Scott POV
I glance out the window and look towards the road. Once again, I drop my shoulders and sigh. They aren’t here yet.
I turn and pace back and forth again.
This is torture. I know that my mate is coming, and he will be here any minute. However, I don’t know if my mate knows that he is mated to a male omega. A small bit of me worries about whether he will accept me or reject me.
I know Kane keeps telling me that my mate will love me, but after having a family that is only concerned about ‘keeping the family tradition’ alive versus whether I’ll actually find my true mate or be happy, I can’t help but to be afraid and worried.
I stop and glance out the window again. I sigh, as there is still no sign of Gus.
When is he going to get here?
As I turn back to continue my pacing, Kane steps up and stands right in front of me.
I stand up on the small stage at the front of the training field and watch the group of trainees. They have come along nicely and in such a short time. I wish everyone would learn as fast as this group. Well, this group has some powerful motivation. Almost from the beginning, they have been made aware of the upcoming war, and they have all vowed to do everything that they can to keep the war from going too far.I glance next to me and smile as I stare at Don.My mate has been such a big help. Not only did he help train this group of trainees, but he has trained the entire pack in martial arts. Granted, the pack hasn’t had enough time to master it yet, but they have the basics down. Plus, it is for when they are in their human form, which is something new.As I smile and staring at my mate, he slowly turns his head. As soon as our eyes meet, a smile instantly appears on his face too.
Alpha Marcus POV While cutting my steak, I ask, “So, how did the talks go with SM Companies? Were they able to make any headway?” I don’t need to worry about people hearing what I’m saying, because I don’t eat with the pack at the pack house. When I first became alpha, I stopped eating there. I often have people over to my house to eat, like right now, or I go out and eat at restaurants. When I don’t get a response, I glance up and across the table at Caleb. He seems a little confused as he blankly stares at his glass of water on the table. I clear my throat. Cough. “I asked if they made any headway with the partnership with SM Companies?” Caleb suddenly comes out of his trance and looks over at me. “Oh, sorry Alpha Marcus. Yes, we did. However, they aren’t ready to sign a contract yet. They have this silly little thing where they have to
Ben POV I would like to sit back and enjoy getting to know Sammy and Zee more, but I can’t. I still have two more pieces to find. However, I don’t have their ability to use and try to find them. Instead, the Supreme Elder just told me they are stuck to each other. What does that even mean? Are they actually stuck to each other like conjoined twins or something? Ugh.. This is hard. I kind of stumbled into finding the last two, but this is going to be hard. Ford slides next to me on the couch and puts his arm around my shoulder. “Baby. Don’t stress about it. Okay. If the moon goddess wants us to find them, then we will. If not, then no matter what we try, we won’t be able to find them.” I turn and look at my mate. “I can’t help but to stress. You know exactly what is riding on this. How can I not stress about it, when the fate of the wh
Former Alpha Seth POV “Sir, there is someone here to see you. He says that it is important.” I look up from my desk at my assistant standing in the doorway. Confused, I ask, “Do I have an appointment that I don’t remember?” My assistant shakes her head. “No, sir, but he insists it is important.” I raise an eyebrow. “Okay. Show him in.” I quickly scoop the confidential reports and documents off my desk and put them in my drawer. Just as I’m closing the drawer, Mike rushes into my office. Why is he here? Before I could even ask him a question, he bursts out, “We have a problem.” I slowly shake my head as I motion for him to have a seat in a chair near my desk. “Sit down first and take a breath. I think your head is going to explode if you don’t stop for a moment.” Mike quickly takes a seat right in front of my desk. However, he doesn’t c
Alpha Marcus POV “Where is my son! He never goes out anywhere without telling me first!” What is happening lately? I swear something is not working in my favor lately. Not only have I lost a couple alliances with packs that I thought I had gotten at the werewolf gathering, but something has happened between the time of the gathering to now. Even when I threaten them more, they aren’t budging. Now, my son hasn’t been home for several days. What is going on? With a growing anger, I glare at Caleb. However, for some reason, he doesn’t seem to be affected like usual. No. If anything, he almost seems happy, but why. Caleb tries to keep the corner of his lip to curve upwards as he replies, “I’m not sure. He just seemed to disappear, but he never said anything to me.” BAM! I slam my hand on the top of my desk. How dare he say that he doesn’t know.
Ben POV I slowly drag my feet as I make my way to the dining hall. Usually, mealtime is one of my favorite times, but not anymore. Nothing can seem to make me happy. Well, one thing still does, but I can’t stay in bed all the time and make love to my mate. I sigh as I turn and walk into the dining hall. The chatter and noise fill my ears, but I don’t hear it. My mind is still on my inability to find the last two pieces that we need for this war. I can’t keep failing. Everyone else has done their jobs, but I can’t seem to do this one minor task. Don has not only been helping train the pack on martial arts, but he is working with Wyatt’s father, Seth, and my mother to get things setup with King Enterprises. The three of them have been able to accomplish a lot in a very short time frame. They were even celebrating the first downfall of one company that is associated with a pack
I sit on the edge of the bed next to Kane. He has been so tired lately. If things don’t change soon, I’m going to have to have the pack doctor look at him. He keeps telling me it is because he used too much energy trying to heal Tyler, but I was right there, too. I’m not nearly as tired as he is.I look down at my mate sleeping peacefully. He is so beautiful.A smile slowly spreads across my face as I gently brush his bangs out of his eyes and across his forehead. It is time to get up, but I can’t bring myself to wake him.As I lean forward and kiss his forehead, I softly whisper, “Sleep, my baby. I hope you feel better soon.”I sit upright and continue to stare at Kane’s sleeping face. After a few moments, I get up and walk out of the bedroom. As I walk through the living room, I call out, “Finn. Tommy. Keep an eye on Kane f
Mike POVI can’t stop pacing back and forth in my hotel room. I have been here for several days, but I still don’t feel at ease. My father is out there somewhere. All it takes in one wrong move and bam. I’ll back in my pack with my father breathing down my throat again.I’m not going back while he is there.I know that Former Alpha Seth told me I’m safe here, but I just don’t feel like it.As I turn to go back the other direction, my eyes linger on the curtains. I really want to say forget it and just open the curtains, but I know that my father’s men and allies could see me then. So, I’m going to just leave the curtains shut and leave myself practically caged in my hotel room.I hope Former Alpha Seth and High Elder Rose can think of something that would help break my bond with Bambi. While still bonded, she can feel what I&
