Chapter 12 She Does Not Care At All

Gwyneth could not hold herself back from rolling her eyes at Liam. 'This man is literally crazy. It's a pity, really. Too bad I'm not sensitive enough to go along with his madness.'

"Thank you for your interest, Mr. Luther. However, I'm sleepy and not in the mood right now." Before Liam could say anything, Gwyneth faked a smile, reclined her seat, and leaned against it.

This made Liam mad. He had never taken the initiative to hear someone out, let alone be rejected after making the offer. He looked at Gwyneth, who had her eyes closed, and when he saw her eyelashes flutter, it stirred up emotions in his heart.

Just as Liam was about to continue speaking, his phone rang abruptly. He frowned slightly and grabbed his phone to see who it was. When he saw the name on the screen, he smiled at Gwyneth and answered the call.

"Mr. Luther..."

"Is something wrong, Judy?" Liam had never called Judy by her first name before, but he deliberately did it this time for Gwyneth to hear.

Judy was unaware of this on the other side of the phone. As she heard Liam's soft voice, her anxiousness dissipated, and her heart skipped a beat. "Liam..." She decided to make a bold change of address, her hands shaking.

However, Liam had an ugly look on his face when he heard Judy call him that.

"Liam, I heard you're the sponsor of this year's piano competition. You must've known I'm one of the contestants, right?" She asked.

'No, I did not. Or should I say I don't care at all?' Liam thought. But in order to achieve his goal, he resisted the urge to hang up the call.

"Of course," he said.

"So... Is it possible that you give me a little support? I really value this competition."

During the call, Judy stood inside her room, her palms covered in sweat. Whenever she called Liam in the past, there were only two possibilities: her calls would not get answered, or he would only give short answers after she rambled half the day away and hung up without saying goodbye.

Today was the first time Liam engaged in the conversation and spoke unusually gently. Even though Judy did find it a little strange, her feelings stopped her from being able to analyze the situation.

"Where is this coming from? You don't need my support. You're very talented. I believe you can do it on your own," said Liam in a heartfelt tone, despite them being lies.

After thinking it was enough, Liam hung up the phone and turned to find Gwyneth in the same position she had been in earlier. She did not care who he was on the phone with or what they were saying. Liam only realized this when he heard her steady breathing.

'It's bad enough that she doesn't care, but I can't believe she actually fell asleep.' Both angry and amused, Liam stared at Gwyneth's face as she slept and gritted his teeth. He thought she was either trying to protect herself or just pretending when she acted cold and disinterested toward him. But now, he understood that she was not faking it at all.

'She actually doesn't give a fuck about me. So much so that she did not even bat an eye when I was talking to that woman...'
