Chapter 11 A Bad Penny

Gwyneth ran back to the guest room and sat on the newly made bed, panting heavily. After a while, she rushed into the bathroom as if she had thought of something. She took off her clothes and turned the shower on. The thought of being held by Liam all night made her sick, especially after he grabbed her chin.

Gwyneth exited the bathroom after more than ten minutes, her chin red from an intense scrub. It was enough to show how much she hated Liam's touch. Fortunately, the shower made her feel better.

While unpacking her suitcase, she grabbed her phone and called Wesley. She loathed staying with Liam for three more months and had to rearrange her plans if she was doing it.

"What do you need, Boss?" Wesley asked from the other side of the phone.

"Put the international piano competition on the agenda."

"The one where they invited you to become one of the judges? Didn't you decide that you weren't going, Boss?"

"Make an itinerary and book the flights," Gwyneth said without answering Wesley's question. She could hear that he was taken aback. She then hung up the phone after he gave her a response.

Indeed, Gwyneth wanted to avoid attending the event when she initially received the invitation. However, her plans changed when the list of contestants was posted on the competition website.

[Judy Glen]

The corner of Gwyneth's lips could not help but turn upward when she saw that name on the list. 'How could I let go of such a good opportunity?' She thought.

At the same time, Liam's assistant had already sent the details about his flight with an attached message: [Sir, you are required to attend the international piano competition as a sponsor.]

Two days later, Gwyneth boarded the plane and saw a familiar face when she walked to first class. "Mr. Luther, always turning up like a bad penny, I see," said Gwyneth as she sat in her seat, somewhat exasperated.

Liam, too, was surprised to see Gwyneth. 'This is a direct flight, which means we're heading to the same destination.' After ruling out all possibilities, Liam said with speculation, "I'm guessing you're also going to the competition?"

Gwyneth did not know where Liam was going for his business trip, but her heart went cold when she heard him say that. Not only were they on the same flight, but they were attending the same event.

"Since when did you know how to play the piano? How come I never heard you mention it before?"

Gwyneth had planned to get some shut-eye but was not able to do so with the constant inquiries from Liam. 'This trip is going to be physically and mentally exhausting. I thought I could be free of this man for two days when he told me he had a business trip, but I guess not... I don't think I can get some peace and quiet if I don't answer his questions.'

"What's there to talk about?" Gwyneth said as she looked away from Liam's face and fiddled with her nails. "There's a lot you don't know, Mr. Luther. But I can't possibly take up your precious time talking about myself."

"You can tell me. I don't mind."

Gwyneth thought Liam would be too prideful to keep pushing, but it was clear that she did not know the man well either.
