Chapter 40

The Secret of the Moonborn

Diana's P.O.V.

This time I was standing outside the courtroom when I heard Lucien's name.

I had been on my way to find him.

After everything that had happened earlier, I had expected to see him somewhere in the palace, probably surrounded by his advisors or buried beneath another pile of royal matters. Instead, I found myself standing outside the enormous doors of the royal courtroom.

The doors were not completely closed. A narrow gap remained between them.

Chapter 46 - The Prophecy of the MoonbornDiana's P.O.V.The moment I landed on the broken stones that had collapsed into the underground passage, the stench hit me. Blood mixed with something else, like rotten earth. Something foul and ancient that had been trapped beneath the temple for far too long. But then another scent reached me. One I would have recognized anywhere.Vaughn... My mate. His scent was buried beneath blood and pain, but it was there. I realised he was close, causing my heart to slam against my ribs. Every instinct inside me screamed at me to run toward him.My silver-white fur began to glow again. The power beneath my skin stirred. It moved through my body like a living storm, crawling beneath my fur and gathering around my bones.I took a step forward. Then a voice stopped me. 'No.'I froze. Because I knew that voice. I had heard it before. Inside my dreams. Inside my memories. Inside the darkness that had followed me through every door I had opened.'You shouldn

Chapter 45 - When Her Power StruckVaughn's P.O.V.For one terrifying moment, I could do nothing but stare at Diana. She stood on the other side of the Ancient Wolves, surrounded by the ruins of the temple, her silver-white fur glowing so brightly that the darkness seemed to retreat from her.I had seen Diana's power before. But this wasn't the Diana I remembered. Something about her had changed, something I didn't understand yet. Her presence felt heavier, older, almost impossible to comprehend. The silver light radiating from her body seemed to pulse with a life of its own, and even from where I stood, I could feel the pressure of it against my skin.I didn't understand what had happened to her. I didn't know how much stronger she had become when I was gone. And I certainly didn't know what she was capable of now.But I knew what the Ancient Wolves were capable of.They had tortured me without effort. They had restrained me as though I were nothing more than an ordinary wolf. They

Chapter 44 - Between Her and the Ancient WolvesVaughn's P.O.V.“Diana!”I screamed her name until my throat burned, throwing every ounce of strength I had left into the silver chains binding me.I pulled against the shackles around my wrists with everything I had. Then I planted my feet against the stone floor and used my entire body weight to wrench the chains around my ankles. The silver had already cut deep into my skin, and blood coated my wrists, making them slick enough that I tried desperately to twist my hands free.It didn't work. For werewolves, silver wasn't merely a weakness. When we were completely restrained by it, we were almost helpless.Almost. But not tonight.I gritted my teeth and pulled again, harder than before. The chains rattled violently, and the wall behind me groaned.I could feel the metal restraints digging deeper into my flesh, but I refused to stop. I kept shaking the chains, twisting my body and forcing whatever strength remained inside me into every m

Chapter 43 - The beginning of the wrathDiana's P.O.V.If my powers had been able to show me what would happen after a certain decision in my past life, then perhaps they could do the same in this life.I had to try.I needed to know what was waiting for us—for me, Vaughn, and Lucien.I reached deep inside myself and searched for that strange, ancient force that had always seemed to exist just beyond my grasp. This time, however, I wasn't reaching for it blindly. I had already touched it before, had already felt what it was capable of, and somehow that made it easier to summon. The moment I called upon it, my entire body seemed to catch fire.Silver light erupted around me, brighter than anything I had ever seen, until the temple disappeared completely. And then I saw him.Vaughn.My Vaughn. He was suspended in the air, bound in heavy silver chains that cut into his wrists and ankles. His head hung forward, blood running down his chest from the deep wound across his throat. Beneath hi

Chapter 42 - The Betrayal Diana's P.O.V. The darkness disappeared, and I was no longer standing at the edge of the cliff. Suddenly, the warmth of the afternoon sun touched my skin as the scent of silver roses drifted through the air. Somewhere nearby, a stream flowed through the royal gardens, its gentle sound blending with the distant voices of servants moving through the palace grounds. I looked down at myself. A long white dress covered my body, embroidered with delicate silver patterns that shimmered beneath the sunlight. For a moment, I simply stood there, trying to understand what I was seeing and why everything felt so real. Then I heard a familiar voice. "You've been staring at that page for five minutes." I turned and found Vaughn sitting beneath the shade of a large tree, his sword resting beside him as he watched me with an amused expression. I glanced down at the book in my hands quickly before replying, "I have not." "You have." "I was just thinking." "No, you we

Chapter 41 - The Game of BetrayalDiana's P.O.V.I stood at the edge of the cliff, staring at the endless ocean stretching beneath the darkening sky. The wind swept through my hair, carrying the scent of salt and the distant forest behind me. I still couldn't understand why this place felt so familiar. Or why my heart felt so strangely peaceful whenever I stood here. This was the same cliff where I had once stood in Lucien's arms. The memory of his embrace still lingered somewhere inside me, warm and painfully beautiful. But now I knew that this wasn't the present.I was just remembering. But I didn't know what exactly I was remembering yet.Slowly I turned my eyes towards the place where he was still sitting quietly.Vaughn.He was sitting alone a short distance away, near the edge of the cliff, his back resting against a large stone as he stared silently at the sea. And no matter how much I looked at him he looked lost in his thoughts. There was no sword drawn, no guards surrounding
