Unknown POV

They argued like a goddamn couple. I can't let him have her. She's mine and I will protect her from him. Even if I have to take her where no one else can find her.

I know that they found out about Melody's past and Tom. I knew she didn't want anyone else to know about him. And especially the things he put her through. They were going to find out about it over time. I might as well give them a little...push.

Back then I kept telling myself it was fine. Tom was only trying to make her stronger. Now that he's gone I see how strong he truly made her. But the cost was far too great. But I'll be the one to fix her.

But the real question is where is that abusive ex-boyfriend of hers now isn't it? Well let me tell you, he's six feet underground. I put him in that body bag, I killed him in that car accident. I didn't know that Melody was in the car. Luckily she doesn't remember anything about the crash. I can't let her know who I am. Well, at least not yet. And once I have her...I'll never let her go. Once I set everything into motion, we'll be ready to go. I need it to be a perfect time. I don't care what it takes Melody will be mine...forever.

-----

Reading through these papers about her past and what Tom did to her is infuriating. The files said that he would throw bottles at her when he was drunk and would burn her with cigarettes. And rarely would hit her with his leather belt. It said that he'd cut her all over her body if she did anything bad or something he didn't like her doing. And that he hurt her all the time. He'd cut her in places where no one could see the cuts and bruises he gave her. It also says that he sexually abused her and would harass her all the time even at work. He would also hit her if she didn't do as he asked. Looking through the files showed some of the scars she had on her body.

Why stay with such a guy?

He seems like a dreadful person and I'm just reading this on paper.

I can't read any more of this. I shoved the files into my safe that I had hidden in my wall near the bookshelf I had behind my desk.

I walked down to the tech room and told Wilson to turn the camera off in Melody's room till I came back. But, it's already disconnected. Once those words left his mouth I scoffed at that and left.

Once I was standing outside her door I unlocked it and walked in. My hand is shaking for what I'm going to ask her. Ask what Tom did to her. I'm terrified to ask her more about this.

I heard the shower running and, waited on the bed until she came out.

About ten or so minutes later she walked out and was in some PJs I had picked out for her. Her eyes seemed a tad bit red and puffy. Had she been crying in the shower? No that's not it, she was just in the shower it was probably from that. Hopefully that's what it is.

She also seemed annoyed at me. But to be fair, who isn't annoyed with me right now?

When I looked at her I could see the bruises I'd given her and some scars that Tom gave her. Now that I think about it, am I that different from Tom?

Yes, I am.

How so? No clue. This seems like a to be determined situation.

"What do you want Liam?" She groaned.

-----

After getting out of the shower I quickly got in the clothes I picked out. After I was done getting ready I walked out and there Liam was sitting on my new bed.

"What do you want Liam?" I groaned.

"Come sit down," Liam said, patting his hand on the bed.

"I'm not a dog you know," I stated folding my arms in front of my chest.

"Come sit down or I will make you sit down," Liam warned me.

I know he's not bluffing. I'm not going to take orders from an arrogant guy. Who does think he is? A mafia dude? Wait he is but, he still can't take whatever he wants whenever he wants. That's not how things work. In order to get things, you need to work for it.

He stood up and took one step in my direction before I slowly walked over to him. He sat back down and patted again for me to sit next to him. So I did the complete opposite. I sat on the edge of the bed, on the opposite side. I'm not even looking at him, I'm such a child.

"What do you want Liam?" I once again asked, looking out the window.

"I came here to ask you something."

I still kept my head towards the window.

I can feel his eyes staring at me. And just out of habit I turned to see way too many emotions on his face. Anger; guilt; sadness; and technically this one isn't an emotion but he seemed like he wanted to protect me.

I already know what he wants. He wants to talk about him. About what that pig did to me.

About Tom.

This all surrounded Tom. Liam doesn't care for me. Why would he? All I am is a pawn. Once I've served my purpose, my life is in his hands.

"I'm not telling you anything about Tom."

"Why not?" Liam asked, very annoyed with my response.

"I don't want to talk about it," I mumbled looking away from his gaze, and started fiddling with my fingers. Images of those long days as we spent most of our time together. He was about two years older than me. He would be twenty-one right now. I thought he loved me, even when he was hurting me I thought he loved me.

"You're going to tell me what I need to know Melody," Liam stated.

I stood up and turned towards him, "I'm not going to tell you squat! I don't have to tell you anything about him!" I yelled.

He mimicked my movement by standing up. He was already facing me so he didn't have to turn toward me.

"Why are you hiding things about him!" Liam shouted back, "Are you trying to defend him or something?" Liam quickly asked.

I walked over to Liam with fury running in my veins, I stood inches from him at this point.

"I am not defending Tom!" I yelled again.

"Then why can't you tell me what he did to you?" Liam

asked. Taking a few steps away from me.

