CASSANDRA'S POV~

The second the bedroom door clicked shut behind us, I barely had time to breathe.

Adriano moved with a predator’s grace, grabbing my wrist and spinning me gently, only to guide—no, trap—me right onto the bed. I landed with a soft thud against the silk sheets, my back against the plush mattress, and his tall frame leaned over me like a storm was about to break loose.

“Adriano—” I gasped, startled by the forceful yet careful way his hands pressed into the mattress, caging me in.

“Shh…” he drawled, his voice like velvet dipped in sin. “Let’s skip the lies tonight, cara mia. You wanted to slap my hand back there, didn’t you?”

His breath fanned against my cheek, warm and maddening. His body wasn’t even touching mine, yet I could feel him everywhere.
