Chapter 18
Benington stared at him for a moment and crossed his arms. “I understand you are in a lot of hurry. But have you thought about what this young woman wants? Does she want to get married in an office? Maybe she had dreams of a beautiful wedding but had to put up with this dull room and,” he looked around, “no friends or family?”
“That's none of your concern. Just finish with this formality.” Nikolas gritted his teeth and spoke.
Juliet looked stunned at Nikolas's outburst towards the old man. If not for anything else he should have had respect at least for his age. While Savannah, who was standing beside her, squeezed her hand giving comfort.
However the old man had
What if Nikolas really was giving his best? Is that not what she wanted anyway—his best? Many minutes passed by after that. But they stayed the way they were.He already knew what she wanted to ask. Nikolas sighed at her silence. He released his hold from around her hair and gestured his chin to the door. “Close it. I don't want anybody to hear what I am going to say to you.” Juliet went and shut the door. She wondered what was so mysterious about the information he was going to give her. And he answered Juliet’s curiosity. “No sisters. We are four brothers.”Juliet left a soft gasp. “Isn't that what you wanted to ask? About my family?” He could read her mind like the back of his hand. Nikolas walked to the bed and sat. Juliet kept watching him. His arms crossed against his chest. He would not even look at h
Nikolas’s lips parted and then shut. His mouth opened again but nothing came out. She was pushing him. If he married her and wanted her to be with him forever, she wanted to be sure that he was serious with their relationship. Juliet did not want to be another notch on his list and didn't wish to show up on more such women like Trivia.Instead of answering, Nikolas stood. He looked away and focused his attention somewhere else, anywhere but on her. He opened the balcony door and stepped out.Juliet watched him hold onto the high metal bars outside and gaze at the ocean. He seemed alone in his thoughts, accustomed to shutting out anyone who dared to intrude on his life.Juliet wondered why he insisted on having no one there for him. Was he considering what she said, or was he waiting for her t
Nikolas was in a storm of anger the moment he heard the news. “Mollie is released?” How did that happen? Who bailed her?” He asked the questions to no-one in particular but rather spoke aloud to himself.Juliet was observing his striking annoyance from besides. To say she was worried is an understatement. She dared not ask him any questions when he was in such a state.Nikolas scurried out like a spirited sun ball saying nothing to Juliet. He grabbed the car keys on the way from the key stand and reached one of the many cars that were parked outside his mansion to take him to the office.“Nikolas, where are you going? Keep calm. Get back inside. We will see this issue is resolved.” Juliet tried to pacify, chasing him from behind.&
“I came ready with the papers. That damn cop had denied the bail. He spoke some legal nonsense to me. But don't worry. I will soon come out with a solution to your situation.” Sherlyn assured Mollie giving her a flying kiss.Meanwhile Collins called Juliet. “Please don't cut the call.” He started. “I am very sorry for everything Mollie did to you. Believe me, I had the least idea of it. When I got the report that you're pregnant, I was vanquished. And in that anger I failed to look at the authenticity of the information. But now that I know the truth, I am ready to do my bit of duty. Please tell your husband to organize another press conference. I will be there and I will tell the truth to the media. Take back your complaint and I promise, you will never see Mollie again in your life. Juliet, I have always seen you as a kind and understanding woman. I hope you're not going to ruin my impression on y
“You bloody bastard, I will see your end. Don't think you're the winner because you sent me to prison. The war has just started. She brought two fingers pointed to her eyes and then aimed them at his. “Every move of yours is watched from now on, Nikolas Ries. Caution.”“You…” Juliet took steps forward to attack her. But Nikolas held her arm stopping her steps and stared into her eyes sternly. A clear dismissal was noted in them.Juliet's anger was no less than a storm. On the way back home, she reprimanded an answer from Nikolas. “Why did you stop me from slapping her?“You don't know the secret behind that dare. She was instigating you to do it. The slap you were to make on her would for sure leave a residue on her face. And that will be her edge upon you. She will play a victim card and create an impression that she was targeted by you unethically and you should be
Chapter 25Nikolas looked around stunned searching from where the bullet had been fired and it was from the least expected person. Juliet. He didn't like the outcome. Dismissal was noticed clearly in his eyes.“Shut up you rascal. Justice always supports the truth.” Juliet beseeched with ripping fire embers from her eyes.“Flower, you shouldn't be holding such dangerous things in your tiny soft hands. Give it to me.” Nikolas gently takes the pistol away from Juliet before the weapon misfires again. Thankfully it did not hit Collins. Nikolas did not want Juliet's hands to be colored with blood. She was innocent and he wanted it to stay that way. Nikolas was ready to do anything to guard the purity in her.
