Aryn

I was just about to dig into the last delicious piece of lasagna when the door swung open. A maid stepped in, looking like she was on a mission. I didn’t think much of it until she walked straight to Claudia, her presence almost commanding. She didn’t even need to say a word.

"Mrs Claudia," the maid said curtly, "Your husband requests your presence."

Claudia’s face paled instantly. I watched as her lips pressed into a thin line. For a moment, I wondered if she would argue or ask questions. But no. Instead, she flashed me a tight, almost fake smile, before nodding at the maid.

"Of course," Claudia said in a calm, collected voice.

She stood, smoothing down her dress as if it were the most natural thing in the world, and then she left, the maid trailing behind her. The door clicked shut behind them, leaving me in the kitchen alone, still holding the fork that had been inches away from the lasagna.

I sighed.

The food had been perfect. Rich. Satisfying. The perfect escape from the cha

ArynWe walked out into the cool night air. A sleek black car was waiting at the curb, its engine purring softly. A driver, a hulking man with a shaved head, opened the back door for us. I slid in, Marcus following, settling beside me.As the car pulled away from the mansion, I finally let out a long, shaky breath. The weight of the house, of Lorenzo, of Isabella, felt like it was slowly lifting.“So,” I said, turning to Marcus, “about this whole family tradition thing. Why the hell are we living with your aunties and uncles anyway? I thought you guys were, like, super private.”He shrugged, leaning back against the plush leather seats. “It’s tradition. When a DeLuca gets married, the extended family moves into the main estate for a period. To… welcome the new spouse. To ensure the lineage is strong, all that old-world bullshit.”I scoffed. “Bullshit is right. Why didn’t they live with us from the beginning?”He smirked. “Because you were on your honeymoon, Aryn. The extended families

Aryn“You know,” Marcus said, leaning against the doorframe of the guestroom we had entered, a smirk playing on his lips, “I know a place that could really take your mind off things.”I looked up from where I was sprawled on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. The dinner had been a fucking nightmare, and Isabella’s presence still felt like a sticky film all over me. My head throbbed, not just from the wine, but from the sheer exhaustion of pretending I didn’t care.“Oh yeah?” I deadpanned, not bothering to sit up. “And where the hell is that, Luca? A padded cell? Because that’s about the only place I want to be right now.”He chuckled, a low, rumbling sound. “Better than that, I promise. Think… loud music, flashing lights, no DeLucas in sight. Unless you count me, of course.”I squinted at him. “What are you talking about?”“A club,” he said, pushing off the doorframe and walking further into the room. He stopped by the window, looking out at the dark gardens. “A place where you

Chapter 84Aryn’s POVYou know that moment when you think surely, nothing else can fucking go wrong today? Yeah, I thought that too. Right before Queen Bitch Barbie herself slithered out of whatever crypt she sleeps in and tossed her venom into the air like confetti. Isabella.God, I hated her.She stood there with that smug fucking smirk like she’d just walked in on us fucking on the stairs instead of—oh, I don’t know—me verbally gutting Marcus. Her heels clicked against the marble floor as she walked toward us, each step echoing like a ticking time bomb in my already fucked-up day.“Jesus fucking Christ,” I muttered under my breath, pinching the bridge of my nose. “Did Satan himself send out invitations to ruin-my-life day or are you bitches just psychic?”Marcus shifted awkwardly beside me, clearing his throat like that would somehow make all this disappear. “Isabella,” he said, voice tight. “Now’s not the time—”She held up a perfectly manicured finger. “Shh. Let the grownups spea

ArynI stood there, seething, watching the black car disappear down the road. Every fiber of my being vibrated with pure, unadulterated rage. That arrogant, condescending son of a bitch! How dare he leave me stranded like that, all for the benefit of his little airport floozy? I swore I would get him back for this, and it wouldn't be with a polite note or a well-mannered confrontation. This was war.Just as I was about to consider walking all the way back to the mansion, a sleek, black SUV pulled up beside me. The window rolled down, revealing a face I didn't recognize but whose eyes held a flicker of amusement."Mrs DeLuca?" the driver asked, his voice calm, almost too calm. "Mr. DeLuca sent me to pick you up."I scoffed, yanking the door open and practically throwing myself into the backseat. "Oh, he did, did he? How incredibly thoughtful of the bastard." I slammed the door shut, making the driver flinch slightly. "Next time, tell your 'boss' to go fuck himself."The drive back was

ArynI rushed to the bed, heart thudding like a goddamn drum. There it was again—cream envelope, pale like parchment, sealed without tape. Like someone just casually fucking dropped it off.My fingers trembled as I picked it up, already knowing who it was from before I flipped it over.“Swan.”That stupid nickname. Only Arya ever called me that. I hated it. I loved it. Right now, it made me want to cry and scream into a pillow at the same damn time.I tore the envelope open with shaky hands, my eyes racing over her familiar handwriting. She had always written like she was in a hurry, like the world would explode if she didn’t get the words out fast enough.'I’m sorry I got you in trouble with Dimitri.I didn’t mean for any of this to happen, I swear. I’m not dead, no matter what that bastard says. There’s more going on than you think, and I promise I’ll explain it all later.Lorenzo is… good. I know that sounds insane, but he’s not the monster we think. I’m safe where I am. Safer than

ArynHe told me to eat.So I fucking ate.Not because I wanted to, not because I was suddenly okay with everything that had happened. I was far from okay. I was broken and bleeding in places no one could see. But when Lorenzo said he saw Lily, when he threatened her—I came back to life.I hated him.I hated him so much I could barely breathe when he was near me. But I needed Lily to stay safe, and if obeying him like a damn puppet would keep her breathing, then that’s what I’d fucking do.So the next morning, when the maid came in and told me, “The boss said you should get dressed and come down for breakfast,” I didn’t argue.I put on the cream-colored dress they left for me. I brushed my hair. I didn’t wear makeup—I didn’t need to pretend to be anything more than what I was: a girl playing hostage in a castle of wolves.I walked down the stairs, my bare feet padding against the cold marble until I reached the dining hall. And that’s when I realized he wasn’t eating alone. The long ma
