I could not tell how long I stayed in the bathroom, as I just allowed the water to slide down my head to the rest of my body. I wanted to douse the intense fire burning inside me, a fire that made me question the self-restraint I had developed in more than four years.

Actually, the moment I laid eyes on her in the hospital with my grandmother, in a simple jean and top, and yet still looking like she had been meticulously sculpted by heavenly carvers, I already knew.

I had not visited my grandmother because I knew she was there, as I had eyes inside the hospital.

I could see the intense emotions in her eyes whenever she looked at me, and I knew of her feelings. Initially, I thought she was just like other women, who were willing to throw themselves at me.

The way she interacted with my grandmother confirmed this conjecture of mine, and I tried as much as I could not to give her face and make her give up on the feelings I would never be able to reciprocate.
