The heavy leather strap cut through the air, hitting my back with a sickening crack that made my vision turn pure white.

I fell to my knees on the cold floor, screaming as the metal buckle tore into my shoulders. Pain bloomed across my soft skin, sharp and blinding.

"You selfish, useless fat pig" Father yelled, bringing the belt down on my thighs again and again. "You think you are better than us? You think you get to go off to college while we starve?"

"Father, please" I sobbed, shielding my head with my arms as the leather bit into my back. "Stop! Please"

"You are going to that club," he snarled, grabbing my hair and dragging me across the floor toward the small utility room under the stairs. "You are worthless anyway. Nobody else would ever want a girl built like a house"

He shoved me inside the dark room, slamming the heavy wooden door shut. The lock clicked loudly from the outside.

"Stay in there and think about what you owe this family," Father spat through the wood.

I curled into a tight ball on the dusty floor, my whole body shaking violently as hot tears streamed down my face. My back felt like it was on fire. Every breath I took sent a sharp wave of agony through my ribs. I pulled up the hem of my shirt in the dim light creeping under the door. Deep, swollen purple welts were already rising across my pale skin.

For two days, I was trapped in that dark closet. No food, no water

On the evening of the second day, the key finally turned in the lock. The door swung open, revealing my father standing there with his bandaged hand tucked into his pocket.

"Get up," he ordered coldly. "They are on their way."

I slowly pushed myself up against the wall, my legs trembling beneath my weight. I had not eaten a single crumb in forty eight hours. My stomach was a hollow, aching void, and my head spun with dizziness.

"Look at you," Father sneered, eyeing my body with total disgust. "Still as heavy as ever. I kept you without food for two days hoping you would lose some weight, but you still look like a whale."

I clutched my bruised arms, keeping my head down, refusing to give him the satisfaction of seeing me cry again.

"Chloe is upstairs dressing for a dinner date with a wealthy family," Father added, a proud smile touching his lips. "I am finding her a proper husband. Someone with real money. Unlike you, she actually has a future."

"She built that future on my blood," I whispered, my voice raspy and broken.

Father slapped my face so hard my jaw cracked. "Keep your mouth shut The men are here. Move"

He grabbed my bruised wrist, dragging me out into the small living room.

Two broad men in heavy black leather jackets stood near the front door. They looked at me, then looked at each other with raised eyebrows and deep scowls on their faces.

"Is this a joke, George?" the taller man asked, his voice rough like gravel. "We came for a girl to work the floor at The Velvet Lounge. This girl is fat"

"She is strong," Father lied quickly, stepping forward with a nervous, sweaty smile. "She can work long shifts. She does whatever she is told. Just take her shes good, she'll clear my interest for this month"

The taller man stepped close to me, reaching out a heavy hand to grab my chin, forcing my head up. He looked down at my full chest, my wide hips, and the dark purple bruises visible on my collarbone.

"She is completely out of shape," the man muttered, spitting on the floor. "Boss Lorenzo usually likes them slim and sleek. But I suppose we can put her in the back room or make her host the side lounge. The club is short on hands tonight anyway."

"Take her, take her," Father pleaded, pushing me toward them. "She is yours."

Without another word, the man shoved me out the front door into the rain. I did not look back at my father. I did not look up at the second floor window where I knew Chloe was watching.

They threw me into the back seat of a dark sedan. The car ride was completely silent, the city lights blurring through the rain slicked windows as we drove deeper into the high end district.

Twenty minutes later, the car pulled into a private underground garage beneath a massive, glowing building. Neon pink and purple lights painted the concrete walls, spelling out the words THE VELVET LOUNGE in tall script.

The guard dragged me out of the car and shoved me down a carpeted hallway, stopping in front of a small dressing room filled with long racks of clothes.

"You have thirty minutes to get ready," a sharp voice called out from the shadows.

A tall woman with slicked black hair and dark red lipstick stepped into the light, holding a tiny bundle of fabric in her hands. She tossed the clothes onto my lap.

"Your first night determines whether you stay alive in this house," the woman said, leaning in close, her cold eyes scanning my face. "The men who walk through those doors are high ranking mobsters, corrupt politicians, and killers. They are not nice. If you displease them, you vanish, and nobody comes looking."

"I... I don't..." I whispered, holding the small fabric against my chest. "I cannot do this."

"You belong to Boss Lorenzo now," she snapped. "Put the outfit on and get out to the lounge, or I will have the guards throw you into the alley for the dogs."

She turned and slammed the door shut, leaving me alone in front of a giant wall mirror.

My hands shook as I unfolded the clothes. It was barely anything at all. Just two thin black strings designed to tie around my neck and hips, leaving almost nothing to the imagination.

I stripped out of my dirty clothes, my stomach dropping into a bottomless pit as I looked at my reflection.

The dark purple and blue bruises from my father's belt covered my soft shoulders, back, and thighs. My body was plush, full, and plump, completely filling the tiny straps of fabric that stretched tightly over my wide hips and heavy chest. I looked exposed, raw, and completely defenseless.

An hour later, I stepped out of the dressing room, my heart hammering against my ribs like a trapped bird. I pulled my long hair over my shoulders, trying to hide the bruises on my neck, hoping desperately that I could just blend into the dim purple lights of the club and stay unnoticed.

