If I Can

Devin paces back and forth. The anger in his face is actually scaring me. The narrowing of his eyes and hard pursing of his lips go along with his tight fists.

“He was at MY door! He came to MY house!” He roars, slamming his fist against the wall.

“Devin.” I nervously and quietly tremble. “We are okay. Nothing happened to us.”

“But you could have died!” He roars in anger even louder. “Someone did fucking die! On my front fucking stairs! And he was my best employee! If he would’ve saw what was coming, he would’ve killed that loser Jackson Cruz on the spot! God damn it!”

“Babe!” I hesitate. “Please calm down. You’re scaring me.”

His crazy-raged eyes look over at me. His tight fists gently stop swaying back and forth as he gives me his full attention.

His eyes connect to mine, his anger slowly fading away. I watch as his angered expression turns to regret and confusion.
