Chapter 10 - His Promises

Rishabh went towards the meeting room and opened the door slowly so as not to disturb them. He went towards Rudra who was talking to the clients, sitting in his throne-like armchair.

He stopped talking when Rishabh stood beside him and placed the document in front of him. Rudra was about to start talking again when Rishabh interrupted him.

"Sir, I need to say something!" Rishabh whispered, bending down to his level.

"Later!" In one word, Rudra dismissed him but Rishabh knew if he didn't say that now then it might be a problem later.

"Sir, it's urgent!" Rishabh said in an insistent tone so that Rudra could hear him out.

"Speak!"

"Sir, Miss Neha has come to meet you!" Rishabh whispered and Rudra shot his eyes towards him not believing what he heard.

What the hell is she doing here? She is supposed to be in the hospital taking a rest! It's not even twenty-four hours since she got hurt and she got discharged so soon, Rudra thought frowning.

"Did she come here alone?" Rudra asked, feeling weird in his heart just by the mention of her name!

"I think so!" Rishabh said in a thinking manner then suddenly Rudra's phone started ringing.

"Sir, it's Piya ma'am!" Rishabh informed him by passing him his phone.

"Excuse me, gentlemen!" Rudra told the clients politely and they nodded at him smiling.

Rudra went out of the meeting room and Received the call.

"Brother, I hope I didn't disturb you but I urgently needed to talk to you!" He heard Piya's panicked voice and he knew something was wrong.

"Calm down and tell me, what happened?" He said softly.

Then Piya narrated everything to him according to Neha's plan.

"So, I don't know... why she wants to meet you but as I said she isn't in her senses now. So please kindly handle her as I couldn't do that. I am really terrified of her as she is always threatening me around! Jai has already told you that from now on she will stay with you then you have to handle her every time. So start practising now only!" Piya said everything so quickly that she even forgot to breathe.

"Have you both gone nuts? You guys know how I am and you know that her personality has changed due to her past trauma. Then how can I handle her? I am not an expert in handling girls, for God's sake, I have never been close to any girl!" Rudra said and he was suddenly panicking too.

"Bro, now you calm down! Don't take stress, I expected better from you. I thought you will be like, Piya don't take stress, I will handle everything, Neha is now my responsibility! Leave her to me, now she is mine! I will love her from the core of my heart." Piya said mimicking his tone and blabbered whatever she had in her stupid mind.

"Are you done joking?" Rudra asked, rolling his eyes.

"Sorry, sorry... Please try to understand! Handling her won't be that tough job! I can't do it because I have to take care of my babies and Jai will be busy taking care of me so you see, we all will be busy!" Piya tried to give him reasons.

"And you think, I am sitting here free?" Rudra asked, getting annoyed.

"I know how busy you are but you can do your work from your house too while handling her! Pretty, please..." Piya pleaded to him.

"Why me only?" Rudra asked.

"Because she has no one to call family and you will also get a good companion in her and you won't have to live with your pathetic family for a small time being." Piya tried to make him understand emotionally.

"But I don't know anything about her! She is still like a stranger to me! How will she be comfortable around me?" Rudra asked as he was suddenly quite intrigued to know more about Neha.

He wants to know everything about her and even the things, no one knows except her!

"I will tell you everything about her. Her likes, dislikes, everything! But I don't know what her other personality likes and dislikes!" Piya said while she was feeling bad for him as it was all an act and a part of their plan.

"But I don't know how I will handle her until she turns normal again!" Rudra said thinking deeply.

"It's very easy. Just obey her every word and don't do anything which will make her angry!" Piya chirped happily but Rudra didn't like this thought as till now he is the one who orders around everyone but now someone will order him!

"Okay, fine! Let me see what I can do!" He relaxed a bit and shoved his hand in his pants pocket.

"Now, that's like a good man! Best of luck!" Piya chirped happily and hung up the call.

Rudra sighed and took out a small bracelet from his pants pocket. He held it in his hand for some time and recalled how he got the bracelet.

Flashback, Seven Years Ago

"You are my good friend from now onwards, keep this with you." Neha said, taking off her bracelet from her hand and tying it on his hand like a friendship bracelet while he kept staring at it.

"Promise me, I will see you tomorrow!" Neha spoke while the nurse helped her to lie down after she took her medicines after throwing a lot of tantrums.

"Your parents will come anytime, be a good girl and try to be safe!" Rudra told her coldly, not promising her anything.

"Will you stay with me until my parents come? Please." Neha requested him, making a crying face.

"Fine." Finally, he agreed to one thing to make her smile and started waiting for her parents.

"Hey, can you come to meet me every day whenever my parents go to work? I don't want to be alone, I would feel very scared!" Neha requested showing puppy eyes.

"Fine!" He agreed quickly so that she doesn't talk more and takes a rest.

"Promise me, you would always be with me when there would be no one for me?" Even Neha didn't know why she was talking like that, maybe because her heart was afraid so she wanted to feel safe.

"Fine, I promise!" Rudra said, closing his eyes and Neha stopped talking after that.

After her parents came, he left immediately without saying a proper goodbye and innocent Neha didn't know that it was going to be the last time she was going to see him!

She kept waiting for him for days, days turned to months, and months turned to a year and soon she forgot about him like he never existed in her life.

And after three years when she saw him while going to college, it was like a first meeting for her as she didn't remember him at all but Rudra, he isn't a person who forgets!

Flashback Ends

He smiled thinking about her and maybe he was kinda hurt that she doesn't remember him. He kept the bracelet back in his pocket and went inside the meeting room.

"Sorry, gentlemen! I need to go now as it's an urgent matter! The deal is finalized so Rishabh will explain the further details!" Rudra informed them and they agreed to him.

They did a handshake with him and Rudra left to go downstairs after giving instructions to Rishabh.

"Miss, it's already been half an hour. Don't waste your time and also ours! Rudra will never pay attention to a girl like you!" The receptionist said in a bitchy tone and Neha lost her calm.

"How dare you call Rudra by his name?" Her voice boomed and everyone got terrified seeing her raging face.
