Amaya

In a land where no one needed or wanted anything for you. It seemed so close yet so far. A field filled with blue roses that were rare to see grow. I walk in a white dress that reaches my feet. I touch and admire all the petals, I feel a drop of water on my head. I looked up and it was a perfect blue sky.

Then another drop, then another, and another. They kept coming and coming. Until I snapped out of it.

I was rudely woken up. I flicked my eyes to open up and I saw my little sister standing there. With a spray bottle.

"What are you doing?"

"Mom told me to wake you up"

"So you got the spray bottle?" I say getting a little heated.

"Yes?" she said getting ready to run as she should.

I quickly got out of bed but by then she had already dashed down the hall and the stairs. Once I caught up to her she was hiding behind my mom.

"WOW. What are you running for?" she asked looking at me.

"That thing sprayed me with water," I told her pointing at the little girl sticking her tongue out.

"Ok, how about you go get ready and then go to school like you're meant to?" she asked though it was more of a  "go do it now voice"

I glanced at my mom before going back to my room. I tried remembering the dream I had but I could not for the life of me.

Dumb sisters.

I dropped the idea of remembering my dream so I started to get ready. I went to my dresser to get a pair of light-washed jeans. I went to my closet and took out a burgundy sweater. I put that on my bed, grabbed my bathroom things, and left for the bathroom. Once I was bathed and clothed I went to my vanity mirror.

Many people are shocked when they see my family. Some even say I'm adopted. My father is white and my mother is mixed. My little sister looks just like my dad but with the skin of my mom.

But for me? It was a whole different story. I was at least ten shades darker. I had honey-brown eyes, unlike my family who had hazel. My mom always said that I was like the midnight sky and my eyes were the stars.

I put hair cream in my curls. Another difference, I had black curly hair that reached to my shoulder and my mom and sister had light brown wavy hair that flowed to their backs.

I looked at the time and I realized how long I had to get to school. I quickly finished doing my hair, grabbed my bag and keys, put on my sneakers, and ran out the door.

I drove to school and met up with my friends and their boyfriends. Once I pulled up to the school and got out of my car. I walked over to my friends and hugged them all. It had been a long summer without them.

I looked over at their outfits and they looked stunning. Rain wore a yellow plaid skirt with a white top and a white pair of shoes. Melly wore a hoodie and jeans as she always did. And the grey high tops she got for her birthday.

"Who's ready to enter the second year of college?" Rain yelled to the group.

"Well not if you blow our ears off," Melly said holding her ears.

"Ok, why don't we look at our schedules?" I asked trying to make them calm down.

We found out that I had one class with Melly and two with Rain.

We had only a few minutes to get to our lecture halls before they locked the doors, and we went to our classes. Sadly I didn't have the first two classes with anyone I knew but after my classes with my friends, I would go home. My classes were so boring, that I almost fell asleep twice on the first day. I was just happy it was lunchtime.

I walked into the lunchroom and saw my friends. Once I sat down Melly started talking.

"Ok, so there is a senior party on Friday. Are you guys down?" she asked. Everyone was so quick to say yes, but I needed to think it over.

"Amaya?" Melly said get my attention.

"I don't know. It's the first week of school, shouldn't we be focusing on school." I tried to make them leave me out of going.

"Come on you never go out, and we can't be your only social life. So a party would be great." Rain said trying to convince me to go.

I hated that what she said was making sense. I slowly nodded my head, yes. They started jumping with joy. I only hope that Friday comes slowly.

*****

To my disappointment, Friday came a lot quicker than I wanted it to. I tried to get my mom to get me out of this, but she said it would be good for me. The school day went quicker too because I only had to go to three of my classes it was a half-day. Just what I needed.

When I got home, I had like a million texts from Melly and Rain. They wanted to get ready together but I was going to do my homework and then sleep, I was going to need all the energy I could get.

My alarm went off and it was time, I got up and went to shower. I don't know why but I had a bad feeling about tonight.

Once I was done. I put on the outfit Melly and Rain picked out over Facetime. It was a black and white striped shirt with a black skirt. But of course, the skirt was short and the shirt was cropped. I put on simple makeup, I was not going to try that hard to look nice. Once I was done Melly texted me she was outside. I grabbed my jean jacket and my white sneakers, I said bye to my family and ran out to the car.

The drive there was unbearable, Melly and Rain sang at the top of their lungs. I think they thought it was good singing but it sounded like dying cats, I was staring out the window.

Once we pulled onto the lawn I took a look at the house. It was a beautiful log house, people were flooding in and out of the house. Cars everywhere on the lawn.

We entered the house and the girls found their boyfriends. We sat down on a couch in what looked like the living room, it wasn't long before I wanted a drink.

I weaved through the crowd of people to try and find the kitchen. It was hard to find a non-alcoholic drink. I found a soda and started walking back to the couch, I saw that my friends were gone probably eating their boyfriend's face-off and the couch was occupied by a girl grinding on some guy's lap.

I started to wonder about the house which was not as exciting as I wanted it to be. Drunk and high guys kept asking if I wanted to dance or go upstairs, it got to the point where I had to go outside.

The house was next to the woods. I started to walk into it, it felt as if I was being drawn into it. With the moon shines into the trees making them shine.

