Lillian’s POV:

I stood in front of Jessie’s apartment door and pressed the doorbell. My chest felt tight, and my stomach growled. Coming here was supposed to calm me, but I still felt nervous as if Alex were here with me.

I rang the doorbell again, and the door opened instantly.

“Lillian!” Justin said, his face lighting up.

Before I could say anything, he wrapped his arms around me in a tight hug. I laughed softly.

“Hey, Justin,” I said, hugging him back. “I missed you so much.”

  • The Mafia’s possession   Chapter 63

The car pulled through the gates at just past nine in the evening. Sam was standing beside the entrance when they came in. He noticed Alex and Lillian and how happy they were. They conversed and chuckled while walking into the house. He went on his day reading the report, checking the security camera and walking in the fields. After that day, Alex knocked before entering Lillian’s room. He had never knocked before, but now he did and waited. She noticed the first time it happened, and it kept happening. She started leaving iced coffee outside his study door. She didn't know when she started tracking his schedules. Some nights he works till past 3 AM; she simply stays awake to make iced coffee for him. The first time she did it, she heard him open the door after a few seconds and the door close again. He never mentioned it, and she never did either. Sam and Marcus noticed the coffee, the knock on the door and the way they comfortably conversed at the dining table. Rico noticed

The sound came at 2am.Lillian was already in that shallow, restless kind of sleep that came from being in the woods. So when she heard the sound again from outside the cabin, she sat upright and stayed still. She listened quietly. Something moved in the trees beyond the window. She heard rustling sounds and her heart slammed hard. She pressed her hand flat against her chest and told herself not to think about it. She was not in the city. There were no enemies here. He said this place was safe but fear gripped her. The sound faded into the trees. It was just an animal. She exhaled slowly and sat in the dark with her heart still going too fast, staring at the window where the faint blue light of very early morning was just barely beginning to separate the sky from the tree line. Then the door opened. Alex appeared in the doorway wearing a black T- shirt and sweatpants, his hair was slightly disorganised from sleep. "I heard you," he said. She blinked. "I didn't make any noise.""

Lillian stared at the bag on her bed. The kind that Alex’s staff usually packed for her before a flight. Thin dresses, heels that cost more than three months of her old rent, and expensive jewellery. Alex had knocked on her door twenty minutes ago; he leaned against the doorway with his hands in his pockets. “Pack for two nights,” and that was it. There was no briefing or dress code. She waited, hoping to hear the rest, but he didn't say anything. So she stood at her wardrobe trying to figure out what to pack when instructions weren't given. She pulled out a pair of jeans, a sweater and flat shoes and paired them with the dresses and heels. He was already in the car when she came downstairs. No convoy. No SUVs lined up in the driveway. No men in suits with earpieces scattered everywhere. It was just one car, and he was in the driver's seat.Lillian stopped. "Where's Marcus?" she asked."He's not coming.""Where's the security team?""Not coming."She looked at the car. Then at hi

Lillian got up early and dressed in a pair of blue gym wear and a pair of black sneakers. She headed downstairs for her morning training. Those morning training sessions she used to do so much now became a part of her lifestyle. Rick was already in the courtyard when she came down. She knew who he was. He was one of Alex’s bodyguards. Always quiet and calm. He was in his late thirties, with broad shoulders and a scar along his left jawline. He was wrapping his hands when she walked in.He glanced at her once and then returned to his wrapping.Marcus was standing by the far wall with his arms crossed. He looked at her when she entered and said, "Today you're with Rico."She looked at Rico."Alright," she said. She wrapped her own hands – she was faster now – rolled her shoulders twice, and moved to the centre of the mat. Rico finished his wraps and joined her. He stood across from her, and his expression was entirely professional, which somehow made it worse."Don't hold back," Mar

Lillian was up before seven. The mansion was quiet at that hour. The kitchen and the corridor were still. She made her own coffee standing at the counter in the bright morning light and thought about Jessie’s laugh on the phone yesterday and Justin’s voice cracking when he said her name. She hurried with her coffee and strode into her bathroom to freshen up. She showed up at the penthouse where Jessie and Justin stayed. Alex's bodyguard was with her. She buzzed from the door, heard the intercom crackle, and then Jessie answered, still half-asleep. “Get up, Jessie, and come open the door. Jessie opened up, standing in the doorway in an oversized sweatshirt and mismatched socks. She looked at her for half a second and then pulled her in. They wrapped their arms around each other. "I'm sorry," Jessie said into her shoulder. "I was horrible to you. I was scared, and I took it out on you, and I'm sorry.""No, don't say that. You weren't horrible.""I was cold. Which from me is basic

Lillian didn't move her hands, and Alex didn't move at all. The gym was warm and quiet, and Lillian’s hands were still on Alex’s chest. She was looking at his hand because looking at his face was something she had decided she couldn't do. He turned his hand over slowly until his palms were against hers and his fingers closed around her hand. Then he used his other hand to hold her chin and pull her towards him. Their eyes met. He closed the distance between them without urgency. He leaned in and pressed his lips against hers. She felt the warmth of his body and didn't pull away. She kissed him back with both hands on his chest, and the bag swung gently on its chain behind them. They stayed in the gym for a long time. They stayed in the gym for a long time. Not always kissing. Lillian had her back against the wall, and Alex sat beside her. “I became used to the gym at night because my father always thought that would make me stronger.” Alex chuckled. Lillian smiled. “Well, that

No Mercy LeftIt was midnight in the mansion. They no longer stayed at the hotel. Alex had ordered everyone to his mansion in Paris. A private mansion far from a residential area. The underground basement was dark and silent. The walls were cold, and the lights were dim. There was a strong smell o

Her breath hitched. He said it like a compliment, like something he was proud of.And somehow, that made it worse and better at the same time.“They’ll underestimate you, thinking you're soft,” he continued. “Good. Use it.”Lillian looked at him. This man trained her like she was a soldier. Who dre

Lillian stepped out, her beige trench coat dancing behind her. The sun reflected over the sleek jet waiting before her. The kind of sight that felt like a big dream. Just a few months ago, she was pleading for mercy from Alexander, fighting back tears and exhaustion. Now she was boarding his priva
