"Hello friends, tonight is my eldest daughter, Juliet's 20th birthday. On this special occasion, she is also going to be engaged to the handsome millionaire Collins Cordis, the CEO of Cordis group." Sherilyn announced in the large hall of guests. Juliet’s jaw hung to the floor. It was the first time she heard Sherilyn address her as her daughter. If this was a dream she does not want it to end.
Juliet’s dad was the biggest philanderer in the world. Her mother waited with patience for him to change. But that day never happened. Unable to accept her father’s infidelity, when Juliet was ten years old, she killed him and went to prison.
Sherlyn was one of his courtesans who was smart to play the game on him and enjoy the Greenfield’s millions worth property. She entered Juliet’s life as a mother but for a curse. Sherlyn took over the Greenfield hospital that Juliet’s mom owned since she was in the prison and accepted custody of Juliet. However she had never seen Mollie and her the same.
Sherlyn enjoyed the profits of the hospital and spent hardly anything on the upbringing and future of Juliet. While Mollie her daughter was doing her graduation in an ivy league university, Juliet struggled to earn a scholarship in NYU because the former wouldn't spend a penny on her.
But tonight she understood something was fishy. It was the eve of her engagement with the love of her life. She did not want it to turn into a disaster bringing Sherlyn. Juliet ignored her.
The guests clapped for her after the announcement was made and some even personally came and congratulated her. However, all of them were fake. She could hear from behind the mocking whispers of people calling her a murderer's daughter.
Juliet could not digest the insult. Her eyes welled tears. She saw Sherlyn from the corner of her eyes. She had a sinister grin looking ahead and talking to the guests as if she did not hear anything.
Juliet boosted her morale with positivity. Once Collins is with her, he will put a stop to all the nonsense. Nobody can point a finger at her. She will be Mrs Juliet Cordis, the wife of millionaire Collin Cordis in no time. "Where is Collins, Sylvia?" She asked, looking around the fancy meeting hall decorated with flowers.
"He might have been struck in traffic, will soon be here." The enigma in Sherlyn's looks was unmistakable. Juliet hopes everything is going to be fine. She doesn't want Sherlyn to create a drama during her engagement and bring discomfort to Collins. He is a gentleman who agreed to marry her despite her frosty family. But a part of her warned of the possible cynicism. Why is he not in the venue yet?
Juliet took a long breath and brought out her phone from her handbag. She couldn't stand the wait. Anxiously she called Collins and the line connected on the second ring. But much to her predicament instead of his voice, she heard the moans of a woman from behind. Her heart made a leap but before she could function on it she heard Sherlyn call her.
"There are more guests arriving. Will you keep sticking that phone to your ears or greet the visitors? Well, what better can I expect from a lunatic's daughter." Sherlyn huffed out fanning her face with her hands and sashayed to the entrance in her stylish long pencil heels with a plastic smile.
Ten minutes later, they stepped out of a luxury car. Her stepsister arrived, holding onto Collin’s arm and their eyes met. Mollie and Collins’s intimacy was obvious which brought a jolt of electricity on Juliet. The moans of the woman earlier were of Mollie, her step sister. It was clear to her now
Lately, Collins had been distant and was always using work as an excuse to avoid her. She should have understood it as a warning sign. But she was stupid to trust him. Her heart sank at the realization. "Why did you do this to me, Collins?" Her soft voice involuntarily broke out though she wanted to be infrangible.
They had been together for five years and just last month, he even invested a million dollars into the hospital. Why would he invest in her holdings if he had no interest in her? Now she understands the mathematics behind it. That was the investment on Mollie. Were they also going to snatch her hospital away from her?
"Hello sissy, how are you? Happy Birthday to you." Mollie greeted her with a contemptuous simper.
Juliet did not acknowledge her. She was fuming from within. As she covered their distance, she noticed the red marks on Mollie's neck and the creases on Collin's shirt. Earth shook under her feet. The uneasy feeling in her grew.
Collins looked at her with a glare as if she was some sort of tincture which would burn him. Such an amount of abhorrence? Why? What did she do that he suddenly hated her so much?
Mollie pretended ignorance even after witnessing their strained relationship. Juliet knew for sure she had a good say in it. She was dressed lavishly, as if she was the star of the banquet. The fancy dress screamed like it was her engagement more than hers. "I am sorry Juliet, Collins had insisted on picking me up, which was why we are together and a little late. Hope you do not mind."
Forcing a smile, she spoke to Mollie, "Cool. It is alright. Collin is soon going to be your brother. I am glad you could finally bring him here." Juliet was smart if only her days were in favour, she would have shown Mollie where she actually belonged. She was now sure Mollie was playing a number on her using Collins.
