Chapter Fifty
Forever:
The next several days were a blur. The Smith’s had buried Edward. Patrick had come by several times to see Ariadne. They were now official and very out in the open. They couldnt be in a room without touching one another. Patrick was now co-owner of the company with Kaleb being his partner. They had been discussing merging or being partners in the company. Danica sat by the dock, dunking the tips of her toes in the water reflecting on the first day Patrick came over. He and Ariadne were sitting closely at the kitchen table talking terms of agreement and partnership between the two companies when Danica walked down the stairs. Patrick smiled brightly at her.

Treasure map:Danica paced the floor of the kitchen reading document after document. She glanced up to the ceiling and she finally heard Ariadne stop moving about, she hoped she had fallen asleep. With the deadline three weeks away if they didn't have the money they would lose a ship and a major contract. Danica felt defeated. Smith and Brothers were going behind each of their contracted partners and offering “better deals”. Always just a little less than what they were offering. The Plan:Danica pulled Ariadne into her fathers office and carefully shut the door. She walked over to the window and closed the shutters. The room instantly got dark. Constellations:Danica stood at the helm and a yawn escaped her lips as she steered the ship. She watched the stars dance across the ocean current. She sighed happily. She was always fascinated with sailing and the ocean. She remembers trying to sneak on each ship her father would take to go on a trades deal. One time she even got out of the harbor with them. A small smile crept on her lips as she thought of the memory. How angry her father was that he had to turn around because six year old her had gotten past everyone. Gone: The sun rolled across Ariadne’s bed and she groaned slightly shifting trying to get away from it. She wasn't ready for another day. She didn't want to dive into the stress and the papers upon papers. She didn't want to have to think about the fact she was failing her parents. She groaned again, kicking the covers off of her. She thought it was too late. She had already begun. She could feel the tightness in her chest from her thoughts as her feet touched the wooden floor of her bedroom. She stretched before standing. Maybe she could just take some time off from her thoughts and work today, she missed Danica and how she always seemed to make everything feel lighter. They hadn't spent much time together recently. She walked to her bedroom door and stepped out into the hall. She glanced at her sister's door which was shut. She approached it and knocked softly.

Notes: Danica stretched, her eyes still shut as she let out a groan in the middle of her stretch. The stretch felt good as she opened her eyes and stood up. Shifting to the edge of the bed she dangled her feet over the edge of it placing them on the floor. Return: Ariadne woke up, drool seeping out of her mouth as she sat up. She fell asleep face planted in contracts. Sitting up one of the contracts was stuck to her face. Ink smearing as she tried to remove it. She groaned as she looked around. The house seemed empty without anyone here. Her stomach grumbled letting her know she didn't remember the last time she actually had a meal. She stood going over to the bread box and pulling out some bread. She grabbed some jam spread on it and took a bite. She needed to write a letter to request an audience with the judge. She needs to find proof as well in order to present to them.
