Alexander POV
"Look at you Alex, finally being a man huh?" Reed my cousin laughs deeply from across me "I'm not speaking to you Reed, I'm speaking to the lawyer" I turn away from him, "Mr. Chambers, give me a few more days, and my wife will be present right here, we are very happy together," I say gritting my teeth. "I understand you Alex, but your grand-father was clear with his will, if you are not married to a woman you love wholeheartedly and confirmed by I and your mother, the property as well as the Bianchi Cartel will all be transferred to your cousin Reed, who is already married with an heir" he sighs, "I can't do anything about it unless you provide one in five days" "Could be magic, Alex can't seem to keep a woman around him for long, they always run away screaming" Reed laughs deeply "The Bianchi Cartel has been flourishing under my rule this entire time, Reed will run it into the ground, The mafia is something we need to handle delicately, Mr. Chambers, you know that" Reed rolls his eyes, standing up, "Give it up Alex, I win, you lose, as always" he laughs deeply, hitting my back as he walks out of the room. "Mr Chambers," I say turning to him and ignoring the piece of shit that is Reed. "I can't do anything for you Alex" he shrugs standing up and closing his briefcase, "You have five days" he nods walking out of the room I punch the mahogany table in anger, almost screaming to myself when I hear my phone ring, I quickly pick up the call without looking at the ID. "Mr. Bianchi, Shes awake sir" I frown pulling the phone from my ear and looking down at the caller ID, "St Lucas Wellness Center" My heart immediately jumps in my chest, Elena is awake. ELENA POV In the morning, we leave the hotel, "We just have to drop by my office and sign the documents and we are good to go" Alex says turning his head to me slightly, noticing the absent look in my eyes "Are you okay?" he raises a row at me, his eyes twinkling under the morning sun. "Do you think anyone is searching for me?" "Not that I know of Elena, I'll make more inquiries if you desire I nod, "Where do you work? What do you do?" I send him a short smile, being around him makes me so relaxed. He smirks turning slightly to me, "Well, I come from a good family, who invested well, that much I can say, we have a few companies littered around the world, but I'm more into shipping, that should give you a bit of an idea" "So shipping docks?" I raise a brow at him "Something like that, just on a very large scale" he nods, turning to the side, I notice the black suit he pulled on this morning, he looks clean, neat, handsome, enough to make any woman fall deeply for him. I pat down on my white dress, he grabbed it for me and told me to wear it as we will be taking a few pictures after the court wedding, something to show his family I guess. "Don't you have a girlfriend? Someone that would clearly do this for you" I raise a brow at him, why me? Where are you waiting for me? "No I don't have one" he turns away, a scrunch on his forehead "And, I wanted someone, my Cousin would not have access to, someone that cannot be bribed easily or moved by his antics, he can be very convincing when he wants to. "And I was not waiting for you, Elena, you woke up at the right time, I guess I'm just lucky" he nods the car coming to a stop in front of a high-end building, glasses decorating the sides. "Wait here, the driver will take you to the parking lot and l will get the contract and bring it to you, is that fine?" he watches my face, maybe my emotions or my reaction to him. I nod, watching him leave, a guard by his side, I watch as a woman in a red skirt and black shirt approaches him, the car moving forward, and soon we enter an underground parking lot. Somehow, I feel safe with Alexander, I don't know what is, or if I feel safe due to the fact he picked me up from the hospital, but he makes me feel like I've known him for ages, he makes me feel comfortable, I sigh, turning to the driver as we park in the underground parking lot. "I need to take a breather," I tell the driver pushing the door open and coming out, I close the door gently turning to rest my back on the door, the parking lot is filled with a few cars, and a single elevator at the end of the room. I close my eyes breathing in, when I hear a car drive into the parking lot, turning my head to the side, I stare at the black SUV, my eyes moving to the plate number D. Russo I frown my eyes flashing white for a moment, my head starts to ache badly making me let out a scream as I fall to the ground. The last thing I hear before I pass out is Alex calling out my name "Elena"ELENA POV The door slams so hard the floor under me feels like it shakes. I’m left staring at empty space, heart pounding and lungs tight. I don’t know how long I stand there, breathing too fast, hugging my arms to my chest. The photos keep flashing in my mind. Samantha, her perfect hair spilling across Alex’s chest. His relaxed face. That look. God, it hurts and I don’t know why. I sink onto the edge of the bed, pressing my palms to my eyes until colors explode behind my lids. My head is spinning, everything too loud in the quiet of the room. Marco knocks softly, then peeks in. “Elena.” I look up. “Where is he?” “He went to handle it.” Marco’s voice is calm, but there’s an edge under it. “He won’t let her get away with it.” I swallow hard. “And if it’s true? If he really…” Marco’s jaw tenses. “Boss isn’t the type to lie about something like that. Especially to you.” The words hit me harder than they should. To me. Why should that matter? Why does it matter? After all
