He wasn’t here for mere pleasantries; he had his reasons. Watching Damian squirm, for one, was high on the list, but this Aurora girl—she intrigued him. She wasn’t just a random girl plucked from obscurity. Damian’s uncharacteristic protectiveness meant she was important, but why? That was a question worth answering.

Raphael’s thoughts were interrupted when he heard hushed voices from one of the sitting rooms. He paused just outside the open door, leaning casually against the frame, listening in.

“...and you think she can be trusted?” a deep voice asked. It was Damian, his tone sharp and edged with frustration.

“I don’t know,” came the reply, softer and hesitant. Raphael couldn’t place the speaker, but it was a woman. “She seems genuine, but there’s something... off. I can’t put my finger on it.”

Damian exhaled heavily. “I can’t afford ‘off.’ Not now. If she’s a liability—”

“She’s not a liability!” the woman interrupted, her voice firm now. “She’s just... scared. And she’s young. Give

  • The Mafia's mistress (His temptation)    The price of betrayal

The hallways of the mansion were quiet, too quiet, as the maid hurried down them, her steps echoing through the empty space. Her heart pounded in her chest, and fear gripped her throat. She had done what she was told, but now, now everything felt wrong. She could still hear Aurora’s voice, demanding answers. Who sent you?The maid had been too scared to lie. She had been too scared to refuse. She had been too scared to think about what would happen when Aurora learned the truth. She knew Lily would not be happy. No, Lily would be furious. What have I done? She reached the door to Lily’s chambers and hesitated before knocking. She took a deep breath, wiped the sweat off her palms, and knocked three times, each tap seeming louder than the last.“Enter,” came Lily’s cold voice from within. The maid slowly pushed the door open and stepped inside. Lily was sitting at her vanity, brushing her hair, her face carefully blank. But when she saw the maid, her eyes narrowed, a flicker of suspicio

  • The Mafia's mistress (His temptation)    The poisoned tea

The night was heavy with silence, save for the distant sounds of the mansion settling. Aurora lay on her bed, eyes staring at the ceiling, lost in thought. She could feel the tension in the air, the same way one could sense a storm brewing in the distance. Ever since she had arrived in the mansion, there was always an undercurrent of danger. But tonight, it felt different more suffocating. Her thoughts drifted to Lily. The former mistress of Damian, now a shadow in the halls. Ever since Aurora had taken her place, Lily had been bitter, her resentment simmering beneath every interaction. Aurora had tried to keep her distance, but it was impossible to avoid the woman entirely. She could feel Lily’s eyes on her, always watching, always waiting for a moment to strike.Aurora knew that Lily would never let her position go without a fight. But what could she do? Damian was hers now, not Lily’s.The knock on her door startled her out of her thoughts. It was soft at first, but it quickly grew

  • The Mafia's mistress (His temptation)    The cold reception

The sun had barely begun to set, casting a warm orange glow across the mansion’s garden. The large windows let in just enough light to make the room feel alive, but not too much to make it unbearable. It was a peaceful, almost serene atmosphere that Raphael had grown accustomed to. He liked the quiet moments before everything turned messy. He glanced around the hallway, checking to see if anyone was nearby. His feet moved silently over the polished floor as he made his way toward the small sitting room where he knew Aurora would be. He had seen her earlier, moving quickly through the halls, her green eyes hidden behind a veil of confusion and caution. She was still getting used to her new life, and it was obvious that the girl had been through too much to trust anyone, let alone someone like him.But that didn’t bother Raphael. He had a way of getting people to see things his way. If not with words, then with charm, and if that didn’t work, he had other methods. He stopped just outsid

  • The Mafia's mistress (His temptation)    Raphael meets Lily

The path back to the manor was quiet, save for the crunch of gravel under Raphael’s boots. The sunlight filtering through the trees gave the illusion of peace, but his mind was anything but settled. His brother’s reaction earlier amused him, though it also left a bitter taste in his mouth. Damian’s protectiveness over the girl—Aurora, was it? How interesting. As he walked toward the side entrance, Raphael’s sharp eyes caught sight of someone by the fountain near the garden’s edge. A woman sat there, her posture stiff, her gaze fixed on the rippling water. Even from a distance, he recognized her. Lily.He stopped, a sly grin spreading across his face. It had been a long time since he’d seen her, but she hadn’t changed much. Her beauty was still striking, though there was a weariness in her eyes now, a shadow that hadn’t been there before. He remembered her vividly, not just as a presence in the palace but as someone who once held a far more coveted position.Quietly, he approached, his

  • The Mafia's mistress (His temptation)    The Golden child

Aurora followed Damian out of the room, her steps light as she kept close to him. She didn’t want to draw attention to herself. Damian’s presence was commanding, and walking beside him, she felt like a shadow in his overwhelming light. The grand hallway stretched ahead, its high ceilings adorned with intricate designs and gilded chandeliers. The soft carpet underfoot muffled their steps, but Aurora’s heart was loud in her chest.Damian walked with purpose, his posture straight and unyielding. Aurora couldn’t help but glance at him from the corner of her eye. His face was calm, but she knew there was always something simmering beneath the surface. He was a man who controlled everything, and she doubted anything escaped his notice. As they approached the large double doors leading to the gardens, Aurora caught sight of someone standing nearby. A man, tall and strikingly handsome, leaned casually against the doorway. He had the same dark hair as Damian, but his features were softer, more
