CALLIE

All I could hear is gunshots and Mateo's voice telling me to get down. He started shooting through the window, and when I got up, I saw a man on the floor with blood all over his body. I screamed. I couldn't and didn't understand what exactly was happening. I was tempted to exit the car, and run to the man to help him. Doctor instincts.

"COME WITH ME!" Mateo yelled and grabbed my arm, and ran to the door.

We entered the warehouse from the back door without anyone noticing. Mateo opened the door and looked at me. He took my left hand with his right one, and entered the warehouse. We walked into a room and there was Samuel aggressively hitting someone to death. The scene I saw before was nothing compared to what I was saying.

"I SAID WHO SENT YOU!" Samuel yelled while hitting the man again. I was pretty shocked. I didn't think Samuel had it in him.

"What is happening?" Mateo growled.

"They attacked us. I still don't know who, but I will find out. What happened to the ones outside?" Samuel asked worriedly, as he frantically looked through the windows.

"I killed the ones I saw. I am not sure if there are more. We ran to the back door." Mateo explained, a gun in his hand, ready to shoot anyone who comes into the door.

"Stay here Callie, with Samuel. I will go and see if there is anyone left." Mateo ordered me and left the room in a blink of an eye before I could stop him. Why did I want to stop him?

To say that I am not worried about him would a lie. I was so worried. I wanted to stop him from going alone, but I didn't. After 5 minutes I heard a gun shot. My heart clenched and suddenly I didn't feel okay. I felt like fainting, and the thoughts that swarmed around my brain about Matteo, and what that one bullet could have done.

What if he was shot?

"Don't worry, he is not hurt." Samuel startled me with a smirk, as if he read my thoughts. He stopped hitting the guy because he fell unconscious. It's useless.

"What? do you read minds?" I asked with my left eyebrow lifted.

He just smirked and didn't answer. After a second, the door burst open, it was him.

I was so relieved.

"Come on. Lets go." Mateo ordered.

We followed him outside, walking through the amount of bodies laid on the floor.

Of course Samuel didn't kill them all since Mateo's bodyguards and some members of the mafia were here.

Mateo took my hand and I felt a weird feeling. Safe. I felt safe and I felt that he wants me to be safe beside him, and I am so relived knowing that.

We got in the car and drove off.

"Samuel, call Alberto and tell him to clean the mess in the warehouse." Mateo told Samuel while driving.

"Okay. I will." Samuel replied and took out his phone.

"is there anyone from ours alive?" Mateo asked.

"No. Unfortunately not." Samuel replied sadly.

Mateo drove to a near restaurant. It was empty. I guess he doesn't like crowded places.

"Come on. Lets eat something." Mateo said.

We walked inside the restaurant and sat on the table at the corner. A waitress came and asked us about our orders. She looked so.. sluty? Her boobs were huge, especially when her t-shirt was super tight with a very low cut. Her blonde hair was down and her bright pink lipstick just looked so....awful.

She looked at Mateo as if she was looking at a burger. Well.. she isn't wrong and I do not blame her.

Is she seeing what I am seeing?

"How can I help you Mr. Martinez?" The waitress asked seductively, I was about to puke, and she already knew him, that's...never mind.

"I want one pink Pasta, one chicken salad, and one steak with french sauce." Mateo ordered firmly, obviously ignoring her flirtatious behavior.

"Sure." The waitress replied with a nod, and went back to the kitchen.

"What the fuck? I don't get to choose what I want to eat?" I asked Mateo with a confused look.

"These are the best meals here. If you don't like it, don't eat." He said harshly and I rolled my eyes.

I'll tolerate you because you are in a bad mood.

~!~

The food arrived and we started eating. To be honest, the pink pasta tasted so good. I have never tasted something so good like this before.

"So, how's your friend? Ella is it?" Samuel nervously asked.

"umm, I haven't really seen her since the last time, thanks to your friend over here." I replied pointing at Mateo.

"I want to see her. You said I will have my normal life." I told Mateo calmly.

"Fine. But don't go alone. Samuel will go with you since he practically's in love with your friend." Mateo said with a smirk, which made me smile and smirk at the same time.

Samuel and Ella...how wonderful!

"W-what? no of course not! I was just asking to see h-" He shuttered and was cut off by me.

