I look at my husband with boredom in my eyes as I watch my mother cry dramatically, she waits for us in our house as we arrive from the hospital because I got discharged today. My father just shrugs his shoulders because he can’t stop his wife.

“Mom, look at me, I am alive and kicking,” I told her but she just shook her head.

“No, you shouldn’t be poisoned in the first place,” she said. “What if something bad had happened? The poison got into your system that no antidotes can’t prevent?” she added and I took a deep breath.

“Mom, stop overthinking things. This won’t happen to me ever because Giovanni will taste it first before I eat it,” I said and my father laughed. “Dad, she’s serious and that’s my condition,” Giovanni said and my father just stared at him. “What’s gotten into your skull, man?” he asked.

“Just in love,” Giovanni responded and I almost puked because how can he act like that right now, we’re not in a romantic situation. “Anyway, enough with the drama. Did you look

  • The Mafia's Queen   CHAPTER 71

I ran to my parents' hospital room and I found them lying on the bed unconscious. They have a medical team checking up on them. "How are they, Doctor?" I asked the person in charge. She put down her stethoscope in my mother's bed. "They are fine now, Ma'am. They only need to recuperate," she answered. I was relieved. "How about Mr and Mrs Brickser? Where are they?" I asked her. "There's another door connecting to their room. They were fine as your parents, Ma'am. Probably, they were shocked by what happened," she said. "Thank you so much, Doctor," I told her, and she smiled. "You can trust me, Ma'am. I owe my life to your husband," she said, so I smiled at her. "Thalia, you need to rest," Blue said as I sat on the sofa. "It's been hard today," he added but I shook my head. "I can't sleep, I can't take a rest knowing my child is out there and she's in danger," I told him. Another tear runs down to my left cheek and I wipe it harshly. "This is the second time I saw y

My fingers are fidgeting nervously, I try to calm down, but I can't help it. We're inside Giovanni's office and his IT analysts are here. They were tracing the address of the sender and couldn't locate it. "Goddamn it!" I heard Giovanni curse as he kicked his table due to frustration. Another email was sent in my account, but this time it horrified me. A picture of our safe house where our family stays. Giovanni rushed over to the computer. "One wrong decision and they will be burned alive," he read the message from the sender. That broke me. I hate that I felt so helpless! Giovanni came to me and hugged me tightly. "They will be safe, I will dispatch the alpha team," he assured me but it didn't help. "I have to be there, please," I told him, and he shook his head. "You can't put yourself in danger, Thalia," he said and kissed my forehead. "I can't bear to lose another child, Giovanni. It would kill me, I have no will to live," I told him and he nodded. "They will be

Giovanni wore the cufflinks I bought for him yesterday, and I smiled because although they weren't from a signature brand, he carried them with the elegance of an expensive piece. We were in the middle of a meeting with the board members and directors, and I was serving as his executive assistant since Penelope was on leave. “Regardless of the profit we will receive from this new project, what other benefits could it bring us?” Giovanni asked the presenter. He was discussing the new project for the distillery company set to launch next year. “It's different from our signature product, Mr. Giovanni. The target market for this alcohol is women,” the presenter replied. Giovanni arched his right eyebrow and leaned forward with his hands on the table. “Isn't that cliché?” he questioned. No one dared to interrupt him. “It's not, Mr. Giovanni. Since we expanded our farm in Italy, we've developed new variants of grapes, and we will use them in our new product,” he confidently explai

The Stallion Corporation lost a major stockholder. Santi De Vries removed himself from the corporation. Those headlines that shook me, I thought it would take more than three weeks to make it happen but how come it happened in just a week? I looked at my husband who's just reading a document, we're at his office now, I came here to get the coffee he ordered online. "Giovanni, that fast?" I asked him and he smirked. "That's how a power talks, Thalia. What can I say, that's Santi," he said like it's just a normal thing. He is wearing his reading glasses, and it makes him look ten times hotter. He rolled his long sleeves up to his elbows and stood up. "Santi is a dangerous businessman, he doesn't mind leaving your partnership once he notices that your business will crumble soon," he said and drank his coffee. "Just like you," I told him and he arched his right eyebrow. "Really?" he asked with amusement, so I rolled my eyes at him. "Never mind," I told him, and I was about to leave

Scarlet and I went outside the office, letting the man discuss their deals. I couldn't keep my eyes off her because I was seeing the woman, in the flesh, my rival in Giovanni's heart whom I presumed dead. "Let's take a moment on the balcony," I invited her politely. She smiled with elegance and walked towards that direction. I admire her beauty, and she's older than me. However, she still looks young. The wind is blowing so the leaves from the trees are dancing freely. "I didn't know this place existed before," she said and roamed her eyes around the place; I chuckled, "Giovanni is a secretive person," I commented, and she nodded with a contented smile on her face. "Thalia, I want to apologise for everything that happened in the past," she said, and I froze on the spot because I didn't expect her to talk about it. "I appreciate you for opening the topic, Scarlet, because I don't know where to start," I told her honestly, and she smiled. "Thalia, if I became brave enough

I was reviewing some documents that my assistant sent me when I received a message from Giovanni. I am currently in our office. I lost track of my company for the past few weeks, and I am afraid that it will crumble, but good thing my brother runs it for a while. I closed my laptop and fixed the papers on my desk. I stomped my feet on the floor because Giovanni was asking for my presence in his meeting! As if I'll contribute to something! "Wife, let's go," Giovanni said, and I was startled because I didn't realize he was behind me and held my waist. "Giovanni!" I said. He chuckled as he put his chin on my shoulder and kissed my neck. "Is that too important that it requires my presence?" I asked him and he nodded. "Yes, wife," he said. "Well, what can I do?" I stated. I stepped backwards when I realized who we were going to meet, we were in the meeting room, and they were here; Scarlet smiled when she saw me. I force myself to smile because I don't want her to think I'm
