Chapter 1

Author: Jasmine Flower
I was a mermaid and the princess of the deep sea. A hundred years ago, I traded the one thing the merfolk prized most—my ethereal singing voice—with a sea witch in exchange for a pair of legs.

From that moment on, I became the woman Silas Walker loved above all others.

To prove his love for me, he personally cultivated 1,000 moonlight lilies. The flowers could only bloom when nourished by Alpha blood, and it took him three full years before they finally blossomed.

Once, when my back had been badly burned, Silas even ventured into the Forbidden Forest in search of medicinal herbs to heal me. That journey cost him more than half his strength, and his wolf fell into a deep slumber for an entire month before awakening again.

"Annelise, as long as you're safe, I'm willing to give up everything," he had said when he woke, holding me in his arms.

At the time, his voice was so gentle, and it almost unmade me.

But now, all of it had become a cruel joke.

On my birthday, I hid in the shadows and watched Silas entwined with Helena Payne.

Helena twirled the moonstone between her fingers—the same one Silas had taken to a witch to be enchanted. It was meant to protect me.

I wasn't a werewolf. So, even after completing the marking ceremony of the werewolf world, Silas and I never formed a true mate bond.

He couldn't sense my whereabouts or know if I was in danger. But with the enchanted moonstone, nothing escaped him.

Back then, he had smiled and said, "With this, no matter what danger you face or where you are, I'll always be able to find you."

And now, the moonstone lay in Helena's hand, gleaming with a blinding light.

"You gave me something that was meant for Luna Annelise. She won't be angry, will she?" Helena asked in a syrupy voice. "I've just been feeling so restless lately. This is the only thing that calms me."

Silas froze for a moment. Then, he gripped her waist hard, his voice dropping low as he said, "You can use it for one week. After that, give it back.

"You know how important Annelise is to me. If you dare let her find out about this, I won't go easy on you!"

I clamped a hand over my mouth to keep myself from crying out.

So, this was all his love amounted to.

Even so, I didn't confront Silas or make a scene. I simply held my love back and waited for the moment the glacial fissure would fully open.

The glacial fissure, which opened only once in a century, was the sole passage connecting my homeland beneath the sea to the outside world.

In three days, it would open. It was the only way I could return to the deep blue sea and into my mother's arms once more.

Afterward, Silas presented me with a set of sapphire jewelry. Guilt was etched across his features as he apologized.

"I'm sorry, Annie. I lost the moonstone. But don't worry. I've already asked someone to recreate it. It'll be ready in a few days. I designed these sapphires myself. Let them serve as your birthday gift for now, okay?"

I stared at him in silence, a storm of emotions churning within me.

A faint scent of body wash clung to Silas. Clearly, it was meant to mask whatever Helena had left behind.

My lips curled into a mocking smile. "Is that so? Then, you'd better keep your word."

Silas didn't seem to notice anything amiss. He pulled me tightly into his arms, as though he wanted to meld me into his very being.

"Of course. Annie, you're more important to me than my own life."

I closed my eyes and said nothing. If I truly mattered that much, how could he betray me and get entangled with another woman?

But it didn't matter anymore. I no longer needed the answer.

I didn't need a love built on lies. From this moment on, there would be no future for us.

After I rejected Silas, his eyes turned red with fury. He laughed maniacally, and the shrill, piercing sound echoed through the depths of the sea. "If I can't have happiness, then none of you deserve it!" he shouted. "I'll let this ocean burn with my suffering!"As soon as he finished speaking, Silas pulled out a secret relic from his pack. It was a black orb that glowed with a cold, eerie light. He detonated it without hesitation. In a flash, a terrifying surge of power ripped through the deep sea, as if it would tear the entire ocean apart. "Watch out!"Drake's expression darkened as he immediately activated the merfolk's protective power. A towering wall of water rose before us, shielding us from the full force of the shockwave.I drew in a deep breath and channeled my spiritual energy. Before long, my restored voice rang out, carrying a wave of powerful, resonant sound. The wave spread outward, solid and forceful. It collided with Silas' attack, then erupted into a thunder

