...Haley POV...
It's been nearly a week since I last saw Damian. However, he continued to come by Jessica's place every day. He would come three times a day. Once before work, once at lunchtime, and once in the evening. He would drop off lunch for me every day. I was genuinely surprised by what I was witnessing. It was like a brand new Damian. He seemed to know he messed up and was desperate for my apology for whatever reason.
Every morning he would get me my favourite coffee from the cafe near our condo. He then would also surprise me with a delicious breakfast. Then, in the evening, he would give Jess presents for me. So far, he had given me flowers, chocolate, a teddy bear, and even a necklace. One evening he had even ordered me a pizza and had the word sorry written across it with M&M's just like in the princess diaries. I found his gesture rather cute. But that's all it was. A gesture. While his gestures were beautiful, it wasn't what I wanted. I
I was happy that Zach was gone when I left Damian's office. I wanted to talk to Damian without anyone judging me for doing so. I knew Zach probably wouldn't. But he would have his own thoughts about what we were going to talk about. I just didn't want to deal with any of that.I smiled as I saw Damian sitting in Zane's chair. Zane had gone back to Europe a while ago and probably wouldn't be back for at least a couple of months. So in the meantime, his office was free to use. However, I didn't want Damian to feel like he had to keep his distance from me. Rather, I would prefer to work together like we should've done from the start.Damian didn't seem to notice me at first as I watched him by the door. However, he must've noticed my presence somehow, as I saw him look up with a giant smile on his face. His smile was quickly replaced with a look of fear and apprehension."You didn't like the office, did you." Damian remarked timidly."Damian." I called out.
The next couple of weeks went by smoothly. Damian and I had gotten much closer. Now that our relationship had been fixed, the tension between us had been removed. I now saw Damian in a whole new light. After dropping my annoyance at him, I began to see how incredible he truly was. He was by far one of the most analytical thinks I had ever met. Whenever he was faced with a problem, he had already thought of at least three solutions to fix it. His mind was always on the go, working hard to make sure everything ran smoothly.I began to see why everyone wanted him to be the next CEO after Zane moved to Europe. Not only was Damian an incredible thinker, but he was also responsible for a large amount of their newer products. Zane had designed the original products that had made them famous. But since Stone Enterprises was established, Damian had mostly been the one responsible for the new tech. I could see the difference between the two brothers. Zane and Damian both had interests
...Damian POV...I was excited. I was finally getting closer to having Haley for myself. I had devoted my time to making her happy. Once she was happy with me, I stood a better chance to win her over. I had contacted Colton and asked him to pick up her coffee before picking her up. I found out that she wasn't a big fan of breakfast, so I decided not to continue getting it for her.I made sure that there was a new arrangement of flowers on her desk every day. I knew how much she loved flowers. I wanted to get her unique ones, staying away from the traditional roses, tulips, and carnations. I loved how they put a smile on her face each time she saw them as she walked into the office.I started hiding notes for her to find. Notes with small endearments inside. Such as 'I love your smile.' 'Your presence makes my day brighter.' I would smile each time I saw her blush after reading my notes. We had lunch together each day. As long as the weather was good, I wo
"Damian?" I gasped, not believing what I was seeing."Yes?" He replied smugly."Why are we heading towards a helicopter?""You sure do ask a lot of questions. I thought you said you wanted me to surprise you." Damian smirked. He spun me around then, letting my feet touch the ground. I couldn't help the smile that crossed my face from the rush. Once on the ground, I reached up onto my tiptoes and kissed him.Damian smiled into our kiss."Does that mean you like it?""Well, I can't say for certain. All you've done is show me a helicopter. Can't say I'm all that impressed." I said, shrugging my shoulders, faking boredom.Damian looked at me with an all-knowing expression. He smiled then grabbed my hand as we both ran towards the helicopter."I guess I better get on with the next part of this date then." He said, kissing my nose once more.I smiled as Damian helped me into the helicopter. It was truly amazing. I
The next few months went off without a hitch. Damian and I had grown much closer. I had learned that he fell into the technology sector because of his love of helicopters. He had always been drawn to aircraft. But when his brother founded Stone Enterprises, he decided to work for him instead. I liked that Damian was spending more time recently on what he loved. The design aspect of things. It didn't take long for the media to find out that we were dating. I knew it was one of the downsides of dating a Billionaire, but we never let it bother us. The good side was at least Scarlett stopped showing her face around the office. However, while others knew that Damian was taken, other girls seemed to see that as a challenge. The media were no help either, as they were constantly waiting to find Damian in a compromising position. So Damian had hired a bodyguard for both himself and me for that reason alone.Even though the Paparazzi were more interested in Damian messing
I started to look around, hoping to make it back out of the building. I was about to pull out my earbud to listen better when I heard Damian on the other end of the line."Don't hang up. Stay on the line. I'll be there as soon as I can.""Ok." I whispered, hoping no one would overhear me. I quickly spun around to head towards the entrance when I heard someone cock a gun from behind."Don't move. Or I'll shoot." A gruff man's voice said from behind me.I immediately stopped dead in my tracks. I could feel tears prick the side of my face. I raised my hands in a sign of surrender."Who are you?" The man called out."No one. If you let me go, I promise I won't tell anyone. I never even saw you." I whimpered. I knew Damian could hear me, but he remained silent. I was thankful, as the man behind didn't know I had someone on the phone. Since my hair was down, he couldn't see the earpod in my ear."Turn around." The man commanded."No.
...Damian POV...I couldn't believe what was happening right now. One moment, everything was ok. The next, everything seemed to go to complete hell. I felt like I was having an out-of-body experience right now. I was too stunned to realize what was really happening. The woman that had single-handedly changed my life was now being held at gunpoint. I desperately wanted to get her out of there, but I couldn't figure out how. I had hoped that by stalling, the police would have enough time to get there. So while I listened to what was going on, I texted Zach and Zane to let them know what was happening. I was stuck at a traffic light. However, traffic didn't seem to be moving.Zach informed me that he had contacted the police, and they should be there soon. I knew that was a lie because I've been trying to get there for twenty minutes now. Traffic was at a complete standstill.I nearly lost it when I heard them shoot her not once but three times. As if t
I was driving myself insane. After we got to the hospital, the doctors rushed her into surgery. I had to look away from her at one point. She had been shot four times. Once on her arm, one in her leg, in her shoulder, and another near her heart. It was the bullet near her heart we were all worried about. There was no exit wound, which meant the bullet was still inside her. Not only that but because of using the AED, there was a good chance the bullet may have shifted, causing her internal bleeding. The medical team had managed to revive her. However, she hadn't actually woken up yet. So I began to wonder if she ever would.I took the seat next to her in the ambulance and held her hand the entire time. I kissed the back of her hand, hoping she would come back to me.Now that she was in surgery, I felt like I was going to wear a hole in the floor outside the surgical room. I wasn't allowed in, not that I really wanted to. I would've just been in the way or passed out fro