Mollie choked on her own spit after hearing her words. Her face went red with anger as if she witnessed a storm but no sooner she saw the placating features of Collins, every discomfort in her vanished. "You were busy, Collins?" Mollie had a lopsided grin. The satire in her eyes was unmatched.
"What's so funny about it?" Juliet exchanged looks between them while trying to control her erratic heartbeat.
She tried to take Collin’s arm to lead him onto the stage, but he coldly pulled away. “Don’t touch me with your filthy hands, you whore.” He shouted.
“A whore?” Such a brutal accusation was unacceptable. Juliet looked at him in shock as words got sealed in her throat. Butterflies rolled in her stomach with grief. “Think before you make a nuisance here, Collins.” Her voice was low but influential with caution.
“Oh yeah?” Sarcasm in his question was evident. He pulled out a report from the file and threw it on her face. "You are carrying another man's child in your womb and want to get engaged to me, you pimp?"
His preposterous, inhumane allegation made her jump off her own skin. With shivering hands she took the fallen report from the floor and blood washed away from her face. "Pregnancy Positive."
Chapter 62Juliet wasn't bothered if Nikolas would come to know about her. “What's the worst that could happen, Fredrick? He will know I am alive and will come to kill me. In a way it's a liberation for all the injustice I have done to him. Let him go on.” Before Fredrick could respond Savannah stopped her.She had already reached the penthouse with her luggage. “Fredrick, Juliet will talk to you later.” She snatched the phone from her hand and disconnected the call.“What were you speaking to your lawyer, Juliet? You wanted to sell the hospital? Do not be a stupid girl. Selling the hospital will not solve your issues. You belong here, so you stay here. Secondly, you have done no injustice to Nikolas and you have not done anything wrong. Anybody in place of you will try to run away from the situation to save the baby. Like you said before, you haven't chosen this life. He forced you in
Chapter 61Savannah was fanning her face with her right hand and laughing at the expression on Juliet’s face as she magnified the image on her phone of Walter Monroe. The picture showed a tall, dirty-blond haired, gorgeous man. He was dressed in a three piece black business suit. His mariner-blue eyes were round that darted with the vigour of youth in a milky pool. They clearly warned that messing up with him was not a wise option. His vision was stationed ahead at something in appraisal. One could easily tell by the fabric of his suit that he could feed the whole city of New York for a week and still not hurt his pocket. In short he was a complete package of looks, power and money. “Mmm hmm” left Juliet's lips after she analysed his appearance.“Do I hear wedding bells again?” Savannah decided to pull Juliet's leg for the way she was looking at the photo of Walter.“Stop it!” Juliet ordered her friend. Sav

Two days later“Jules, over here.” Savannah called, looking at the computer before her. Her sloe shaped eyes shone as bright as the evening stars which lit up with joy.“What is it?” Jules just had a clean up of her face after walking inside the house. She had a couple of walk-ins during the day which she completed and came home.“You got mail from Rowan Enterprises.” Savannah shook Juliet with happiness. “You will be treating Mr Walter Monroe, the brother in law of the company’s CEO Enoch Rowan for the next six months.” Her voice was foghorn loud booming out a guffaw.“Already? Rowan Enterprises? I thought it was a referral job from my previous employer Ms Sakinaka. They are so fast.” Juliet stared at the mail doubtfully.Since the time she is booked by Mollie with a surrogacy contract Juliet's perception towards looking at things changed drastically. Nikolas was spotless, but
Two days later Walter was discharged from the hospital. Though he was completely fine the pain in his right hand was severe. He was given a cast and the doctor advised the consultation of an orthopedic doctor. “There is a degradation of cartilage between the joint and two fractures, one major and another minor due to the fall after the bullet hit him. Because attending to the heart was more important, we took care of his chest before the hand.”“Sure, no issues.” Nikolas found the advice of the physician as a divine opportunity to reconnect with Juliet.Juliet hadn't met Walter before and she is now a certified orthopaedic surgeon who can treat him. Vladimir too needs his mom's care. Happy reels began to turn in the head of Nikolas.“Do as I say.” He called Xavier and gave him instructions on what should be done next after they brought Walter home.*****“What?&
The last thought before Walter welcomed the dark world was he had finally attained justice to his wife. He took the bullet instead of Nikolas and he killed Rancho. Nobody in the world can give him better justice than Nikolas for both of them were sailing in the same boat. All these years that he cried for the loss of his wife, she will now live at peace in heaven. Walter called it a night after establishing his war on Rancho a hundred percent success and closed his eyes.Nikolas immediately rushed Walter to the hospital. The doctor checked his pulse to assess his physical state which was very volatile.“Will he live?” Nikolas asked the physician in worry.“I can't promise you anything right now. Inform your family to be in the hospital as soon as possible.” The doctor spoke before leaving for the surgery room and the stretcher of Walter followed behind. Two hours later, the doctor came out of t