Lorenzo continued to tend to my injured foot in silence. As his thick fingers spread the cool ointment over my swollen skin, his eyes drifted higher up my legs. He noticed the yellow and purple marks left by my father's belt, along with the bloody scrapes on my wrist from Camila's nails. His face remained hard as a rock, but his jaw clenched tightly. "What are these?" he asked, his voice low and dangerous. "My father," I whispered, keeping my gaze locked on the floor. "He was angry when I did not bring home enough money last week. And the wrist... that was Camila." Lorenzo did not say a word. He reached into the small kit, scooped up more balm, and began to apply it to the other wounds on my legs and arms. His touch was firm, almost mechanical, yet he did not press hard enough to make me flinch. The contrast between his cold eyes and his attentive hands sent a confusing shiver down my spine. Once he finished wrapping a clean white bandage around my foot, he stood up, wiping his h

I stood in the doorway holding the black box long after the guard left. The silk ribbon felt soft under my fingers, almost too nice for whatever waited inside. My foot throbbed with every small shift of weight. The purple swelling had already started to darken around my toes.I carried the box to the narrow bed and set it down. The lid lifted with a quiet creak. Inside lay a short black dress. Thin straps. Soft fabric that clung when I touched it. It covered more than the strings from the club, but not by much. The neckline dipped low. The hem would sit high on my thighs. My stomach turned.I limped into the small bathroom and turned on the shower. Hot water hit my skin and made every bruise sting. I washed carefully around the marks on my wrist and the swollen foot. Soap ran pink over the raw places where Camila’s nails had broken skin. I stayed under the spray longer than I needed, letting the heat loosen the tight knots in my shoulders.Oh God,

Camila's nails dug so deep into my bruised wrist that I could feel my skin tearing. I stared at her, completely terrified, my mind going totally blank. My throat dry as dust. I swallowed the lump in my throat but still could not speak "Speak!" Camila demanded, giving my arm a sharp, painful jerk that sent a spike of agony straight up to my shoulder. "What are you doing in this house?""I... I do not know," I stuttered, shaking my head frantically as tears blurred my vision. "I just... my father owes him money. That is all. I swear!""Do not play stupid with me," Camila snarled, her face twisting into a mask of pure hatred. "Lorenzo does not bring debt collectors into his private villa.""Camila!" Lorenzo's deep voice boomed from the end of the hallway, sharp and impatient. "Get in here!"Camila froze. She let go of my wrist, turning back into the woman from a while ago Grace filled and composed “Coming” she called then looked back at me, her face turned sour as she sneered “Stay th

He stood there for a moment, catching his breath. Then he reached into his pocket, pulled out a clean white handkerchief, and wiped himself off. He tucked everything away and zipped up.Lorenzo bent down, gripped both of my shoulders hard, and forced me to look up at him. His eyes were cold again."Listen carefully," he said. "Mrs Moretti is here. She does not like fat bitches in her house. Keep your mouth shut, stay out of her way, and do not make her notice you. If you cause a problem, I will not protect you. Understand?"I nodded, still on my knees, the mess cooling on my skin."Good," he said. "Now stand up and clean yourself. We are going to meet her."My hands trembled as I used a damp cloth from the bathroom sink to wipe my face and neck. Every movement made the my shoulders throb in horror, I pulled my oversized shirt down as far as it would go, but there was no hiding what I was. I felt cheap, dirty, and utterly fat."Hurry up," Lorenzo barked from the doorway, leaning agains

Move your legs, Kate!" Lorenzo barked, his sharp voice ringing out like a gunshot in the silent dressing room.My head was pounding so hard my vision blurred. I hurriedly threw my old jeans and oversized shirt back on over the tiny strings, my hands shaking so violently I could barely zip my bag. Within minutes, his guards shoved me into the leather back seat of his tinted SUV.We pulled up outside my father's house thirty minutes later. The door swung open, and Father gasped as Lorenzo walked into the tiny living room, looking like a lord entering a dirty barn."What is the meaning of this, Don Moretti?" Father stammered, backing away.“What has she done, please show mercy and take her back she's…”"I am buying your daughter," Lorenzo said smoothly, resting a hand inside his jacket. "Keep the three million dollars. Your debt is officially settled."My breath hitched. I shook my head wildly, trying to catch my father's eye, silently begging him to refuse, to fight for me just once.Lo

  • The Mafia's Don Plus Size Bride    The man at the altar

I stared up at him from the cold floor, my mind completely numb. This could not be happening. The man looking down at me in an expensive dark suit, radiating pure danger, was Liam. The same gentle, sweet guy who used to carry my books in high school. The boy who brought me soup when I was sick, who held my hand softly under the porch light, and who I left broken and waiting at the church altar four years ago."I said get out," his cold voice echoed through the dim room.My heart hammered against my ribs like a trapped bird. Terrified that he was talking to me, I scrambled back onto my bare knees, trying to stand up and run down the dark hallway."Not you, dumb ass," he barked, his sharp tone cutting through the air like a whip. "The rest of you, get out"The remaining guards, girls, and wealthy guests did not wait for a second warning. They practically tripped over themselves in a desperate rush to leave the lounge, slamming doors behind them until the massive room fell into absolute
