Author: Southern Eucalyptus
“What’s going on, Oscar?”

Camilla’s timid voice sounded, violently bringing Oscar’s awareness back into the car.

“Nothing.” He rubbed his forehead. “I thought I heard Luna’s voice.”

Camilla’s face went pale as she snuggled further into Oscar’s embrace.

“Is… Is Luna coming after me? Oscar, I’m scared…

“Will she hit me? Will she hurt the baby? Please protect me, Oscar!”

“Don’t be scared.” Oscar immediately tightened his hold on her and gently patted her back. “No one can hurt you with me

“You’re getting married?” Oscar stared at me. “What kind of joke is this, Luna?“We never got divorced, and I never signed any divorce papers. You’re still my wife.”“Your wife is dead.” I pulled my hand away and stepped back. “Didn’t you witness it with your own eyes?”Oscar’s pupils contracted as though someone had dumped a bucket of ice water over his head. “That body was a fake.”“But all the legalities have been completed. The death certificate is real. In the eyes of the law, Luna Constantine is dead. I have no relation to you anymore, Oscar.”Oscar’s gaze sharpened with rage. “Do you really think you could just wipe clean eleven years of love with a word? I don’t believe that you’ve fallen in love with someone else. You don’t love Jorge Santos.”I looked at him and suddenly smiled.“Do you have any idea how I survived these past five years, Oscar?“The first year after you started cheating, I barely slept. I lost twenty pounds. When I saw a doctor, I was diagnosed with

Summer Bay.In the physical therapy room of a private hospital, I held on to the parallel bars and slowly practiced walking again.“Luna, take it easy.”My aunt, Gina Constantine, walked over and held onto my arm. “Thanks, Aunt Gina.”That day at St. Mary’s Hospital, I had truly thought that I was going to die. But Gina had made arrangements to spirit me out of that place in the chaos. She found a body with a similar build and used it to stage my death.“No need to thank me. With your mother gone so young, who else is here to love you?”Gina paused before saying tentatively, “There’s something I want to discuss with you, Luna.”“What is it?”“Do you know the son of Summer Bay’s shipping magnate, Jorge Santos? The Santos family wants to arrange a marriage with our family. I don’t have any children, so… I was hoping you would agree to marry him on behalf of our family.”I was stunned. “Jorge’s not a bad sort. He’s courteous and well-mannered, though a little reserved. "Y

Jameson entered the room before dawn. With a pale face, he held up the results of his investigation.Oscar looked up from where he was by Luna’s bed, his eyes bloodshot. “Report.”“Mrs. Stanton was the one who trashed the room.” Jameson paused and spoke even softer. “There’s something else… "Ms. Isley used the surveillance cameras you installed in the bedroom to start a livestream.“She broadcast footage of Mrs. Stanton in the shower.”“What did you say?”Oscar shot up from his seat, his tone icy. “Ms. Isley sent Mrs. Stanton the link to the livestream and said some extremely cruel things.” Jameson kept his head lowered. “That’s why Mrs. Stanton rushed out and drove away.”The revelation struck Oscar like a bolt of lightning. His entire body trembled as overwhelming rage churned in his eyes.…At the villa on the east end of the city, Camilla was on a video call with her best friend, laughing gleefully. “You should have seen the look on Luna’s face. She was like a ma

It was dark when Oscar returned to the villa. He carried Luna and brought her upstairs. When he opened the door to the bedroom, he froze in surprise. The room was in a mess. Oscar’s pupils contracted, and his heart sank.“Mr. Andrews!”The butler, Jameson Andrews, came running. The sight of the room stopped him short.“Mr. Stanton…”“Find out who did this!” Rage blazed in Oscar’s eyes. “Pull up the security footage. I want to know everything that happened here yesterday.”“Yes, sir!” Jameson hurried away to do as he was told.Oscar carried Luna to the bed, carefully laid her down, and pulled the covers over her. Then he sat by the bed and took her hand. “You blame me, don’t you? You blame me for not believing you when you called, for assuming you were only causing trouble, and for leaving you outside the hospital.“I’m sorry, my little moon. I don’t know how I ended up this way either.”Their youthful love had been passionate but also fragile. It could not withstand t

Oscar was frozen as he looked on, like a hollowed-out puppet. It was impossible. Luna was too tenacious, too full of fight. There was no way she would simply die. He reached out, intending to expose her act.But when he touched her skin, the cold seeped through his finger all the way to his heart. His entire body shuddered.Luna… was dead. The realization was like a dull knife, sawing through his insides again and again.Oscar stumbled backward and slammed into the icy wall behind him. He stared at the lifeless face in the drawer, his eyes so red they looked ready to bleed.“Luna… get up! Get up right now! Stop pretending! I know you’re trying to trick me!”Silence was the only response he got. “How… How did she die?”Oscar’s voice was soft enough to be blown away by the breeze. “This afternoon, after Mrs. Stanton’s car was struck and overturned, she bled a lot. When she got to the hospital, she wasn’t allowed in because you had reserved the entire floor.”Oscar’s

[Take Luna to another hospital. Don’t let her frighten Cammie.]Half an hour later, the car stopped before a secluded villa. “You will be staying here temporarily. I have something to settle, so I have to leave now.”After a brief moment of surprise, Camilla grabbed Oscar’s wrist. “Where are you going, Oscar? Aren’t you going to stay with me?”“I have something to deal with.”“Are you going to see Luna?” Camilla bit her lip, tea
