ever met Thomas my son, maybe he might guess….gosh! I'm thinking too much nonsense."I'm here," I murmured."Sit Mabel," he ordered but I continued to stand. "Take a seat Mabel," he repeated, after breathing I sat beside him. Grey was still holding my wrist as if I was going to run away if he ever let go of me."So, you have a son?" He asked and I nodded, he was silent for a while and I couldn't let myself imagine what was going through his mind. "How come nobody knew about it?" My heart skipped a beat when he asked that question. What should I say? That I left my son with his nanny all because I wanted to bring Grey to bar? Stupid! I thought for a while as my mind was in chaos, thankfully a l
Mabel's POVA week later, I was lying on Grey's laps as he sat on the couch, he raised his hand and starts stroking my hair gently. "Does it feel good?" He asked when he noticed that my eyes were closed."Mn," I nodded my head and he continued stroking my hair."Can I ask you out Mabel?" Grey suddenly asked."Really?" I asked without opening my eyes."Yes," he replied."I'm in!" I said with my eyes still closed."I'm guessing, where should we go?" He asked without stopping, I opened my eyes and our gaze met . "Do you have any place in your mind?" He asked again, I thought for a while and smiled."Yes," I replied still smiling at him."So, where is the place if I may ask?" I put my head down on his laps and he resumed with hisgesture."Uhm, let's go for a picnic at a park," I replied and waited for his response. "It's going to be crowded," he murmured and I understood what he meant. As a Mafia lord, he couldn't go anywhere freely because enemies could be lurking around so he needee
Mabel's POV,Standing in front of the balcony as I read a daily news on my phone, I frowned when I read the trending news "MAN FOUND DEAD IN A BUSH!" I took a close view at my phone to see the dead body of the man that had been found then, just then my phone rang. I looked at the caller and shivered. Desmond? He must have seen the news and is about to ask if I knew anything about it or maybe I had seen it."Hello Desmond!" I greeted as I received the call."Hi Mabel, how are you doing?" He asked, I could hear loud noises coming from the place Desmond was at and I guessed he was at the scene."I'm fine, what's up with the call?" I asked."Have you seen the daily news?" He asked, I was silent fir a while as I thought of what to give him as a response. "Mabel?" Desmond called when I didn't say anything."I'm here," I replied."I asked a question Mabel, is anything the problem?" He asked, he sounded worried and I smiled to myself."Not really," I replied. "Okay, so I asked if you had se
We got to my underground prison a few minutes later because the car had gone at it's highest speed."Stop here," I ordered and the driver stoped the car few meters away from the underground. Brian turned to look at me."Is Mabel in there? Because as far as I know, this isn't Keith's underground," he said and gave me a confused gaze, I laughed and patted his shoulder."Your cousin is in there," I replied, vhe furrowed his eyebrows and glared at me."Which cousin?""Keith's daughter," I replied and he let out a long hiss."None of them are related to me!" He snapped and got down from the car. Without waiting for me, he started moving towards the underground."Where do you think you are going?" I asked and stood by the side of the car."To save Mabel!" He retorted and continued walking."You won't find her without me," I said again, he stopped and turned to look at me."What the hell are you saying?!" He yelled and took hurried steps towards me, he grabbed my collar when he got to me. "Ar
Grey's POV,As I laid on the bed and thought of ways to stop Brian from coming to my place, Mabel's phone that she had forgotten in my bedroom started ringing, when I checked the caller I frowned. It was the same Brian I was thinking about, just what the hell did he want to tell her?I picked up the phone and received Brian's incoming call. "Hello Mabel," he said and I was filled with jealousy, this guy had his own way of charming ladies which I find annoying and perverting."Stay away from Mabel you brat!" I warned, Brian went silent for a while and then I heard him laugh."Are you not ashamed of yourself Grey?" He asked and continued to laugh."I should be asking you that question little brat!' I retorted and he laughed harder."You're so funny!" He mocked. "Picking a lady's phone call and warning a suitor to stop calling her, that is a very shameful thing to do Grey. Don't you know that?" He asked."Was that how your mother and father got to know each other?" I asked him back and
"What were you both about to do before I came in?" Emma asked as soon as Grey left the ward. I laid back on the bed and covered myself with the sheet, Emma was angry and pulled it away."What is it girl?" I asked and dragged the sheet from her which she dragged from me again."I won't let you sleep until you tell me what the both of you were doing in my absence!" She said and smiled mischievously."What's with that smile?" I asked and grinned at her."Nothing much!" She said and yawned. "So, the both of you thought I already left the hospital and was about to have sex. Isn't it?" She asked and we both laughed."Stop thinking far Emma!" I said while laughing."Stop thinking far Emma," she mimicked and we laughed again. "But seriously Mabel," she turned serious and I stopped laughing."Nothing was going to happen Emma, he was going to kiss me until you came in," I said, my cheeks were feeling hot as Emma continuously stared at me."Are you sick?" She suddenly asked, I frowned and shook