ELENA POVMorning comes too quickly. I barely slept; my mind kept replaying Alex’s voice from last night, low and furious, asking why I would sneak off to meet Daemon. His eyes, so cold, like I was a stranger. Then the door closing behind him. Silence swallowing the entire house. It’s almost worse than him yelling. I drag myself out of bed, still wearing the same dress from yesterday, mascara smudged under my eyes. I look like I feel, wrecked. The house is quiet. Too quiet. No sound of Alex in his office downstairs. No heavy footsteps in the hall. Marco nods at me when I pass by, but his expression says nothing. Sophia’s door is closed. It feels like everyone is waiting to see what happens next. I make it to the kitchen and pour coffee, my hands trembling. Every time I think about that photo of me and Daemon at the café, my chest twists. I know how it looked. I know why Alex was angry. But I also remember the way he looked at me when he left, like he didn’t know me at all. And ma
ELENA POV For the first time since I stepped into this new life, the silence scares me. After Samantha’s ambush, everything feels like a blur. Marco moves fast m, securing the space, barking orders. Alex doesn’t leave my side, not even for a second. He sits beside me in the car, holding my hand so tight I almost forget my fingers are numb. His eyes stay forward, his jaw tense. Neither of us says a word the entire ride home. Not when we pull through the gates. Not even when Sophia rushes down the stairs with her eyes wide and her lips already forming questions. Alex stops her with a single look, then guides me upstairs. When we get to the room, I don’t even ask why he locks the door. I just sit on the edge of the bed and let him pull off my shoes. We don’t speak and he doesn’t leave. He just sits beside me, his hand resting lightly over mine, his breathing steady and deep like he’s trying to stay calm. And then much later, when he thinks I’m asleep, I feel his fingers brush th
ELENA POV I should’ve known she wouldn’t just walk away. Women like Samantha never walk away. They hover. They wait. And then they finally strike. The ride back from the docks is dead silent. Alexander is driving, his jaw clenched so tightly I can hear it grind. I don’t say a word, because if I do, I might scream. Sophia sits beside me in the back, shifting awkwardly. “You okay?” she finally whispers. “No,” I mutter. “But I’ll deal with it.” She nods and leans back. I can tell she wants to say more, but thankfully, she doesn’t. When we pull into the mansion, I don’t wait for the car to stop. I push the door open and walk straight inside, ignoring Alex completely. I don’t care if he didn’t invite her or if he did. I care that she thinks she has the right to him. I care that she touched him like she’s done it before. I care that I cared. I slam the bedroom door behind me and toss my purse onto the bed. The silence around me is deafening. I’m supposed to be the girl with no m
ELENA POVI haven’t moved. I’m still sitting on the couch, lips slightly parted, fingers pressed to them as if doing so could erase the kiss he just left me with. But it’s no use. That kiss is scorched into my bones. It wasn’t just a kiss. It was a promise. Or a threat. Maybe both. I force myself to breathe. I don’t know what’s more dangerous, Daemon’s sudden entrance into my life or the way Alexander is slowly and surely crawling beneath my skin. I rise slowly and make my way to the bed, peeling off his hoodie and pulling the covers over my body. Sleep doesn’t come easily, but eventually, exhaustion wins. When I wake up the next time, the room is quiet. I push the blankets off and sit up slowly, reaching for the silk robe hanging by the bed. The hallway outside is quiet as I make my way down toward the kitchen. Sophia is already there, perched on a stool, eating a strawberry and flipping through a gossip magazine like it’s the morning paper. “Someone’s awake,” she teases, gl
ELENA POV I wake with a jolt. The faint scent of Alex’s cologne clings to the sheets, and warmth surrounds me. My throat is dry, and my arms ache faintly. Blinking through the soft morning light streaming through the wide windows, I realize I’m no longer in that dark, freezing warehouse. I’m back in the mansion, I am back in our bed.Back… safe. “Elena,” a soft voice whispers. I turn and find Alex sitting beside the bed, his eyes fixed on me. There’s a cut across his cheek and a bruise blooming beneath his jaw. He looks exhausted, his shirt half unbuttoned, and his eyes searching mine like he hasn’t stopped since we got back. “You’re awake,” he says quietly, relief spilling into his voice. I try to sit up, but he reaches forward quickly. “Hey, hey, slow down,” he murmurs, adjusting the pillow behind me and pulling the blanket up to cover my legs. “You’ve been out for hours.” “What… happened?” My voice is barely a whisper, raw and strained. His jaw clenches for a second before
