Aryn

The morning after that hellish night felt unreal. For the first time in days, no guards shadowed my every move. No cold eyes watching from doorways. No locked doors.

Just silence.

When the maid came to tell me I was “free to leave,” her voice was too calm, too measured, like she was delivering a death sentence wrapped in silk.

“Mr. Micardo said you can go now,” she murmured. “He… wishes you well.”

Yeah, fucking right.

I didn’t wait for anyone to change their mind. I grabbed my bag, whatever little I had, and stormed out of that goddamn house before my brain had time to process what I was doing. The morning air hit me like a slap, sharp, cold, cleansing. My lungs finally expanded, like they hadn’t in forever.

The streets looked the same, but I didn’t. I wasn’t the same woman who had walked into Lorenzo’s world months ago, wide-eyed and pretending to be naive.

I hailed a cab. The driver looked at me through the rearview mirror, probably wondering if I was running from something. I

Aryn“What the fuck did you just say?” The words tore out of me before I even realized I’d moved. My hands slammed against the edge of the table, the sound sharp enough to echo through the room. “What the hell do you mean my parents killed Lorenzo’s parents?”Micardo didn’t flinch. He just lifted a napkin, dabbed the corner of his mouth, and gestured to the chair across from him like I hadn’t just snapped.“Sit,” he said quietly, voice smooth like oil. “It’s a long story.”“I’m not sitting until you explain what the fuck you mean.”He gave me a look, the kind that said he’d dealt with loud, defiant people before and it bored him more than anything. “You will sit,” he repeated, tone heavier this time, colder. “Or I’ll have the guards make you.”I hesitated. My pulse pounded in my temples, hot and fast, but the two guards by the door hadn’t moved an inch, and somehow that made it worse. They didn’t need to move. They knew I’d fold.So I sat. Slowly. My spine stiff as iron, my fingers cu

ArynI woke up to the sound of boots coming towards me. They sounded like guards ,My body still felt like it had been poured full of wet cement. My head throbbed. My arms ached from being bound too long. My throat felt scraped raw.I didn’t bother pretending to sleep — the sound was coming straight for me.The door opened with a slow metallic groan. Two men stepped in. They didn’t say a word. One of them pointed at me. The other grabbed a handful of rope and hoisted me up like I weighed nothing.“Hey!” I rasped, twisting weakly. “Where the hell are you taking me?”No answer. Just a grunt.I kicked once, uselessly. The towel slipped, and I grabbed for it on instinct, clutching it tight to my chest. One of the men looked down at me with this bored, almost annoyed expression, like he was carrying laundry instead of a person. They hauled me through a hallway that was brighter, warmer. The smell changed,no more bleach and blood. This place smelled of polish and citrus, maybe even flower

  • The Mafia's Kidnapped Bride   Chapter 149

LorenzoI was alone in my study, the house finally quiet after a long morning of meetings and men who thought they could bargain better than their brains allowed. I was halfway through a cigar, thinking about nothing and all the things I shouldn't, when my phone buzzed on silent. I let it buzz twice more, savoring the peace, then reached for it with the same slow, deliberate motion I used when handling problems I didn't intend to kill but might. The screen lit up with a message preview: Isabella. What did she want this time. I sighed but the moment I opened the message , I froze. My phone was in my hand, a cigar half-lit in the other, and the world just… stopped. The screen showed Aryn. Her face bruised, her lips cracked, her body tied to a fucking chair. And that smug little caption underneath the video—“Why don’t you come visit?”Isabella. That bitch really had the nerve. My grip tightened around the phone until the screen cracked, and the cigar dropped to the floor. The room went

ArynThe first thing I felt was someone splitting my skull open and pouring in cement.I groaned. My tongue felt like sandpaper and my mouth tasted bitter. My eyelids didn’t want to open, but I forced them apart anyway.Light stabbed straight into my brain. I winced and turned my face away. The room smelled like bleach and rust. Cold air crawled across my skin, and I realized I was still in the damn towel.“Fuck…” I muttered, voice cracking. My throat burned.I tried to move. My shoulders screamed as the ropes bit into my skin. My wrists were raw, probably bleeding. The ache shot up my arms. I tugged again, but they didn’t give. The bitch had tied me up good.My chest started rising and falling too fast. I hated that. Hated how panic felt, like drowning in air.“Okay,” I whispered to myself. “Okay, think.”My head turned slowly. The room was the same concrete box and I wondered how long I was out.“Hey!” I shouted, or tried to. My voice came out hoarse, weak. “Hey! Anyone fucking ther

Aryn“Who’s there?” I called out, my voice bouncing off the walls. For a moment, nothing. Then a girl stepped out from behind the column, small and delicate like something out of a painting. She had dark hair pulled into a tight braid and eyes too big for her face.“Don Lorenzo requires your attention,” she said. Her tone was polite, and she looked a little bit too young to be working as a maid.I frowned, pushing the hair out of my face. “The Don?” My voice dripped with disbelief. “He couldn’t send Marco?”She shook her head once. “He asked for you personally.”I tilted my head. “You’re new?”“Yes, miss,” she answered.I nodded, turning back toward the pool’s edge. “All right, tell him I’ll be there in five.”The sun had made the tiles warm beneath my feet as I climbed out of the water. I wrung water from my hair and wrapped the towel tight around myself as I moved toward the chair where I’d left my clothes. “He’s in his office, yeah?”Silence.I frowned. “Hey—did you hear me?”No