Silas, on the other hand, had spent a fortune buying books and consulting countless experts. In the end, he discovered a reference to a transoceanic passage in ancient records.Within the passage, violent currents tore at his body. Each step he took drew him closer to death. Even as an Alpha and with his wolf fully awakened, Silas' powers were completely restrained within the passage. He could rely on nothing but his own physical strength.Yet, one thought consumed him. He had to find me and plead for my forgiveness.…When Silas finally reached the deep sea, he staggered into the merfolk ceremony, disheveled and exhausted.I was clad in an exquisite merfolk ceremonial gown, and my singing resonated through the water. The sight hit Silas like a bolt of lightning.Beside me stood Drake. When our eyes met, we smiled at each other. The unspoken understanding and warmth between us struck Silas like a knife to the heart. He staggered forward, stripped of all Alpha pride, and dropp

The second I fell into the glacier fissure, it felt as though I was plunging into an abyss. Icy seawater closed in, but in no time, a group of merfolk reached me and pulled me to safety. My mother—the merfolk queen, held in the highest regard—gently pressed a pearl imbued with the ocean's magic against my throat. A light flashed, and my damaged vocal cords were miraculously restored. Yet, for the time being, the long years of injury left me unable to reclaim the ethereal voice I once possessed. As the princess of the merfolk, I had been meant to uphold the order of the seas and safeguard this vast, blue realm. But whenever I patrolled the waters, my gaze inevitably drifted toward the brilliant coral reefs, my heart heavy with memories of what I had lost.…One day, as I wandered near the coral formations, I heard the soft stir of a current behind me. I turned to see a merfolk knight clad in silver-scaled armor. It was Drake Gibson. His gaze was calm and gentle, as though

Not long after, Silas found the pregnancy test I had discarded in my room's trash can. It was only then that he realized the day he had gone to the healing center with Helena for her checkup, I had found out I was pregnant too."So, Annie is carrying my offspring… Yet, I…" he muttered. "No. I will bring her and our offspring back!"Silas then turned to his subordinates and roared, "Search every ancient tome about the deep sea! I don't care what it takes. Find a way to open the glacier!"His voice echoed through the room. The subordinates trembled in fear, nodding frantically before scrambling out. Silas collapsed onto the floor, clutching his head in his hands. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a memory crystal I had left forgotten in the corner of the room. He picked it up. As his fingers brushed the crystal, a faint glow shimmered, and visions appeared within. In the vision, Helena's lips curled into a mocking smile as she hissed, "You're just someone who can barely

By the time Silas returned home, all that greeted him was an empty room. A flicker of unease crossed his face as he asked, "Where's Luna Annelise?""Luna Annelise went out last night. S-She hasn't returned," the maid replied, her voice trembling. "What?"As soon as Silas heard that I hadn't returned all night, his expression changed drastically. He pulled out his phone and saw a long string of missed calls. But when he tried to call back, no one answered.Panic seized him like never before. "No… That's impossible. Annie wouldn't leave me."He immediately ordered a search for my whereabouts but found nothing. Helena, on the other hand, feigned concern. "Don't worry, Alpha Silas. I'm sure Luna Annelise just went out to clear her head. She's a mermaid, after all. Where else could she go without you?"She spoke gently, but deep down, she wished that I would never return. Suddenly, Silas' eyes lit up. He shoved Helena aside and exclaimed, "That's right! She's a mermaid!"Just as

I followed close behind as Silas headed for the helpers' quarters. Helena was slumped on the floor, tears streaming down her face. The moment she saw Silas, she cried even harder. She rushed toward him and tried to throw her arms around him, but he pushed her away, saying, "I warned you not to show up! From this moment on, you're fired. Get out!"Through her sobs, Helena pleaded, "I missed you too much, Alpha Silas. I couldn't stop myself from going to the banquet. Please… Don't send me away.""You hurt Annelise. You have to leave. Either you go on your own, or I'll have you expelled from the pack."Almost immediately, Helena blurted, "I just wanted to tell you that I'm pregnant. Please don't send me away!"Silas' face lit up with barely contained excitement. "Really? Fine. For the sake of the pup, I'll give you one last chance. Do not appear in front of Annelise again, or I won't hesitate to expel you from the pack."Helena nodded obediently.Seeing that, I turned to leave.
