Jasper

Emery hadn’t left my mind since the day in the hospital. She had looked so broken .. and when she accused me of having another woman.. it looked like it ripped her heart out. I didn’t even deny it I just stood there … shocked.

And I hated it.

I know I had hurt her .. in more ways than one. And I didn’t like to be the cause of her pain. I remembered the box I kept upstairs in the back of my closet. It had a lot of different things in it that I’d collected over the years .. but it also housed several gifts Emery had given me.

Most of them were very heartfelt gifts that she had put a lot of time into. I’d barely even ever looked at them or taken them out of their bags. One thing she had made me was a picture of us together.. she’d gotten it enlarged and put in a frame. Another gift had been a name plate for my desk. She’d gotten the tools and engraved it herself. And I’d left it up there in that box all these years.

Another year for my birthday she’d attempted to knit me a

  • The Mafia’s Regret   Chapter 146

EmeryThe plan was underway. I hoped this worked. Because I have now decided I never want to do this again. I hadn’t even thought about it during my wedding. I wanted to give myself wonderful amazing memories. So I’d put it out of my mind completely. I pretended that it was a normal night full of festivities. And that I wasn’t offering myself up on a silver platter at the end of it. We still hadn’t told anyone else. The only people that knew were the eight of us and Vincent. We hadn’t told Martha or Frank or Norman. We even had to lie to poor Aimee and Joanne. We told them we were playing an elaborate joke on Oliver and Frankie. It wasn’t too far fetched. We would do something like that. But we had to make them swear on their lives they wouldn’t tell a soul. Not one single person. That’s why we waited until right before the announcement to even tell them the lie. Now Layla’s job is to keep them occupied for a while why we did this. She took them home to her house. I hope they d

  • The Mafia’s Regret   Chapter 145

Vivian As much as I dreaded coming here tonight.. and I did dread it. I mean these people all hated me. And who could blame them? This was totally out of my comfort zone. I had talked Adam into coming with me last minute. Elijah didn’t like that much but I felt like a loser coming by myself. But I got it. Adam was in Jasper's gang. Albeit barely anymore. Since he wasn’t necessarily driving me around and being my bodyguard now he’d gone back to his old job he did before. He was a chef at one of the really nice restaurants in the city. The nice thing about that was it wasn’t gang owned. He made really good money and he was very sought after. I felt like he was maybe trying to slowly remove himself from the Marchetti’s. And now.. I’d be happy if he could. No one here talked to me. No one knew who I was .. thank goodness… except for the people in the wedding. And I had successfully avoided them since I’d talked to Elijah earlier. But I had to admit .. the wedding was really beautif

  • The Mafia’s Regret   Chapter 144

ElijahEmery opened her small piece of paper that she’d written her vows on and looked at me.. grinning. I was glad to get mine out of the way. Not because I didn’t mean them.. or didn’t want to say all that to her, I did. But I also was nervous that she wouldn’t like them.. or wouldn’t understand the depth of my words. But I saw it in her eyes. And I knew. She cleared her throat. Then began to read. “Dear Elijah… it may come as a shock to you that I’m not sure what to write. I am quite the talker after all…” she said. Everyone sniggered at that comment. “It wasn’t because I didn’t have things to say… it’s because I have everything to say. There’s so many things I want to tell you .. but I could never fit them on a piece of paper. So here is my promise. I promise to tell you everyday what you mean to me.. how much you mean to me .. and how much I love you. It will take from now… until the rest of our lives for me to be able to say it all. But we have the rest of our lives for m

  • The Mafia’s Regret   Chapter 143

Emery I couldn’t believe Elijah had asked Vivian to come to my wedding. Hell I should’ve just called up Jasper and asked him to come too. We could make it a whole family reunion up in here. I stomped back upstairs to my room and straight to the window, lighting a cigarette and smoking it. “Did you find him?” Layla asked. “Yup..” I said. I had gone down to see where Elijah had gone. But I got more than I bargained for. Bridge was next to me then looking at me worriedly. “What happened?” She asked. I told her and she frowned. “Why would he invite her?” She said. I looked behind me at the others .. making sure no one heard. Then I got out my phone and typed the message for her to read. ‘She knows his voice.’Bridges eyebrows shot up and she nodded in understanding. I mean I got it. Elijah would do any and everything under the sun and moon to protect me. And this was his reasoning. He wanted a leg up.. or a contention plan. A backup in case the plan didn’t work .. or a head st

  • The Mafia’s Regret   Chapter 142

Elijah Seeing Emery in her wedding dress for the first time just about blew me away. I’d never ever in my life seen anything so breathtakingly beautiful. She looked like some sort of fairy snow princess. And I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t take my eyes off her. Every single person here had their eyes glued to her. We’d done things backwards… deciding to take pictures first. Well I don’t know if it’s backwards or not. Can’t say that I’ve been to tons of weddings. Anyway. She made we wait on her downstairs in the living room by myself. Her friend Aimee and I the only two there.. and she was only there to grab pictures. Emery looked every bit the princess walking down the stairs in her dress. She was floating. And I couldn’t breathe. Then I turned into the worlds biggest pussy and cried. But I didn’t care. I watched our entire lives together as she made her way towards me. From the time we were small kids, playing outside in the dirt .. starting school together. When me and the b

  • The Mafia’s Regret   Chapter 141

EmeryThe day had arrived. It was the day I would leave one life behind .. and step into a new one. The day I would stand with Elijah, and our two souls became one. The day I got to marry my best friend .. the boy that I had loved and adored and wanted to protect since childhood. Even though he ended up being the protector of me. Today I became Emery Stone. I had assumed I’d be nervous today. The wedding .. obviously … but more so the plan.. was looming over my head. But instead I felt an almost eerie calm. It settled over me like a blanket from the moment I had woken up. I didn’t know what it was or how or why. But shit I would take it. I wasn’t going to question it or think about it too much, just in case it decided to disappear. Bridge had gone out and gotten me coffee and muffins for breakfast. After we ate the girls and I decided to do our hair and makeup here, at home. And once we’d finished that we headed over to Vincent’s. Leon was at my door waiting when I opened it.
