LOGINSerena’s POV
“Yes,” I said. “I agree.”
I nodded, my mind already calculating how quickly I could pay off the loan sharks.
Dr. Kane gently pushed the folder to me and opened a pen, placing it right in front of me. “This is the contract. It shows the medical procedures, your responsibilities, and the payment terms. I’ll go over the important parts, but you can take your time to review it as well.”
I found myself nodding to everything he said. He pointed to a few paragraphs, explaining the payment schedule, the confidentiality clause, and the medical commitments. I was so focused on the parts he highlighted that I barely glanced at the rest.
“Are you satisfied with everything, Miss?” He asked, holding my gaze.
“Yes,” I said quickly.
“Excellent. Then we just need your signature here… and here… and initial here.”
I signed exactly where he pointed and kept thinking of one thing. My freedom from those men.
When I finished, he smiled, closing the folder and placing it neatly on the desk. “Welcome onboard, Miss Serena. We’ll begin the medical preparations next week.”
I exhaled slowly, feeling a weight lift from my shoulders. For the first time in days, I could breathe without panicking.
As I stood to leave, Dr. Kane handed me a plain white envelope. “This is the initial payment. I understand you have urgent matters to settle. Do consider this a gesture of good faith from our side.”
I opened it just enough to see the cheque signed in my name and my knees felt weak.
“Thank you,” I murmured and walked out of the office.

That afternoon, I ran to the bank and transferred the money to my account.
I sighed in relief, knowing I had the complete amount. All I needed to do was give them everything when they came over.
I returned home happy. Maria met me at the door, her eyes widening when she saw my expression.
“Did you…?” she began.
“Yes,” I said simply. “It’s handled.”
I didn’t tell her the details. Some things were better left unspoken.
The next morning, I called the loan sharks. My voice didn’t tremble this time. “I have your money. All of it.”
There was silence on the other end, then a low laugh. “We’ll be there in an hour.”
When they arrived, I didn’t invite them inside. I walked out and wrote them a cheque.
The tallest one looked at the cheque and smiled. Then he gave a short nod. “Looks like we’re done here… for now.”
He wished. There was never a now. I closed the door the moment they walked off the porch. My hands shook as I locked it behind them, but my chest felt lighter.
I had paid them everything. I was free.
For the first time since my father’s death, the shadow over me began to fade.
“Good riddance,” I hissed.
A Week Later:
My life was starting to look nice, but there were still issues with the company. The board members fired almost everyone and fought on who would be the new Chairman.
I sat there watching them, and when I tried to assert my dominance, they silenced me.
“We can't give you the company just because you're his daughter. So what if you have the same blood?” One of the executives lashed out.
“She knows nothing about the company. Isn't she used to partying and shopping?” Another joined.
“This is for mature people, not idle minds. We won't be in support of your ascension. You have never worked here and just because your father owns this company means you get to have it too. It's not for waste!”
I blinked, my hand squeezing my suit skirt as I hadn't expected any of this to happen. Uncle Gabriel had warned that they would be brutal, but not in a million years did I expect this.
They were right. I knew nothing about Dad's work. I had been spoiled rotten and never saw the need for it until Dad was ready to retire.
“All in favour of Mrs. Serena Vale being the new Chairman of Vales Global Holdings raise your hand!” A middle aged woman in glasses spoke.
I dared to look around and saw no one had raised their hand in my favour except uncle Gabriel.
He smiled at me and I returned a weak smile.
“I know she's your niece but the company will not sacrifice its hard work to a child,” the woman announced. I took it, she was the C.E.O because everyone seemed to respect her the most.
“You haven't given her a chance,” Uncle Gabriel spoke calmly.
An older man spoke. “We don't take foolish chances. The former Chairman was kind hearted and hardworking. But his kind heart almost drove us into bankruptcy.”
“We want efficiency not mistakes. The board will have a vote among ourselves next month to appoint our new chairman,” the woman announced and the rest nodded.
“Grace, isn't that too much?” Uncle Gabriel complained.
“No, as the chief executive officer. It is my duty to make sure this company survives. And I am ready to go any lengths to ensure that,” she announced.
“But…” Uncle Gabriel argued, and she cut him off with her hand.
“That's enough for today. The meeting is dismissed,” she said and everyone stood.
I had my face in my hands as they walked out. I felt a soft hand rub my shoulder and I looked up to see Uncle Gabriel smiling warmly at me.
“Don't listen to her. She's always been a bitch.”
I nodded, trying to get hope, but I knew it deep in my heart. I was screwed. Grace wasn't going to make it easy for me to get the company.
So, I had to act fast. “Let's go home,” Uncle Gabriel breathed.
He turned to leave, and I held his hand, stopping him. He turned to face me, surprised and I blurted out. “ Please, take the company. I trust you.”
“What?” He asked, startled.
