Chapter Nineteen

Marco knocked on the door to the master bedroom two hours later. Olivia opened it to see her husband’s henchman all fully dressed, like her bodyguard. He cleaned up nicely, she noticed, more refined from the scruffy look she was used to.

“Yes??”

“I’ll be driving you around town today.” He was not a man of many words, Olivia also noticed. Different from the first time she met him, now he talked to her with the utmost form of respect….a part of her hated that.

She frowned, “Where’s Cillian?”

“Cillian is out on his usual business,” Marco answered as he checked the timepiece wrapped around his wrists, “Are you ready ma’am?”

Olivia was disappointed with the new development. Alex was smart, putting Marco on her guard who was much hefty then scrawny Cillian. She couldn’t hatch a more elusive plan to escape now.

“Give me five minutes,” She almost shut the door when she paused, “—uhh where are we going?”

Chapter Twenty-four—Unsolicited cruelty I quickly turned around, not wanting to see the triumphant look on Aria’s face ,as she walked into the circle with my mate. I felt the bond again, this time it was stringent and annoyed. There was a push towards the Alpha, I held onto the hem of my skirt for support which wasn’t enough. I didn’t want Nikolai. At the same time, I didn’t want the disgrace that came with being rejected in front of the whole pack. It was one thing to be hated, it was another for your own mate to attend the moonlight festival with another. An abomination. “The Alpha has rejected his mate.” The words spread around the pack, as Nikolai walked towards the center to perform the opening rites. Dominic came from behind me out of nowhere, he placed a hand on my shoulder, “Go to him.” “I won’t.” He frowned, “Go to him Anna.” “I won’t.” I repeated stubbornly. He sighed and gave me a gentle shove, I didn’t want to move but the bond had

Chapter Twenty-three “You’ll want me soon enough.” Olivia gulped hard as his words grazed her skin, suddenly her panic-stricken self slowly withered away as she finally came to her senses. She thought he was going to kiss her!! She was ready to accept it!! She almost slapped herself for being so careless, allowing herself to be seduced by such a terrible man as himself…and she wanted it!! It was a small part of her, wanting to be kissed by those taut lips of his—tiny, but still mattered nonetheless. It was hard, trying to pull herself together, trying to show Alex that she was unfazed by his petty games of seduction. However, her defiance was nothing short of a fluke. Alex saw the twinkle in her eyes, heard the tapping of her feet repeatedly on the marble floor, found her nipping the bottom of her lip as she struggled to grasp for control. “You bastard.” She finally mustered, unable to hide her rage any longer. The waiter app

Chapter Twenty-Nine—An unmistakable secret “I’m not killing Aurora.” “You have no choice.” “Choice?” Asher scoffed, “Killing a human is an even greater law than bonding with one. Do you even know what you’re asking of me?!” “You’re right,” Reagan sighed deeply, “You’re already in too deep. You just had to interact with a human didnt— “I had no other choice,” frowning deeply, “Aurora is my mate and I- “You had a choice Asher. You should have stayed away before the bond grew deeper and now here we are!” He snapped at me, I would’ve fired back if he wasn’t much older than me. A minute of silence passed between us, I was seething in annoyance and he just didn’t care, “Memory wiping.” “What?” I blinked hard. Reagan sighed, “It’s a very ancient practice, one which I haven’t done in years but if I read the right books we can— “No,” shaking my head vigorously, “I’m not wiping away the memories of an innocent woman. I’m not wiping her m

Chapter Twenty-three—The Night of the Moonlight festival “Strange.” Uncle Dominic murmured as he raised his head from his garden of parsnips and carrots. I sent him a nasty glare, then a sharp “What?” followed. “I could swear your mate just walked right past me looking muddy. Now you are too,” He smiled, one of intuition, “I wonder what— “She’s a witch that’s what.” I cut him off abruptly, before his observation went the annoying route, “That girl in there is a sloth, a witch and a bitch!” “Language Nik.” Language?? She pushed me into the mud, soiling my favorite shirt and pants with her devious juices and he’s talking about language. Uncle Dominic couldn’t understand the raging anger I felt, he would be aghast if I said the profanities about the female in his household out loud. Instead I stormed off into the house and straight for the bath. I took off my clothes and I heard sensed her presence just waltzing about. She would pay, for everything she
