LOGINI checked the time on my cell phone. It was exactly 6:05pm. It was indeed a long boring flight, and along the way, I had imagined myself wearing a parachute and jumping out of the jet. Too bad I did not let my intrusive thoughts win. “How far till we arrive?”. I asked Clara as I was sick and tired. For once, I wanted to get to a bedroom, lay on the bed, shut my eyes, and sleep off. I don't remember the last time I had a good night's sleep. *Be patient. We are going to arrive there soon”. She said, making me sigh in defeat and shut my eyes, before fixing my gaze outside the limousine as I watched people who were going on about their day. By the time I turned around and coincidentally glanced at Clara, I saw her grinning and raising an eyebrow. “What did you do?”. I asked her because I figured she would not have acted like that if she had not done something. She smiled widely. “Don't worry. You will soon see it”. She said to me, and at that point, I knew that whatever she wanted
“It's time”. I declared, and we stepped out of the mansion and went to the cars, where exactly ten bodyguards stood guard and were waiting for us, just like Clara had said. She was really serious. My kids and I entered one of the cars, while Clara and her cousin, Maddie, entered the other car. Five cars drove out of the mansion and were heading to the private airport, where the private jet was waiting for us. “Mommy, I am nervous”. Lily's head was resting on my lap as she said to me. And I was gently running my fingers through her hair. I smiled. “It is going to be okay, sweetie. Your mother will protect you. I am not the timid lady they used to know”. I said to her and didn't lie about that. I am not the same timid lady they used to know.Neither was I soft. I might be soft to my family and the likes of Clara, but that was it. “What about you, Lewis? Are you scared?”. I turned to him and asked. “No, Mom”. He shook his head at me. “I just wish I could give him a piece of my m
Georgina's pov, “Are you sure about this? You did not have to accept their invitation”. Clara said to me, and I clenched my fist tightly, and my eyes darkened. “I am sure about this. I have made my promise of making them pay. And I intend on fulfilling my words, even if it is the last thing I ever do”. I gave her my answer, and she nodded at me. “Very well, then. Just know that I am with you. I will go with you whenever you go”. She assured me. But rather than be assured, I raised an eyebrow at her and said, “Aren't you supposed to be busy handling your family's company? And besides, did I allow you to come with me?”.“Tsk”. She rolled her eyes at me. “Don't think I am doing this because I care about you, Gina. I am only doing this for those little cuties of yours”. “Also, I am not the only one alive in the Norman family. Of course, there are other people who could stay in my place and take care of the company for me”. She proudly said with her chin up. And just as she finished t
I got up from the chair and went after him, all the way to the company’s parking lot. Only after he sat in his car, in the back seat, with the door to the car open, did he say to me, “I know you are surprised, son. You must be wondering why I decided to step down from the company sooner”.I did not reply to him or say anything to him, even after he was able to read what I had been surprised about. He sighed and slightly shook his head, before he continued to say to me, “You are drifting far away from me, Travis. You are not like I used to remember. You have changed so much over the past years”. “Is it because of her? It has been 8 years. When are you going to get married and present my first grandchild to me?”.I frowned and clenched my fist. It sickened me that he had the audacity to mention her with those awful lips of his. Because of him, I did not confess my love to her sooner. Because of him, it got too late for me to win her heart, as that jerk stole her away from me. So h
{8 years later}Travis's pov,“Today marks exactly 8 years since she left Sally City by boat”. “But why have I not heard anything from her ever since then?”. “Why did I not find her when I crossed over the water?”. I muttered and rubbed my palms on my face, before I rose up from my chair and weakly went to stand in front of the transparent wall, as I stared outside. I ran my fingers through my hair, before hiding both hands inside my trouser's pockets. “Where in the world are you, Georgina? I just want to know if you are alright”. I said, when a knock on the door distracted me and made me stop thinking about her. The look on my face abruptly changed from being worried, to being blank. “Come in”. I said plainly, and the door opened. I did not bother to take a look at the person’s face yet. “State your business”. I went straight to the point and demanded. “Mr Travis, it is your father, the chairman. He has just arrived at the company, and your presence is needed right now in the
Georgina's pov, The ride on the train was a bit noisy, but throughout the moment, I remained vigilant and held onto the bank card like my life depended on it. Someone sat beside me, but I did not look to see who it was. After a brief announcement, the train began to move, to a place I was soon going to call home. I breathed deeply. ‘Mom, I did it’. I thought. ‘This foolish daughter of yours is not going to be foolish anymore’. ‘So no one should blame me for being cruel’. A few minutes into the ride, the person sitting next to me spoke. “You are going to achieve great things, kiddo”. My eyes widened as soon as I heard his face. I automatically turned to stare at him and opened my mouth in disbelief. It was the old man from earlier. What was he doing here?! I furrowed my brows and tried to raise my voice at him when he placed his index finger in between his lips. He said to me, “I am not a weird person or a dangerous old man. Or whatever you call it”. The tone of his voice
