My body locked up the second I heard him.

I didn’t need a name.

Didn’t need a fucking face.

That voice? That voice was carved into my bones. It was the blade in my gut, the ghost in every shadow. Smooth. Calm. Controlled like a fucking symphony of doom.

I was trembling but it was definitely not from fear. No.

This was rage. Pure, blistering rage — so hot it made my vision go white behind the hood.

“Get this fucking sack off her,” the voice said, laced with that infuriating calmness, like this was a goddamn tea party and not a kidnapping.

The fabric over my head was ripped off. Light stabbed my eyes. I blinked rapidly, trying to adjust, every muscle in my neck tightening like a bowstring.

I was kneeling on the floor of a dimly lit room. Stone walls. Cold air. No windows. Just a single flickering bulb dangling from the ceiling like a noose.

And him.

He stood about ten feet away, hands in his pockets like the smug bastard he was, a fucking ghost from the past in a suit worth mo

ArynI paced the room like a caged animal. My wrists throbbed where the zip ties had dug into my skin, but I barely felt the pain anymore. My mind was spinning, every thought louder than the last.I have to get out of here. The room they put me in looked nothing like a cell — more like a guest room in a creepy mansion. But make no mistake, it was a prison. There were no windows. Just four walls painted soft gray and a heavy door that locked from the outside. A camera blinked red above the door. Watching me. I walked to the corner where one of the maids stood, pretending not to notice me.“Hey,” I said sharply. “You. What’s your name?”She didn’t answer. Just kept her head bowed, folding linens like her life depended on it.I stepped closer. “I know you can hear me. Do you like working for him? You think he’s a good man?”Still no answer. Her hands trembled slightly.“You don’t have to do this,” I said, softer now. “You can help me. Just open the door. I won’t say a word to anyone. I

ArynI stood frozen, my pulse hammering so loud in my ears it almost drowned out his words. The boss wants you.Fuck.My fingers tightened around the knife, the thin metal digging into my palm. Oleg leaned back into the sofa like this was some casual fucking reunion at a shitty diner, like we were going to talk about the good old days instead of the fact that I had spent years clawing my way out of the pit they had all thrown me into.I took a breath that felt like shards of glass sliding down my throat. "I owe your boss nothing," I spat, my voice low, shaking with rage and a panic I could barely keep from tearing me apart. "Dimitri and I had a deal. That's it. That chapter is closed. You can tell your precious boss to go fuck himself."Oleg's eyebrow twitched. For a moment, his expression remained flat — then he tilted his head, almost like he was studying a stray dog barking too close."Dimitri and you had a deal?" he repeated, rolling the words around his mouth as though savoring t

Aryn I stood there, the white hotel robe wrapped tightly around me, my hair still absurdly covered by the towel. I walked over to the shattered glass on the door frame, the shards glittering on the plush carpet like malicious jewels. My hand still ached from where Marcus had grabbed me, and my body felt violated, even though nothing truly happened. It was the principle of it, the sheer audacity."Fuck," I whispered. I kicked at a stray shard of glass, sending it skittering across the floor. I needed a shower. I needed to scrub him off me, scrub this whole goddamn night off me.Just as I took a step towards the bathroom, a new sound cut through the silence.Ding-dong.The doorbell. My head snapped up, my body tensing instantly. Who the hell was that now? My mind raced, trying to conjure a logical explanation. Housekeeping? Unlikely at this hour. Another one of Marcus's twisted games? Probably.I hesitated, my hand hovering over the doorknob. My eyes darted around the suite, searching

Aryn“Marcus—” I started, but before I could even think, he was on his feet.He grabbed me by the wrist so hard I thought he might snap it.“Shit—Marcus, let me go!” I hissed, twisting against his grip.He didn’t even look at me. His dark eyes were fixed on the door, that cold, calculating glint shining like a damn blade. Without saying a word, he dragged me deeper into the suite, past the stupid designer armchairs and glossy marble counters, until we were in the bedroom.“What the fuck are you doing?!” I yanked at his hand, but he pushed me forward, right up against the huge bed.He didn’t answer at first. Instead, he started pulling at the zipper of my dress.“Marcus!” I slapped his hands away, my voice sharp and shaking. “What the fuck do you think you’re doing?”He leaned close, his breath hot against my neck, his fingers still fumbling at the back of my dress. “It’s either you help me, or I fucking do it myself,” he growled into my ear.I froze.“What... help you? What the fuck d

  • The Mafia's Kidnapped Bride   Chapter 72

Aryn"What the fuck are you doing here?" I demanded, my voice filled with an edge of pure exhaustion. My hand, still gripping the knife, instinctively dropped to my side, the blade pointing uselessly at the plush carpet. It was a reflex, a futile attempt to appear less armed, as if he hadn't already seen it.He simply smiled, a slow, familiar curve of his lips. He raised the crystal flute to his mouth, taking another deliberate sip, his eyes never leaving mine. The clinking of the ice in the bucket was the only sound in the suite, increasing the tension. He seemed amused by my surprise. My gaze flickered around the room. The door was still ajar, a sliver of the brightly lit hallway visible. I slammed it shut with my foot, the heavy wood thudding against the frame. The lock clicked into place with a satisfying finality, as if I could somehow create a barrier between myself and the world outside.I turned back to him, my eyes narrowed, scrutinizing every inch of his perfectly composed f
