CHAPTER 42

In the afternoon, everything is peaceful and quiet inside our house while I tap Giovanna's chubby legs to make her sleep. Giovanni is rushing to go outside, and I watch him disappear. My daughter and I are in the living room while Giovanni is inside his home office. 

My forehead creased when I saw some of his men enter the front yard. I can't leave my daughter inside her crib. My curiosity was killing me, but I didn't let it win because I feared my baby would wake up. I heard some sounds of trucks. 

Later, I saw the men carrying furniture and going inside our house. 

"What are these for?" I asked them. 

"These are for Giovanna, Ma'am," one of them answered. I look at Giovanni, who just went inside carrying a big box. 

I never saw Giovanni carry that box, not even the small one! I am surprised and, at the same time, amazed because I can see how he puts so much effort into becoming a father to our child.