Serena’s POVAs I shut the door, my back stayed glued to the door. There was a tension in the air that I couldn’t ignore. The scent of him was everywhere—a dangerous mix of musk and citrus, and a dash of spirit. My eyes locked on his and my heart did a million backflips. He was leaning over his desk, and his body resembled a work of art. My eyes drew immediately to the tattoo from his neck covering his left arm…and that just made him even more sexy. And then my eyes travelled to his rock hard abs, and his v-line was carved to perfection and his—"You should be sleeping." he said, drawing my eyes away from his body. I cleared my throat, "I couldn't sleep," I whispered, hoping that my drooling wasn’t so obvious. "Come here." As he said those words, a current surges through me. He didn’t bark, he didn’t shout. His voice was so calm, yet it caused a storm to rage inside my belly.Against the loud voice screaming in my head that listening to him was a grave mistake, I walked toward
Serena’s POV "Everybody get down!" someone screamed. My feet were frozen in place, immobilized in fear. The screams were deafening, but I could not move. Another bang sliced through the atmosphere. My body began to tremble. Was it a gun shot? Or a bomb?? I didn't have the time to wonder. Adrian immediately slammed his body against mine to shield me, his hand pressing my head down into his chest."Don't move," he hissed, his voice a low. A louder sound tore through the air—now that sounded like a gunshot. The screams from the ballroom increased and I could hear the frantic shuffling of people running for their lives."Boss! This way! The east exit is compromised!"I looked over Adrian’s shoulder to see his head of security, a huge man named Marcus around the corner with a gun in his hands.Adrian didn't let go of me for a single moment. He kept one arm locked around my waist, practically lifting me off my feet as he began to move. I stumbled as we rushed, but he hauled me up b
Serena’s POVI stomped away from Adrian, cursing him with every step. That bloody, deranged pervert! The nerve of him. Giving me rules like I was a bloody child and threatening me with jail time!!I had to endure this for eight and a half more months. Eight and a half months of being his "property,", of being controlled and treated like a prisoner. I wasn't sure if my sanity would remain intact by the time I gave birth to his child and the contract expired. As I moved through the crowd, I noticed many eyes straying towards me. Most men paused their conversations and their eyes lingered on my body, filled with lust. Most women whispered as I passed, their eyes lacking any warmth or adoration. But I was not moved by it. I was already used to this kind of attention. Growing up as the daughter of a millionaire, I was used to being the center of attention in any room. My father made sure of it.He always said, "A queen doesn't look for attention. She simply exists and the world adjus
Adrian’s POV"The perimeter was breached at the northern docks," the voice on the other end was distorted, a digital mask hiding the identity of one of my most trusted informants.“How much of the shipment stolen?” "They didn't steal anything. They just... looked. It’s a message, boss. Someone is scouting the territory."I tightened my grip on my phone. "And the source?""Unknown. They’re ghosts. And their trace is clean. Too clean.""Find the perpetrator," I commanded, my voice dropping dangerously low . "I don’t care what it costs or how many bodies you have to drop to find a lead. Bring them to me alive. I want to show them exactly what happens to those who think they can cross me."I ended the call, the silence of the room returning like a heavy cloud settling over me. Who could it be? The options were endless. And as I sifted through the list of possible intruders, a sound invaded the silence. I turned, expecting to see a maid or a guard. Instead, I saw her.She was coming d
“What are you doing here??” I stared at the door in horror.Adrian stood in the doorway, his tall frame blocking out the light from the hallway. My breath hitched in my throat as he stared at me. I was still halfway through changing, the dress clutched desperately against my chest, leaving too much to his dark gaze. "I want to dress up." I managed to whisper, my voice cracking. "Leave, Adrian."He said nothing. He didn't even make any moves to leave. His dark eyes slowly began to roam over my body. It wasn't just a glance, he looked at me the same way a predator eyes a helpless prey—his eyes were filled with a hunger, entirely unimpressed by my pathetic attempts to hide.I began to feel overly conscious. I was here, standing in the middle of the room, half naked, being watched by this pervert! I turned to bolt towards the bathroom. "Stop."The command was quiet, but it hit me like a brick wall. I froze in my tracks. My brain screamed at me to keep moving, to lock the door, to c
I was painfully aware of everything. The firmness of his thighs beneath me. The intoxicating scent of citrus and musk mixed together. The way his chest rose slowly behind my back as if he wasn’t affected at all, while my entire body was spiraling. My cheeks burned as I sat rigidly on Adrian’s lap. My nails dug into my dress like it was the only thing keeping me grounded. Keeping me composed. I shifted, only slightly—but it didn’t go unnoticed by him. I felt him grow against my core, and I couldn’t help the wetness that began to pool between my legs.My god, he was huge! His arm tightened around my waist immediately.“Don’t,” he groaned, leaning in until his hot breath brushed my ear. I froze, a chill crawling up my spine. “If you move again,” he continued quietly, his voice calm and deadly, “you’ll add more hours to your punishment.”The heat crawled up my neck, and I could already tell that my pale face had reddened, and I hated myself for it. I hated that my body reacted to
Adrian's POV The cold shower did little to wash away the tension that had settled in my shoulders overnight. I dressed in a charcoal suit, silver cufflinks, black tie and made my way downstairs for breakfast. Breakfast was already laid out in the dining room. I settled into my chair with the mor
Serena’s POV: I couldn't help the tension that twisted my insides into a hot aching mess. I sat in the same chair Adrian had placed me in the night before, my eyes unable to meet his. I focused on a particular spot on my lap, my hands playing with the fabric. “Look at me, Serena,” he said coldly.
Pain seared through my heart as I packed my clothes. Maria helped me get the other things ready and he just stood by the door, his arms folded, his eyes fixed on me, as if protecting something that could slip off anytime soon.I wish I could just kill him already. He's such a pain in the ass.“Hurr
She looked right into my eyes and spat the evil words. The itchy liquids escaped her lips and found my face.“Uhm, I'm sorry, I'm here on a contract…”A loud hiss escaped her lips as her feet echoed against the floor loudly, the anger brewing in her chest hit the roof. I was really trying to mainta
