[Sinclair]

Darcy was smart. She was used to dealing with cunning and manipulative people. It would have been easy for her to discuss a prenuptial agreement when she had the upper hand.

However, I didn't let that happen. I teased and took that woman's mind off the prenuptial contract. Because she had so many problems, she had a hard time focusing her mind. She struggled between taking her son or saving her parents.

I didn't expect her to choose George and Diana over Keane. Her parents were evil. They borrowed money and couldn't pay it back, plunging Darcy into the nightlife. Yet she chose to save those two criminals.

“Four,” Darcy whispered. “That's enough, Sinclair.”

“Sin,” I corrected.

She didn't respond. I look at her face. She was fast asleep in my arms. I turned her to lie on her back. Her face shouldn't hit the surface of the pillow. Seeing that her skin wasn't red, the doctor's medicine was working.

Her face was much better than on Sunday night. Had she not left the house on Mond

  • The Mafia's Frozen Bride   163|Overcoming Disappointment

I returned Lionel's greeting and entered the house. He glanced toward the family room, indicating where my family was. Since I hadn't eaten, I headed to the dining room. The maids served the food for me, and I enjoyed it in silence.I sighed and exhaled repeatedly, trying to calm my emotions. The series of events had caused my mood to fluctuate drastically. Sinclair's lies, Cullen's car dashboard video, and finally, my late husband's confession.I pushed those thoughts aside. It wasn’t the time to dwell on my feelings. Dashiell and Keane were waiting for me to come home. I read the letter in the park to satisfy my curiosity. I could think about the issue after the children were asleep.“Mom!!” Dashiell called out. He ran over and hugged me. “Did you just have dinner? We heard you come in, but you didn’t come to see us.”I kissed his head. “Yes,” I replied. I forgot. They could hear the front door from the room. A baby’s cry interrupted us. “Yes, Keane. Mommy’s coming.”“Why does my br

[Darcy]I waited anxiously in the parking lot. It had been seven months since I had been there, and everything was still the same. Nothing had changed, including the parking spot where the two men in high positions were sitting. The clock on my phone showed nine sharp. Why hadn't they arrived?I had informed my colleague at work that I would be late. There was an HR manager who could handle the job interview. I didn’t need to worry about no one replacing me.“Jack is entering the gate,” Scott reported.“Good. Let’s greet him in the lobby.” I slung my bag over my shoulder and got out of the car.Scott followed me to the lobby. We were on the second floor, in the parking area reserved for employees and executives. The interior of the building consisted only of corridors and elevators. No one would hear my conversation with the man.A car stopped near the door. A man got out and walked toward the elevator. He didn’t notice I was in the lobby, sitting on one of the chairs. I waited for th

  • The Mafia's Frozen Bride   161|Harsh Accusation

People might say whatever they want about me, but I ignore them. Even the most hurtful words and phrases couldn't hurt me. I shut down my emotions and held back my feelings when my father died, and everyone turned against me.That event was an experience I would never forget. After my father's death, people made malicious accusations about his company. The authorities didn’t focus on investigating the murder case but on the Wyndham Finance issue.Colleagues, clients, and even shareholders cornered me just because of the rumors spreading. After I desperately managed to fix the situation, they turned around and acted kindly toward me. I didn’t forget that humiliating incident and avoided those two-faced people. However, that bad experience pales in comparison to Darcy’s accusation. Her words pierced my heart. I felt pain in my chest hearing her dismiss my love for her. She was the first woman to make me fall in love so deeply.“I know you’re shocked. You need time to process this inform

[Sinclair]Taylor was thrilled when she called me that morning. She didn't think twice and agreed to all my terms. Neil went to her apartment to deliver the recording. I gave the broadcasting rights to her media outlet. Darcy would sign the letter.Conrad had a hard time finding the recording. His men searched every corner of Sean's house and office. They even looked for it in the junkyard where Cullen's car was. After finding the dashcam, they had to restore the deleted recording.I didn't choose the wrong person to handle the technology. Conrad successfully restored the recording in good condition. I kept the evidence to release it at the right time. And what I was waiting for finally arrived.Neil knocked on my office door just before lunchtime. He entered after I invited him in. Seeing him nod, I turned toward the computer. I opened a new window, selected a browser, and played a video.“Joaquin Fernandez turned himself in for the crime he committed fourteen years ago. He killed Hay

  • The Mafia's Frozen Bride   159|The Last Message

My curiosity in the morning was nothing compared to what I felt after talking to Taylor. I had trouble concentrating when interviewing job applicants. I had to glance at the book in front of me to help me remember my questions.I recorded the interviews because I had to listen to them again to understand their answers. Even though their positions were insignificant, I couldn't just choose anyone to work at my inn.I finished my work at four. Lydia and Vicky handed in their work reports. I reviewed them while waiting for my cousin to arrive. Since the woman came thirty minutes early, I put the reports in my bag to check them on the way home.“Vicky, Lydia, I’m leaving first. You don’t need to say goodbye. See you tomorrow,” I hurriedly said.“See you tomorrow,” they replied, looking confused.I took Taylor’s hand and led her upstairs. The workers were renovating the dining room. The office on the upper floor was more conducive to having a conversation. I asked Scott to bring food if Wh

  • The Mafia's Frozen Bride   158|Disturbing Footage

I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly to calm myself down. I turned toward my house. I couldn't bring my problems to work. Once I felt calmer, I took Scott's hand and got out of the car.Sean or Bridget couldn’t have done that. Was it Sinclair who spread it? Why didn’t he warn me first? I had the right to decide whether or not he could release the video to the public. However, Sinclair gave the broadcast rights to my cousin’s media company. I couldn’t be angry because he was helping to boost my family’s company ratings. Oscar must be happy that the news went viral. That man loved popularity, no matter if it was a scandal or someone else’s disgrace.“Darcy, you have to see this!” Whitney greeted me.I smiled and walked toward the kitchen. The place was completely different. Workers were building partitions in a separate room for the chef and his assistant’s workspace. They were repairing the counter, replacing cabinets, and installing cooking equipment. They would finish their work i
