Jasper Pov

I was shocked when I heard Amaya say that.

I loved how she could just stand up for herself. Most girls would have cowered next to me but, Amaya stood her ground.

"You got a feisty one there, cousin," Mason said

"Cousin?" Amaya questioned.

"Oh, he didn't tell you? Our moms are sisters."

"So you were hitting on someone you know is with your cousin? Wow, what a great cousin you are"

"Hey, I saw a cute girl so I shot my shot."

"And you missed. Come on Amaya we have a few stops to make."

I turned Amaya away, walked with her into the palace, and took her to the pack doctor the only person I knew that could help Amaya talk to her wolf.

Once we got there, I knocked on the door and heard someone shout "come in!" I opened the door and the pack doctor was in front of the cabinets on the side of the room. She was wearing a dress under her white lab coat with her hair pinned back a little.

"Alpha. Luna. To what do I owe this visit?" she asked looking at us.

"She is a newbreeder and she needs to get into contact with her wolf"

When I told her that Amaya was a newbreed her face went blank.

"A newbreed we haven't had one of those in years, come dear sit." she led Amaya to the table to lie down.

"Stay still." She asked Amaya and she slightly nodded.

She took out a needle and Amaya looked scared.

"Wait you're going to poke me with that?"

"Yes, it's a dose of a mix to break any barriers that are up stopping you from communicating with your wolf." the doctor answered

"Does it have to be a needle?" she asked. I could feel her fear from where I stood.

I lightly squeezed her hand, little sparks danced in our hands. "I'm right here," I told her to give her some comfort.

Amaya nodded her head at the doctor and she squeezed her eyes shut and my hand.

Amaya looked in and out of a stable mind.

"This will make her wolf come out. So she needs to sleep." the doctor said

Amaya tipped over to the side, I caught her and picked her up. She was bigger than most girls but that's what made her look loveable.

I walked her to the room she was staying in and put her on the bed. As I placed her down she started to move. I took off my shirt and laid it down next to her. She dug her face into it and didn't move.

I left her room and went to mine and changed clothes. As soon I was done changing my Dad's mind linked to mine.

"Jasper, Come now we have a problem. "

I walked to his office and opened it. I saw my father sitting at his desk and Chloe in one of the chairs in front of him.

Chloe was a close family friend and my step-inmate. A step-in mate is when the alpha has lost a mate or his mate has died, the step-in mate is meant to become the alpha’s mate, and the pack's Luna. After I turned sixteen and didn't find my mate Chole became my step-in mate which I don't need anymore, now that I have Amaya.

"Come in son." my dad said

I walked all the way in and sat down.

"What's up?"

"Well, it would seem that Chloe and her parents think it's time for you two to step up as Alpha and Luna." my father stated

"Together?" I said dumbfounded

"Yes, your parents are getting old and we are ready. My combat is so much better and you've always been good so we're ready." Chloe said.

"Come on baby," she said trying to grab my hand. I yanked it away from her.

"I can't be with her. I've found my mate and she's the rightful Luna." I started getting mad that they thought I would be with her.

"What who?" Chloe asked standing up to look me in the eyes.

"Her name is Amaya. She was just turned by Jacob."

"The newbreeder?" my dad said in a questioning tone.

"Yes. Her wolf just started to talk to her today. And she's seen my wolf." I felt my voice sound more joyful as I remembered the things that happened today.

"SHE WHAT?" my father yelled

"Why would you show a human your wolf after knowing you for half a day," he said as he rubbed his temple.

"But she believes. This means that she will be luna. Right?" I asked my father.

"No, she can't. I was promised that I was going to be luna. That I would rule, which means that if this isn't fixed then I'll tell my father." Chloe said in a pouting voice.

Chloe's family helped my family build the pack. If they left we would lose more than half of our pack.

"Ok let me think. Son where is your mate?" my father asked turning to me.

"She's resting," I said

"Ok, when she wakes up we will pick this back up ok?" Chloe and I nodded our heads and left. I walked away as fast as I could but not fast enough.

"Are you sure she's your mate?" I heard Chloe ask. I turned around and looked at her as if she had asked the dumbest question.

"Am I sure? Yes, I think I know who's my mate and who's not." I told her. I was starting to get pissed off by Chloe today.

"But we have such a good connection. I love you she doesn't," she said coming closer to me.

" She'll grow to love me. She just found out that shifters are real. Think she can learn to love me." I spit the last part to her. But she didn't back down.

"But we don't know that for sure. I'm here and I love you, I always have and always will." she came closer to me and put her hand on my chest. I grabbed it and tighten my grip.

"I don't love you. My mate will love me as much as I love her. And you will not touch me ever again. Got it?" I told her with a growl

Not only was she disrespecting me but my mate also. And I can't have that. I harshly let go of her hand and she almost fell to the floor.

She got up and straightened herself.

"Let me show you how much I love you." before I could do anything she pulled me into a kiss. It felt nasty and unsatisfying. I pulled away from her and she had a smirk on her face.

"Oops I didn't see you there," she said. Then the scent of spicy vanilla hit me.

