Dad looked at his hands on the table. “I don’t deserve a son-in-law as good as Cullen. That boy was devoted to his parents and in-laws, and he treated you well. He even forgave you and took you back after your betrayal.”

“You know about that?” I asked after my surprise subsided.

“Of course. Cullen discussed it with me because it concerns Bailey’s reputation.” Dad took a deep breath and exhaled slowly.

I was indeed foolish. I wasted the best man who ever loved me. In my lifetime, I might never find such love again. But I would make up for it by raising our son well. I wouldn’t die before Keane could stand on his two feet.

I wouldn’t let Cullen down. His sacrifices and love for me and Keane wouldn’t be in vain. Even if he couldn’t see my change, I’d keep my promise to him. Our son would grow up to be a good man like his father.

“Are you going to sue the egg thief?” Dad asked.

“He’s gotten his punishment,” I replied.

Dad looked at me intently. “Darcy,” he murmured.

My parents knew what

[Sinclair]Taylor was thrilled when she called me that morning. She didn't think twice and agreed to all my terms. Neil went to her apartment to deliver the recording. I gave the broadcasting rights to her media outlet. Darcy would sign the letter.Conrad had a hard time finding the recording. His men searched every corner of Sean's house and office. They even looked for it in the junkyard where Cullen's car was. After finding the dashcam, they had to restore the deleted recording.I didn't choose the wrong person to handle the technology. Conrad successfully restored the recording in good condition. I kept the evidence to release it at the right time. And what I was waiting for finally arrived.Neil knocked on my office door just before lunchtime. He entered after I invited him in. Seeing him nod, I turned toward the computer. I opened a new window, selected a browser, and played a video.“Joaquin Fernandez turned himself in for the crime he committed fourteen years ago. He killed Ha

My curiosity in the morning was nothing compared to what I felt after talking to Taylor. I had trouble concentrating when interviewing job applicants. I had to glance at the book in front of me to help me remember my questions.I recorded the interviews because I had to listen to them again to understand their answers. Even though their positions were insignificant, I couldn't just choose anyone to work at my inn.I finished my work at four. Lydia and Vicky handed in their work reports. I reviewed them while waiting for my cousin to arrive. Since the woman came thirty minutes early, I put the reports in my bag to check them on the way home.“Vicky, Lydia, I’m leaving first. You don’t need to say goodbye. See you tomorrow,” I hurriedly said.“See you tomorrow,” they replied, looking confused.I took Taylor’s hand and led her upstairs. The workers were renovating the dining room. The office on the upper floor was more conducive to having a conversation. I asked Scott to bring food if Wh

I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly to calm myself down. I turned toward my house. I couldn't bring my problems to work. Once I felt calmer, I took Scott's hand and got out of the car.Sean or Bridget couldn’t have done that. Was it Sinclair who spread it? Why didn’t he warn me first? I had the right to decide whether or not he could release the video to the public. However, Sinclair gave the broadcast rights to my cousin’s media company. I couldn’t be angry because he was helping to boost my family’s company ratings. Oscar must be happy that the news went viral. That man loved popularity, no matter if it was a scandal or someone else’s disgrace.“Darcy, you have to see this!” Whitney greeted me.I smiled and walked toward the kitchen. The place was completely different. Workers were building partitions in a separate room for the chef and his assistant’s workspace. They were repairing the counter, replacing cabinets, and installing cooking equipment. They would finish their work i

[Darcy]I sighed with relief when I saw that my house was quiet. Only the interior design company's trucks were there, working on renovating the building. I was worried that reporters would swarm the place, making it hard for us to work.My colleagues were in our new workspace. A large cubicle was on the right side of the room, near the window. On the left were tables and chairs for meetings. There were six small cubicles, each equipped with comfortable chairs and office equipment on the desks.I was happy to see live plants in the corner of the room, a bookcase, a fireproof cabinet for files, and a buffet with a printer and television on top. The three women looked at me with hopeful eyes.“Have you chosen your desks?” I asked Lydia and Vicky.“Can we choose?” they asked in unison.I nodded. “Yes. That's my desk.” I pointed to the largest one. “You can choose any cubicle for your workspace. They're all the same size.”“In that case, I'll take this one.” Lydia approached the cubicle o

The police completed their investigation and accepted the evidence I sent anonymously. They summoned and interrogated the people involved in the case yesterday. Although the police hadn’t held a press conference, the media knew the results. The judge allowed an examination of Channing Incorporation's assets. The police found evidence that the company's executives had committed tax evasion and failed to pay their bank debts. Ironically, Sean invested Channing Enterprise's funds in a fraudulent scheme.Sean's close ties with high-ranking officials at the Department of Taxation and Finance and the CEO of the bank where he borrowed money made the embezzlement and mounting debts difficult to detect. The high demand for campaign funds urged the man to use Channing Enterprise’s money.“Poor Cullen,” I muttered.“Did you read the news about Channing Incorporation?” Neil guessed.“Yes. I knew the company was doomed, but Sean sacrificed his son’s business, too. That’s crazy. The company was sup

[Sinclair]His men weren't in the suite, but they greeted me when I opened the door. I knew they would rush to protect their boss. If anyone else had come, his enemies would have killed Dustin.I turned to the former SW Nightclub customer, “If I were you, I’d fire all these useless people,” I said sarcastically.I didn’t wait for his response and turned away. His men moved aside, letting me pass. Someone like Dustin wouldn’t dare cause a scene. If people found out he was with his mistress, it would ruin his reputation. Therefore, I was sure the photo would disappear from the media.I would deal with Meryl’s issue at a different time. That woman escaped punishment after repeatedly hurting Darcy. She might think I wouldn’t touch her, no matter what she did to my wife. I would teach her a valuable lesson.“Sir, there are journalists,” Neil reported.“Have security block them from entering,” I ordered.Neil called someone. Security guards emerged from the security post near the house. Sev
