Phoebe’s POV

Before I could say a word, a girl strutted towards him. Her platinum blonde hair flowed behind her as she swayed her hips. Her footsteps, graceful yet calculative, her striking blue eyes staring daggers at me. She wrapped her hands around him, a possessive gesture, marking her territory. I almost rolled my eyes, but the raw power radiating from her, held me back. “Eric, why are you here standing with our prey?” Her voice, soft like a beautiful lullaby, a stark contrast to the ice in her gaze. He didn’t say a word, just kept that annoying smirk which I wish I could slap off, his messy black hair falling across one eye. “I hope you last a day little bunny. It will be such a shame for something pretty as you to die before I could have my fun.” He patted my head gently, infuriating me further. With that, they turned, the girl’s hand now intertwined with his, as they strode into the school.

The sound of a bell ringing snapped me out of my thoughts, I ran towards a hall, following the crowd. The gathering of Alphas dominated me as my legs went weak, but the urge to avoid revealing my vulnerability was stronger. I could see three powerful figures standing on the stage; one woman and two men. The woman was very tall, her gaze as sharp as a hawk’s. “Dear troublemakers, today is the beginning of our tournament, where your strength and skills will be tested. The top five students will be rewarded and the finalist will be crowned as our Blood King or Queen.” She announced, her voice resonating with authority. The announcement was met with loud howls and roars of jubilations while i drown in my confusion.

I was directed to my hostel by a young woman. Pushing my door open, I saw a petite redheaded girl sitting on one of the beds, her face full of smiles with her beautiful hazel eyes. “You must be new here. My name is Sophia.” She said, extending her hand “Uhm, yeah I am. Nice meeting you,” I replied while shaking her hand. “I’m Phoebe.” She took a good look at me before asking “ So what did you do? What was your offense? I swallowed hard, raking my brain on what to tell her. I couldn’t bring myself to say it was because I couldn’t shift. “Seems like you did something really grave. Well, I was caught almost killing my step-sister. She kept annoying me and one day, I just snapped.” I understood her perfectly, how I wished I was strong enough to be able to do that . Before I could speak, the sound of a bell interrupted me. “It’s time to go to the school cafeteria. Come on, hurry up and change into your uniform.” Sophie said, handing me a set of beautiful white long sleeve shirts and red trousers.

The cafeteria buzzed with chaotic sounds of clattering trays and laughter. I navigated through the crowded space, my new uniform, an annoying spotlight as it hugged my curves. I took a deep breath, walking towards Sophie who sat at a table, waving at me. Just as I reached her, a leg shot out. The world tilted violently. A sharp yelp escaped my lips as I crashed hard onto the floor with my tray. A wave of eggs and fries cascaded down, splattering before a figure.

Everywhere became silent as a graveyard before a collective gasp swept through the room. I scrambled to my feet, a wave of heat flushing my face. “Oh please, I’m sorry! I cried out before looking up at the victim. He was an epitome of handsomeness. His silver hair was adorned with fries and scrambled eggs, which didn’t reduce his aura a bit. His sharp jaw tightened, his grey eyes flashing a touch of crimson. I knew then and there, I had messed with the wrong person.

For a brief moment, I saw something other than anger, a flicker of shock, but it vanished as quickly as it appeared. He wiped the eggs from his silver hair in a slow deliberate gesture, while never taking his gaze off me. “You’ve made such a mess,” he finally said, his voice, low and calm, yet it sounded so lethal. Immediately those words left his lips, low grumbles echoed, and I realized it wasn’t from him. A group of boys circled me, their faces filled with predatory gleam. It was obvious they received orders from him.

I swallowed hard, and before I could protest, one of them grabbed me roughly, his nails digging into my flesh as he dragged me to a more open place in the room. Two of the boys held my hands up tightly, while another one forced my jaw open. “Clean it up.” He ordered, not looking at me. Then he walked away, like what was happening had nothing to do with him. They mixed the spilled food with mud and pig’s blood before my eyes, then opened my mouth, shoving the grosteque mixture down my throat. Tears streamed down my face, my stomach chruning “Stop! That’s enough.” A voice tore through the room. Looking up, it was Eric, the green eyed boy who had saved me in the woods. My legs gave way, and I slumped to the ground.

