CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND SEVEN

ZOEY

Sleep didn’t come easy that night. I kept turning on the bed, listening to Graham’s steady breathing beside me, one hand resting protectively over my stomach. Every time my eyes shut, my mind replayed the same thought, I’m carrying a child now. Our child.

When I finally drifted off, it wasn’t the usual kind of sleep. It was deeper, almost like sinking into water.

I found myself standing in the middle of a wide, silver field. The grass shimmered as if covered in moonlight, and the sky above was filled with endless stars. The air was quiet, yet heavy with something holy.

I knew where I was. The Moon Goddess’s realm.

A soft glow appeared ahead of me, and as I stepped closer, it took shape, the Moon Goddess herself, tall and radiant, her white dress flowing as if made from light. Her eyes held the whole sky inside them.

“Zoey,” she said, her voice calm but strong, “you carry more than you realize.”

My hands instinctively went to my stomach. “You know?”

CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND ELEVENGRAHAMBreakfast should have been simple. Bread, fruit, eggs. The same thing we had every morning but nothing felt simple anymore, not since Zoey told me about the baby.I sat at the table with her, watching the maids set the food down. My eyes went straight to the roasted meat. Too oily. Too heavy.“Take that away,” I snapped before Zoey could even touch her fork. The maid froze. “Alpha?”“You heard me. She’s not eating that.”Zoey frowned at me. “Graham, it’s just meat.”“It’s greasy,” I argued. “You don’t need it. Bring her some boiled chicken instead and cut it into small pieces.”The maid bowed quickly and scurried off.Zoey’s fork clattered against her plate. “I can cut my own food, you know.”“I don’t want you struggling,” I said firmly, pouring her water myself. “From now on, I’ll handle your meals. No more mistakes from the kitchen.”Her eyes narrowed. “Mistakes?”“Yes.” I pointed at the bread. “That’s too dry. She needs softer bread. And more f

CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND TENGRAHAMSleep didn’t come easy that night.Zoey was curled up beside me, her breathing soft and steady, but I knew she wasn’t fully asleep either. Every so often, her body shifted, restless, and I’d feel the faint squeeze of her hand against mine before she stilled again.Pregnant.The word still felt new in my head, like something too fragile to say out loud. I hadn’t told anyone, not Ronald, not Hannah, not even Viktor. It wasn’t my secret to share. But it was all I could think about. There was a child growing inside her. My child. The thought filled me with awe and fear in equal measure.I stared up at the ceiling, my arm draped carefully around her waist, feeling the faint rise and fall of her breathing. I was supposed to be the Alpha, the one everyone looked to for strength. But right then, I felt more vulnerable than I had in years.I wasn’t just protecting my mate anymore. I was protecting my family. My chest tightened at the word. Family.I closed my

CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND NINE ZOEYThe fires outside were burning low when Lily tugged at my arm.“Come with me,” she said. Her voice was soft but insistent, the kind of tone that didn’t leave room for excuses. We slipped away from the courtyard, leaving the music and laughter behind. The night air was cool on my skin, the stars shining like scattered diamonds above us. Viktor was still talking with Graham and the elders, so for once, Lily was free. She led me to one of the smaller gardens tucked between the pack houses. It was quiet there, only the sound of crickets filling the air. A bench sat beneath a tree heavy with blossoms, and we sat down side by side. For a moment, neither of us spoke. We just listened to the world being peaceful. Then Lily nudged me with her shoulder. “You’ve been glowing.”I blinked at her. “Glowing?”“Yes. Don’t argue.” She leaned back on the bench, studying me with narrowed eyes. “You’ve been smiling more. And even when you don’t smile, there’s something

CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHTZOEYThe next morning felt different. For the first time in weeks, there was no smoke rising from the distance, no scouts rushing into the pack house with reports of fresh attacks, no restless tension in the air. The silence outside was calm, not heavy. Birds actually sang from the trees. I hadn’t realized how much I missed that sound until I heard it again.I stood by the window, one hand resting on my stomach, and let out a long breath. The baby was still so small, not even showing yet, but I already felt protective, as if every piece of peace belonged to them.Behind me, Graham stirred and sat up. His hair was a mess, his voice rough from sleep. “You’re awake early.”I turned with a small smile. “The quiet woke me up.”He joined me at the window, slipping his arm around my waist. His warmth steadied me instantly. Together, we looked out over the pack grounds where wolves were already moving around, their steps lighter than they had been in weeks.“They

  • The Mate She Can’t See   Breaking news

CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND SIXZOEYHannah was fussing over the herbs by the window, humming a low tune, while Ronald sat across the room sharpening a dagger. The contrast was hilarious. One of them was the picture of calm, and the other was a murder weapon with legs.I stood at the doorway, fingers twisting together nervously.“You okay?” Hannah asked without even turning around. She always knew.“Can I talk to you guys?” My voice came out weird—tight, wobbly. Ronald looked up immediately.Hannah turned, her expression softening the second she saw my face. “Of course. Come in.”I stepped inside and closed the door behind me, suddenly wondering if I should’ve waited or maybe told them one at a time. Or maybe just never said anything and quietly raised a child in secret in the forest like a fairy tale witch. But it was too late to back out now.Ronald tilted his head. “You look like someone who’s about to confess to a crime.”“Maybe I am,” I muttered.Hannah gestured toward the seat besid
