VESPER GREY LYSAN POV

The exhibition was going great.

All of the items displayed were sold out almost at the start of the night, and now that we were nearing the end, I couldn't help but feel both excited and nervous as the orders kept pouring in.

Niklaus walked toward me, a smile on his face as he glanced around.

"Congratulations, Vesper. Your exhibition is not over yet and it's already the talk of the town. I made a good decision partnering with you."

"Oh...well, thank you, Niklaus. I'm shocked myself. Also, thank you for taking the time to be here, even with the problem that came up at Luxe. I read about it in the news."

He grinned, but the smile didn't reach his eyes. "Yeah, it was really unfortunate, but the problem has been resolved and now we can move forward."

"I'm glad to hear that."

He leaned in. "You look really stunning tonight, Vesper, even more than the most precious stones on display. People can't seem to take their eyes off you."

I scratched at my neck, heat burning

VESPER GREY LYSAN POV My jaw went slack before I could stop it, his words ringing through my head."Stockholm syndrome," I repeated, the phrase tasting bitter on my tongue. Then I laughed—short and disbelieving. He'd said it so casually too. "You think I'm in love with my captor?"Niklaus tilted his head, the faintest smirk pulling at the corner of his mouth. "Am I wrong? You fell for the man who killed off all your boyfriends and isolated you until you had nowhere else to run. Doesn't that scream Stockholm syndrome?" He leaned in. "Zevran broke you, Vesper. He dragged you into blood and ruin, and you mistook it for love, when it was just obsession."My hand twitched with the urge to smack him in the face. I held back."You don't know anything about me, Sterling." My voice was steady despite the heat coiling in my gut. "And you don't know a thing about the love I feel for Zevran."He didn't back away. "You call it love, but I saw what it really was. It was dependence. You needed him

VESPER GREY LYSAN POV I stared at him, every second making my chest burn as the air between us thickened with so much rage and hate, I could taste it. Then I let my gaze flick toward Jenny, who hovered near the door, looking like she'd rather dissolve into the tiles than spend another second with us."You can leave," I said quietly."Oh..." Her eyes darted between us, uncertain, as if weighing whether I truly meant what I was saying or not. "Excuse me, then." She forced a smile as Niklaus glanced at her, hurried out of the office, and shut the door behind her.I stood up slowly, my eyes narrowing as I studied the face of the man standing in front of me. His smirk didn't move. He watched me, that same careless arrogance that he probably used to charm people who didn't know better glinting in his eyes. Then my hand snapped across his face. The sound cracked through the room like thunder. His head jerked to the side, hair falling over his forehead, his jaw tightening as the red print

VESPER GREY LYSAN POV SEVEN MONTHS LATER "Do you have any news for me?" I asked, tearing my gaze from the rain streaking down the floor-to-ceiling windows. "Were you finally able to get in touch with Camille?"Gabriel's shoulders stiffened. "I'm sorry, Miss Vesper, but every effort to meet with her has proven abortive.""Is that so? Well, what about..." I hesitated, my throat closing as the knot in my chest pulled tighter. "What about Zevran?"He shifted his weight. "I still don't know where he's been kept."My hands curled, the pulse in my ear thudding like a drum. "If you don't know anything," I looked up at him, "then what exactly am I paying you for?"He flinched. "I'm sorry—""I don't want an apology," I hissed, losing my temper. "I want results." I raked my fingers through my hair, my hands trembling with the effort to stay composed. "I was told you're the best out there, but it's been months, and you've given me nothing."He stood still, jaw tight, the flicker in his eyes tel

CYRAN KAELROS POV Someone was touching my hair. I kept my eyes closed, savoring the feelings because, for all I knew, it was just a figment of my imagination. But it felt so real. The knot in my chest tightened at every stroke, the feel of their fingers gliding through my hair and pulling softly at intervals easing the tension out of my rigid body. I never wanted it to stop."Cyran."I flinched, jerking awake. Then I looked up, my heart nearly beating out of my chest as they collided with those of Myra staring down at me.Was I dreaming again? But she looked so real."Myr... Myra?" I stuttered, the sound of my voice foreign in my ears."Yes. It's me" she said, tears filling her eyes as she traced my face. "You haven't eaten for days. You've barely moved in hours." The tears fell, hitting beneath my eyes. "Do you want to leave me too?"I blinked. She was still there. This wasn't a dream.I sat up too quickly, then groaned, my sides hurting from the sharp movement.I closed my eyes,

MYRA THORNE POV.It's been two days. Two days of worrying and having anxiety about whether the next update I would get on Zevran and Vesper would be a good one. I barely slept and anytime I managed to, I ended up having a nightmare.Visiting Vesper was out of the question. I really wanted to see her but I couldn't leave the island. Cyran would be alone, and leaving him with Asher after our last conversation was out of the question.I rubbed over my face, glanced at the frozen camera feed, and hit refresh.Cyran was curled up in the same position on his bed as he was last night. At a point, I worried that he wasn't breathing, but then he moved, turning on his side and giving me a full view of his face. I shouldn't have looked too hard at him, because now, every time I closed my eyes, the look of utter hopelessness etched on his face haunted me.Was he depressed? Was that why he wasn't eating his food?I stared at the untouched tray that Asher sent in the morning. It was his usual me

MYRA THORNE POV I pushed him off, my chest pounding as I stared at him."You're in love with me?""Why are you so shocked?... Did you think you were so unlovable that I wouldn't feel anything for you after spending so much time together?""How are you sure that what you're feeling is love and not lust. We've been stuck here for days, Asher. People start confusing things when they're trapped."He scoffed, the sound low and bitter. "And you think I haven't been taking care of my needs?" He leaned closer, his breath ghosting over my cheek. "No matter who I'm with, I can't seem to shake you off my mind, Myra."Was he going to kiss me? Every nerve in my body screamed to move, but my feet stayed planted in the same spot. What the hell was wrong with me?"It's not going to work," I managed, forcing the words out through the pressure in my throat. "I only love Cyran.""Are you sure about that?" He caught my chin before I could turn away, tilting my head back with a grip that was too steady,