"Because I don't have to tell you anything!"

Liam crossed his arms, "Why not?" He asked.

I scoffed at him, "I hope you're kidding."

"I'm not."

"Why would I tell you anything? You kidnapped me and then killed Mack right in front of me. Then you threatened my parents that if they tried anything to rescue me you'd kill me or that they would never see me again! And when I ran off you threatened my best friend's life! So that answers your stupid question about why I'm not telling you anything about my past!"

"You're right I did all those things to you but, all I'm trying to do is protect you!

"Hey mom, hey dad." I greeted walking into the kitchen."Hey sweetie, I made your favorite." My mom said putting a scrambled egg with two chocolate chip pancakes with it. And even put the best thing with it.Hash Browns. You can't go wrong with Hash Browns. "Have you seen dad, mom?" I asked glancing around the kitchen."He had some work he needed to do first.""What's up, Mrs. Fawson!" Thea shouted, barging into the house. That girl has no personal space."Hi, Thea." My mom slightly groaned. She's not a big fan of Thea. My father doesn't like her either which isn't surprising. Thea's got one of those personalities that is a tad harder to handle. Nonetheless, she's my best friend. She's the only reason why I go to school. As I finished my breakfast I noticed how fancy my mom looked. She was in one of her nicer outfits."Where are you going, mom?" I asked grabbing my backpack."Oh, I and your father are meeting with some friends. We're discussing a business opportunity today.""Oh with

I woke up, doing my morning routine. As I saw myself in the mirror. Dark circles started forming underneath my eyes. I looked exhausted and looked like I was about to kill someone. The second I thought that I decided I needed to blow some steam off. And when I mean blow steam off, I'm going to the gym. After I started my workout, I didn't stop until my hands were bleeding badly and started to bruise. I jumped in the shower that was near the gym and stayed in there for who knows how long. Once I jumped out, I put on new clothes that I'd brought with me. I then grabbed the first aid kit that was stashed away in case of blood and bruises. Which I have.I walked out of the gym and headed towards the tech room and saw something...unexpected.Wilson and Emily making out. They didn't seem to notice me, so I cleared my throat. They both looked at me and they both pushed away from each other. "Look, sir..." Wilson started before I cut him off."You can do whatever you want. Both of you are

Charlie! I felt relieved that he was okay. I hope his arms are okay, though. "Well, I was hoping you'd be out for a while longer," Payton admitted.I heard a slight chuckle from Charlie, "I was never out. Nick sucks at knocking people out.""I will shoot him." Payton threatened."You even try pulling the trigger, you will be dead before you blink an eye." Charlie threatened back. I got pulled back a bit by Nick, further away from Payton and Charlie."What are you..." I started but got cut off when Nick's hand covered my mouth."If you want anyone you care about to survive, you're going to do exactly what I say..." Nick whispered. He leaned directly next to my ear, his hot breath on my ear and a little on my neck, "I know Mack is on the driver's side of the van..."Mack? What's he doing here?"He's betrayed us one too many times for my taste. Here's what you're going to do. You're going to distract him while I knock him out. If you don't help me, I'll kill Mack first. Possibly kill

My heart started to beat so fast that my heart was going to jump out. I don't know how I'm supposed to be taking all of this. Am I supposed to say, 'Do what he wants' or, 'Don't listen to him! He's going to kill me and you, regardless of what you do.' This is why I don't develop feelings for people anymore. I've had my heart repeatedly broken, and I don't know how much more heartbreak I can take. "What's it going to be, Mr. King, helping me or fight for love? Especially when you know, regardless of what, I'll get what I want either way."Liam looked at me directly in the eyes, with what I saw in his eyes was they were dark and clouded. His face completely calm and showed no emotion. He didn't seem to have any sign that he cared what could happen next. That Liam didn't mean it when he said I love you.And that last thought terrified me to my core. I'm not ready to die! I'm 21! "Follow me." Liam grumbled. He quickly turned around towards the door and just walked out. Nick went out,

My father was holding my girl away from me...my girl! I don't care if he's family, she's family...she's my home.Home.I looked at Melody and her eyes were all red and a tad bit puffy. She seemed to have calmed down a bit, which is good. I don't need her doing something ridiculous that's going to possibly get her hurt or killed. I don't know what I'd do if she was hurt even more by them. And if she died right here, I know I'll never be the same again. I eyed Payton closely, just as Charlie had been doing. I could see it in his eyes, the way he watched each step Payton took and where Payton's eyes were at. Unfortunately, they were either at me or Melody. "Charlie, have a seat...please." Payton ordered, a smirk forming on his face.I looked at Charlie from the corner of my eye and saw all the color from his face immediately drain. We both knew what could happen to us if we didn't listen to Payton, but the thing that scared me the most was what he could do to Melody.Charlie considere