"It's fine Samuel. We will go see her tomorrow." I said and sent him a wink.

~!~

It was 10 PM when Mateo and I went back home.

When we arrived, there was a woman standing by the door.

"Whose that?" I asked.

"Claudia." He groaned.

I then remembered her. She was the one who kissed Mateo at the warehouse. Disgusting!

We parked and got out of the car. We walked to her and he stood in front of her.

"What are you doing here?" He asked harshly.

"I miss you baby." she said with a seductive voice throwing herself at him. She's pretty much forgot that he doesn't want to see her again, but again, I do not blame her, she has a brain of a goldfish.

"Go home Claudia." He said firmly.

"You are not with this garbage, are you?" she commented, pointing at me.

I was going to give her a piece of my mind, but I was cut off by Mateo.

"I will kill you if you say one word to me, Clown!" I said dangerously, pointing my pointy finger at her.

A proud look covered Mateo's face, and I felt proud of myself too for standing up to this bitch.

Did I use the word kill?

"Fuck off, I never want to see you again!" Mateo continued, grabbing my hand, and walking inside the house.

The look on Claudia's face was priceless.

Mateo entered the house as if nothing had happened.

I followed him, but I went to my room.

I was afraid to sleep. I didn't want to. These nightmares usually come once a month, but ever since I was kidnapped, I started having them everyday, just like my childhood days.

I entered my room and changed into Pajamas. I jumped on the bed and put my head on the pillow. I tried my best not to fall asleep because I was scared, but my eyes betrayed me, and soon, I fell into a slumber.

Next Morning

I woke up, took a shower, wore my work clothes, and put a little bit of makeup. I went downstairs to find some bags. I looked at them and found Mateo and Isabella talking.

"I just got you back, don't leave too soon." His mother pleaded. "Besides, your sister is coming today." She added.

"I have to go to my own house mother. Besides, I have a lot of work to do. And don't worry, I will visit often." He said.

I took few steps closer so that they could notice that I am standing here.

"Oh, good morning sweetie." She greeted me with a bright smile, but I could see the hurt in her eyes.

"good morning." I replied with a small smile.

"Come, breakfast is ready." She said pointing at the table in the kitchen.

I walked inside the kitchen and Mateo's gaze was following me. I looked at him to find his eyes super dark and sparkly. That's a first. I thought.

We ate breakfast, thanked the mother, and left.

Mateo and I drove off to the warehouse. While in the car, I looked at Mateo and he was not feeling good. His face was pale and he was sweating.

"What's wrong?" I asked worriedly.

"Nothing. mind your own business." His voice barely came out.

"Show me!" I yelled.

He stopped the car and looked at me with murderous eyes.

"WHAT?" I yelled.

"How many times do I have to tell you not to yell at me?" He yelled.

"Fine. Show me." I said calmly.

He lifted his shirt and I almost gasped. He is injured.

"Why didn't you tell me!?" I kind of yelled but tried to make it as low as possible. Tried.

"Because it is none of your business." He replied and continued driving.

"It is! Let me help you and I will NOT have a no for an answer." I firmly said.

I could see the corner of his lips stretching.

Wait, is he smiling?

~!~

"Aww, slowly!" He groaned.

"You said you didn't want a drug!" I yelled.

"Yeah because I do not need it." He replied grumpily.

"Clearly." I rolled my eyes.

"Don't roll your eyes at me and always say you are right to me because I am always right." He joked and his lips lifted a bit into a small smile, knowing that what he said is stupid.

"You are sick." I smiled.

"Obviously." He replied.

"Okay, we're done." I said, while wrapping the bandage around his stomach. I was so close to him and I felt sparkles? in my stomach. No wait, butterflies.

"Thank you." he said softly.

I just nodded, and then he continued driving to the warehouse.

MATEO

"Find everything about Callie's past. I felt that we didn't dig enough. Find me some family, sibling, anything. I want everything by tomorrow morning." I ordered Samuel.

"Okay bro." He said. "By the way, when is Lucia coming?" He asked.

"Today, Why?" I asked suspiciously.

"Don't worry man. I have my eyes on someone else. I just thought I could bring her from the airport if you are busy." He said with a wink.

"Fine. I don't mind. She will arrive at 5pm." I said.

"Great." He said and left the room.
