“So, what do we do now?” I ask as I walk out of the bathroom, drying my hair while the other towel wraps around me tightly. “Go back home? I’ll be fine if we go back home. There’s nothing left here for now until we know for certain that Jackson has returned home.”

“You’re right, Cassie. But we can’t leave just yet. Neither one of us has anything to do when we get home anyway. So, just enjoy the vacation while you can. I have a few things to finish up.”

I scoff while finishing drying my hair with my towel. “What in the hell makes you think I have nothing to go home to? I do have a job that can and will fire me if I miss too much.”

“They won’t fire you. The owner owes me money…and quite a bit. He knows to never touch you or McKenzie. And that means he can never touch you.”

“You bribed the owner?” I yell, arguing as I walk toward the dresser. “You can’t just bribe whoever you want to, Devin! Life doesn’t work like that!”

“And I