I was walking for a while, I spun around and didn't see the lights of the house. I dug into my bag to find my phone, I turned on the flashlight to find my way back. I tripped over a fallen tree branch. I hissed at the pain, of course, I would fall in the middle of creepy woods.

I got on my feet and kept walking, I heard a snap and turned to the sound. I saw nothing and kept walking. I spun around and saw a brown flash. I didn't know what to do so I stood still. It flashed by me again and again.

It finally knocked me down onto my back. It snared in my face, showing me its teeth with drool dripping down. My breathing was uneven waiting for it to bite me.

Then I felt its teeth in my neck. I screamed but that made it worse, it pulled their teeth out of my neck I felt faint. I could still hear but my eyes were hard to keep open.

Before I could shut my eyes I saw someone in front of me. I couldn't make out their face but it was a human. I even heard them.

"Fuck Jacob. What did you do?"

That was all I heard before the darkness took me.

  • The NewBreeder   Chapter 35

JasperI looked at the vampire, who was now handcuffed, as he stared at Amaya. Amaya seemed taken aback by what he said, as if it wasn’t just him being deranged. She stared at him a bit longer before reciting a spell, making the vampire unconscious.“What did he mean by ‘unite or destroy’?” I asked, looking at Amaya. Her expression was hard—something I’d noticed about her. When it seems she has no options, she freezes to think before acting.“We need to keep moving. We’re still ten minutes away from the pack,” Amaya said, walking to the car, ignoring my question. We put the vampire off to the side of the road, leaving him unconscious. We got back into the car and continued driving. Amaya went back to text

  • The NewBreeder   Chapter 34

AmayaThe one that just started? Did that mean Jasper’s pack was under attack, or were they going to try and overthrow the castle?“What war?” I asked, stepping right up to the gate with him.He smirked before he answered me. “The one that’s going to reveal your true colors, princess.” He said the word princess as if it were an insult.“Who are you?” I asked, summoning all the power I could muster. The sooner we knew his name, the sooner we could start looking for Victor.“Now, where’s the fun in that?” He walked away from the gate and further into the cell.Christian’s phone started to ring, and he excused himself. I turned to Jordan, trying to get a hold of my emotions.“He’s lying. I don’t believe him.” I looked over my shoulder as if to make sure he hadn’t left his cell.“Maybe,&rdquo

  • The NewBreeder   Chapter 33

Amaya We aren’t any closer to discovering who “we” is. Christian arrived in the pack two days after us, and we were able to question the small group of rogues that the guards had caught. They all refused to tell us anything—not even their names—which made the whole process harder.I rarely saw Jasper. When Christian arrived, we all talked about what we needed from Jasper and his pack while we were here, but that was all. Everywhere he goes, Chloe follows. It gives me more reason to stay away from him. I want to be around him, and I know he wants to be around me, too, but we both know we shouldn’t.The pack seemed so much bigger before I left, but now I feel like I can’t go anywhere without someone being around the corner. I needed somewhere I could go to collect myself—somewhere I hold close to my heart. I went to the only place I knew was sacred enough for me to lay down my worries and doubts.

  • The NewBreeder   Chapter 32

AmayaWe put the shifter and the others we had been able to detain in one of the holding cells, hoping that when Christian came, he would be able to get information out of him. I sent the guards to get some rest while Jordan and I talked with Jasper and the others. Jordan and I followed Jasper, Elijah, and Jacob to what used to be Jasper’s father’s office. Jasper went behind the desk, and Jordan and I stood in front of it, waiting for him to start talking.Jasper looked different. I knew it had only been three months — I, myself, felt different — but there was something heavy in the way Jasper looked. His once-sparkling eyes were dull, and a five o’clock shadow aged him. He didn’t seem to sleep much.“What is the importance of the wolf that’s in my cell right now?”

  • The NewBreeder   Chapter 31

AmayaLeaving through the barrier into the human world made it easier to drive straight where we needed to go. Seeing a place that wasn’t the capital was refreshing—like nostalgia.“Missing the lesser life?” Jordan asked from the back seat. We had split into four cars: two headed northwest with me, and two headed south.“Reminiscing,” I said, thinking of the family that raised me and the friends I had made—only for them to forget who I am.“Well, look how far you’ve come,” Jordan said, moving closer and putting his hand on my shoulder. “Not only were you a princess, but the kingdom was led to think you were dead, and you’re also a commander after only a few months of training. I think you have better things to think about.” He was right; I had broken out of the shell I was in even before my shifting. I had to celebrate that.“You’re right. Thanks,” I said, turning over my shoulder. “Anytime. And you should say that more often,” Jordan said, leaning back into his seat. “Say what?” “T

  • The NewBreeder   Chapter 30

AmayaTraining to find the man who has been hunting me since before I was born is more difficult than I thought it would be. After my marking, we started training harder than ever. I grew stronger, not only physically but also with my magic. Although I haven’t chosen a specialty yet, my abilities keep growing. As hard as training may be, it’s been rewarding. Sparring with Jordan has proven my progress—I’ve managed to beat him more than once in the past week. With a patrol mission scheduled for this week, we’ve begun to observe and study different fighting styles, learning how to incorporate them into our own. Watching other warriors take the mat and analyzing how they move to take down their opponents has been the best way for me to learn. By the time Jordan and I stepped onto the mat, I felt more than confident.“Fuck,” Jordan exclaimed
