The Tunnel

Eva's Pov

I didn't want to believe Dante was dead. He couldn't be. And at least if he ought to be dead, I should be his killer. Not some strange psycho guy.

I stared at the man before me. There was something in his gaze, something sinister that made me start to doubt if I was human and wonder why they were all after me.

What did these men want from me? It was obvious they weren't human. There must be something attracting them to me.

"Your lover is dead." He said again, trying to make

The CageEva's PovI was back in the spacious but suffocating room. I had apologized and now stood in the center of the lavish room, surrounded by people I didn't trust.Fake smiles and well-practiced laughs filled the air, but I knew beneath the mask, they were all here for something. All the compliments and handshakes felt like an insult. They were here to feast on the wealth they believed I was hiding. I wished they would take my place.I forced a smile as I nodded at my old boss, in a bright red gown, her fingers heavy with rings that looked more like shackles than adornments."Oh, darling, you've been away for so long! Everyone thought you'd fallen into some tragic circumstance." She leaned closer, lowering her voice."I always knew you were smarter than that. All this talk of poverty, it's just clever, isn't it? You've kept it hidden, your real fortune. Good for you."My jaw clenched, and I bit down the urge to snap. I couldn't tell if she was mocking me or if she genuinely beli

The ToastEva's Pov"No matter what, meet me at the Club's drink house." I couldn't believe it. Didn't want to believe it. Not yet.I kind of knew this wasn't the end for me and there was still hope. I glanced outside the window, a smile on my face.My stepmum stared at me and hissed."What is making you laugh? I promise to make your life miserable." I gave her a stare and kept a straight face.I stared out the window again, watching the evening sky drape the estate in a soft, warm glow. The sun had set, and the sky was a golden brown light.I loved watching the sunset when I was little, but now they are all memories.Soon the lights from the beautiful buildings flickered on one by one, like fireflies coming to life in the dusk, filling the neighborhood with a comforting glow.I smiled at the beauty. It was different from the chaos in my mind.I gulped as the car rolled deeper into the estate. I sighted most of my childhood friends' houses, but they've abandoned me now. I mean, who wo

The Puppet StringsEva's Pov"Dante is dead this time, killed by the man who abducted you."So they knew. I couldn't believe this. I didn't want to believe it.Dante can't be dead. I believe he wasn't. Immediately, I tried to feel for his pulse through the mate bond, but couldn't."You are no longer marked to that cursed Lycan. We got rid of his mark before his death. We didn't want you to feel the excruciating pain he went through. You need to thank us for that." She said, with pride like she had done a great thing."How dare you?" I yelled, tears blinding my eyes as I pounced on her, sinking my teeth in her ear.I would make her leave this place with one ear."Eva, stop this." My dad yelled, but didn't touch me. We both fell on the bed."Eva, let her go before she hurts you. She will." But I didn't listen. I didn't care.I wanted her to feel the pain I felt.Blood filled my mouth. It was metallic and warm, as I dug my nails into her scalp, ripping at her hair and, surprisingly, I wa

  • The Mafia's Forbidden Obsession     115: The Truth

The TruthEva's PovI was still shaking when I got to a big door in the yard.It looked like a gate, but it wasn't.The narrow wooden frame seemed out of place. It was unnatural against the backdrop of crumbling bricks and overgrown weeds.I was scared. I expected his men, those men I had seen earlier, to come out and stop me from leaving.I didn't take a step. This might be a trap. It wouldn't be this easy to escape. But no one was coming. The hum of car engines reached my ears, faint but growing louder. That didn't make any sense. How could I be by the highway? These atrocities can't be happening here. Not on the road, not in broad daylight. But there was this undeniable sound of traffic, horns blaring as if I were on a city street. If I didn't leave, I would go back to that hell. I needed to take this chance. My hand hovered over the doorknob, my mind racing with a hundred questions.I took a deep breath, steadying my shaking hands. I can't just stand here forever. I had to know w

The EscapeEva's Pov"What are you doing?" Dante said, clearing his throat.I immediately pulled back from him."I'm sorry. I was just glad to see that you were alive." I stopped speaking, staring at him."He was so sure you were dead." But Dante didn't say a word and just stared at me with those same eyes that always seemed to see right through me, into the darkest corners of my soul.My eyes scanned his body and there it was, on his shoulder. Blood."You're bleeding."I couldn't hold back anymore and threw my arms around him once again, pulling him close, feeling the rise and fall of his chest against mine. But he pulled me back, and embarrassment crept up my face."Lover girl," Chloe linked me as I frowned."Why are you not saying anything to me?" I was surprised that the once tough Dante was being so calm. He looked at me like he was studying me, like he was trying to confirm something."I don't know what you're thinking, but it's me and no one else," I said, flashing him a smile,

I might not want Dante dead, but he was never my lover.Instead of acting suspiciously, I decided to give him what he longed for.Tears.I acted like the death of Dante hit me in the gut. Despite having a feeling that Dante wasn't dead. This guy staring at me doesn't know that I can feel if Dante is in trouble or if he is alive or not, because of the mate bond.