Chapter 39: Heated desires Phoebe’s POVI froze, every muscle paralyzed, hoping I merged with the shadow. Eric paused, dropping his phone before tuning towards me. With a narrowed gaze, he scrutinized me, something unknown flashing in his eyes. “You weren’t by any chance eavesdropping, right?” His voice was a low, rough rasp, like steel on stone.“N…no! Of course not,” I replied, shaking my head like a lizard. “I was just passing by and wanted to say hi.”“Oh, really?” He asked in a suspicious tone, making it obvious he wasn’t buying the story. Then, he walked towards me slowly. Each step was measured and unhurried. His chin was held high, his gaze fixed on me. The air seemed to drop several degrees, a chill trickling against my skin. His calm approach which completely lacked any urgency made me feel trapped. “If I find out you really did eavesdrop, I’ll punish you so bad you won’t be able to walk for three days straight,” he whispered, his breath hot against my ear. “I…I swear

Chapter 38Phoebe’s POVChatting with Eric seemed to make me feel better as I couldn’t stop laughing at his jokes. With him around, the world didn’t feel cruel anymore. Then he paused, his beautiful green eyes tracing my lips. He drew closer, our lips just a few inches away. Then I shifted my face, the kiss landed on the left side of my cheeks instead of my lips. His gaze lowered, his mouth slightly opened in a stunned expression. “You don’t want this?” He asked, his voice barely audible. “I…I need time.”“You still care about him right?” I didn’t say a word, but the longing in my eyes said it all. Eric sighed, a weak, fleeting smile appearing on his lips. “Phoebe, I’ll wait for you,” he whispered, unwavering determination in his eyes. “No matter how long.” My breathing increased, my heart doing a little break dance in my chest. Then he placed my head on his shoulders, his fingers softly going through my hair. The smell of peppermint was faint, Lucas’s presence lingering in the ai

Chapter 37: Heartbreak and disaster Lucas’s POVI dragged my feet to the tournament ground, each step, a heavy reluctant protest. The air hung with anticipation, but all I could feel was a dull ache in my chest. My opponent was a guy with platinum blonde hair, his abnormally silver eyes sizing me up. I paced around, feeling restless, wanting to end the fight right away. My mind was foggy, occupied with the thoughts of Phoebe. My father sat beside Vivian, his intense gaze locked on me, making a beam of sweat form on my forehead. “Lucas! Lucas! Lucas! The crowd cheered, chanting my name, but it did nothing to fill up the empty hollow feeling. The buzzer sounded, and I took a deep breath. The boy with platinum blonde hair rushed forward, not wasting time. His speed was impressive, hair whipping around his face. I leaned backward, dodging the blows with minimal effort. I retaliated with a punch to his ribs, pushing him backward. He groaned, his eyes igniting with a silver and golden g

I was torn between two decisions: choosing love over my responsibility or rejecting Phoebe to save my pack. The weight of the choices felt like two heavy stones pressed upon me. “Please, Moon Goddess,” I muttered a silent prayer, hoping it would somehow change my fate. “Help me.” Arriving at the tournament ground, ear-piercing and chaotic screams echoed. The air filled with so much energy, excitement and anticipation. Then, I saw her. Phoebe. The sight of her stole the air in my lungs, my heart doing a little break dance in my chest. She looked more stunning and sexy when she fought. Stephen, a guy who was a legend in this school beside the Big Three, lunged, his moves, precise and measured. With a loud growl, Hannah charged forward, slicing through the edge of Aurora’s brown shirt. Punch after punch landed in Aurora’s abdomen, a guttural moan escaping her lips. The crowd jubilated, the cheers, drowned by the unsteady thud of my heart. Blood squirted in Aurora’s eyes when Hannah’s hardened fist connected to her jaw, her head going backward. The game wasn't meant to be this violent, but Hannah was one who never liked following the rules. To win, you have to either knock out your opponent or push them off the circle.Aurora raised one hand to wipe the blood that trickled from her mouth, murmuring something I couldn’t hear. Tension hung in the air, thick with unspoken accusations.“Let me guess. You were hiding in trees all along right? Watching a good show,” I spat, my hands clenched.“Yes,” she replied flatly, her gaze locked on a distant object. “I wanted to see if you’d be able to succeed.”A heavy, pregnant silence descended. “How did you do it?” She asked, breaking the silence.“Do what?” I asked, my voice barely audible.“How were you able to shapeshift into the silver wolf effortlessly.