I spun around and saw a daze Amaya, looking at us. I was about to step closer when she started to run.

"Amaya wait!" I yelled running after her.

If Chloe ruined any hope I had with Amaya it would be her head on a platter.

AmayaTraining to find the man who has been hunting me since before I was born is more difficult than I thought it would be. After my marking, we started training harder than ever. I grew stronger, not only physically but also with my magic. Although I haven’t chosen a specialty yet, my abilities keep growing. As hard as training may be, it’s been rewarding. Sparring with Jordan has proven my progress—I’ve managed to beat him more than once in the past week. With a patrol mission scheduled for this week, we’ve begun to observe and study different fighting styles, learning how to incorporate them into our own. Watching other warriors take the mat and analyzing how they move to take down their opponents has been the best way for me to learn. By the time Jordan and I stepped onto the mat, I felt more than confident.“Fuck,” Jordan exclaimed

  • The NewBreeder   Chapter 29

AmayaThree months of hell. Three months of training—learning to control my magic, finding new ways to defend against anything. After arriving in the capital and meeting my family, I finally started to settle into the castle.I didn’t want to just sit around doing nothing while everyone else had a purpose. As queen, Lynda was always with her advisors, who guided her on what the kingdom needed and what the other kingdoms demanded. Erica and Brandon were among her closest advisors, so they were rarely around. Isabel was in her last year of education, but she always seemed to have somewhere to be with someone else. Anna and Christian were the only real interaction I had, and it felt as if they were trying to make up for all the years we’d lost—which I didn’t mind.Anna specialized in healing magic, so much of our time together was spent on the best ways to heal. Every witch chooses a type of magic to specialize in, one that speaks to the core of who they are. I hadn’t chosen one yet—none

  • The NewBreeder   Chapter 28

Amaya Walking into the castle, it looked as if it was an ancient Roman chapel. The windows had stained glass with different artworks and designs. We stopped in front of a foyer that had two sets of stairs that split into two with staggered chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. The pillars that held everything up seemed to have been renovated, but they still gave off the vibe of an old castle. Lynda stopped in front of me and turned with a grin-eating smile. Lynda and Isabel didn’t give me a reason not to trust them but ever since I became part of the world someone has been trying to hurt me or kill me. “You don’t have to be afraid. The smell of fear is basically pouring out of you” Lynda said looking me up and down. I frowned my eyebrows and looked at her as if she was insane, with the question of how someone can smell an emotion. “Lynda specializes in empathy. She spent years learning to read people” Erica says walking right to me. “I don’t take offense to it, you’ve been through

  • The NewBreeder   Chapter 27

Amaya I have come to peace with my emotions. The pain, the dullness, the anger. It’s still there, but I tell myself it doesn’t hurt. It wouldn’t be the biggest lie I’ve told myself. I stare at myself in the mirror, not knowing who looks back at me. I try to think back to my life before all of this, about how that was almost a year ago. I wanted so badly to return home to my parents, friends, and school, but now I want to become who I was meant to be. A knock at my door made me snap back into reality; Erica opened the door and walked to me. She wore black leggings with a hoodie; here, she had only worn things a princess would wear. The capital was in Colorado, and even though events on the other side of the barrier didn’t affect the other side, the weather was the same for both. “You ready?” she asked, squeezing my shoulder. I nodded my head and walked out of the now-empty room. I tried to leave all the clothes and other things they had given me while I was here, but everyone enco

  • The NewBreeder   Chapter 26

Jasper I knew it was coming, I tried to prepare myself but in that moment nothing mattered. The pain that was on her face and the emotions that radiated off of her was enough for me to know that the pain was more than she could handle. I had to shift and move around people to try and catch up to her. I could feel both connections fighting inside of me, one longing to be with Amaya and the other wanting to stay loyal to Chloe. My heart and soul wanted Amaya but I knew I could never have her again. I ran out of the door that she ran out of, not being able to see her. I followed her scent into the woods that were behind the building, I ran trying to catch up to her. I could see her leaning against a tree, her silk dress lit up with the yard lights that were scattered around on the ground. She had her eyes closed inhaling and exhaling deeply, she opened her eyes and turned to me. “What are you doing here?” she asked out of breath. “I had to make sure you were okay,” She pushed hers

  • The NewBreeder   Chapter 25

Amaya I didn’t know whether to consider the coronation as a wedding or a very overdressed prom. Erica took me outside the barrier to get a dress that the people of the town didn’t make. Due to the multiple attacks that the pack has had, we got a lot of security. It was just Erica and me, she started to ask me about my life. What was I majoring at college, what was my life like growing up, and what was my love life like? I would answer by being careful not to overshare, but I also knew she was only trying to get to know me so I didn’t hold it against her. “When we get to the castle, I just know Isabell will adore you,” She said looking down at her phone and texting someone. “Isabell. She’s the youngest princess right?” I asked. “Yes, our parents had her just five years after they had you. The wolves that are on the board wanted another werewolf, but the witches wanted another witch, and the witches got their wish.” she joked. We slowly pulled up to the first store, we stepped out
