ANGEL’S POV

The snow slowly swallows his shadow as he leaves me to die.

I truly believe this is the end. Then, in the next second, my body begins coming apart. I look at my hands. They dissolve into drifting smoke, my fingers coming apart into thin strands of light, like frost melting away from a window under the sun. I try to scream, but no sound comes out. The forest, the moon, and the proud snowman who throws me away like garbage all stretch, grow thin, and finally tear apart around me.

  • The Nun's Lustful Desire    CHAPTER 17 — Who Are You, Really?

ANGEL'S POVMy mother’s hands freeze over my blouse, caught halfway through a fold, and her eyes lift to mine with a sharpness I've never seen from her before. She sets the fabric down slowly, as if it has suddenly grown heavy in her hands.“When you were lost in the woods,” she whispers, “did you see anyone? Did anyone call you by another name? Did anything strange happen?”I sit up straighter on my bed. "Mom, why are you asking me this now? Is something supposed to happen to me?"She laughs, but it comes out thin, like a string pulled too tight. “Don’t be dramatic, sweetheart. A mother worries.” She snaps the suitcase open wider and keeps her hands busy, folding my cardigans into neat, quick squares. “Now, tell me the truth. Did you see anything strange around you that day? Or maybe… have you been having strange dreams lately?”I watch her fingers move faster than her words. "You're scaring me a little.""Nonsense." She waves a hand and changes the subject so quickly I barely have t

  • The Nun's Lustful Desire    CHAPTER 16 — Something Is Changing in Theodore

ALPHA KING WILLIAM'S POVFootsteps behind me. I spin so fast my crown nearly falls, my fingers already curling into claws.Nothing.Only candle shadows crawl across the stone, twisting like they are laughing at me. My heart pounds anyway, three thousand years old and hammering l!ke a boy's. I press my palm to the cold wall and breathe until the room stops spinning.“Your Majesty?” A servant fairy freezes in the doorway, her silver tray trembling in her hands. The wine glasses rattle like tiny warning bells. Before I can think, I cross the room and grab her small, flying body. She gasps in fear. The tray crashes, glass shattering across the marble as dark red wine spreads like a fresh wound.I release her.“Get out,” I say, my voice cracked and broken. “Before I do something I regret.”She flees, wings beating wildly. I watch the door close, then stare at my wine-stained hands like they belong to someone else.I am not used to being afraid. For more than a thousand years, I have ruled

  • The Nun's Lustful Desire    CHAPTER 15 --- Recklessness Brought Me Back from Death

THEODORE'S POVI sit cross-legged on the flat stone at the top of the meditation hill, eyes closed, and for the first time in two hundred years, I allow myself to feel good about something I should regret. The wind curls frost around my shoulders. Somewhere below me, Veyra hums with fear instead of laughter, and I like it better this way. I am done trying to be liked. I am done being careful.“You look disgustingly relaxed,” Azrael says, pacing behind me, his boots crunching over the frozen grass. “Do you know what they're saying in the lower quarter? They're saying you snapped a man's neck like it was nothing. They're saying the ice prince finally showed his true face. Theo, you were supposed to lie low. Keep your head down until everyone forgot you were still breathing.”"I'm tired of being forgettable.""You weren't forgettable, you were safe." He throws his hands up, and frost puffs from his mouth with every word. "Safe means alive. Safe means your father doesn't send fifteen more

  • The Nun's Lustful Desire    CHAPTER 14 — The Secret Beneath the Dormitory

VINCENT'S POVA hand grabs the back of my shirt before I reach the quad gates. I spin around so fast I nearly collide with the girl who's been chasing me since I got out of my car."Did you seriously just use me?" Maya's voice cracks somewhere between fury and heartbreak, loud enough that two guys near the coffee cart turn to look. "You won't even text me back. I let you into our room, Vincent. I let you go through Angel's things when Bianca and Juliet weren't there. I told you things I should've kept to myself because I thought..." Her voice breaks. "I thought there was something between us."Tears streak her eyeliner, but the campus barely notices. Bikes pass. Students laugh. The coffee cart keeps hissing steam beside us.I stop walking so suddenly that she plows straight into my chest, and for one second neither of us moves."What's your name again?" I ask, my voice flat.Maya freezes. The look on her face is raw, like I just slapped her across the face instead of asking a simple q

  • The Nun's Lustful Desire    CHAPTER 13 — What If I Never Fell Into the Sea?

ANGEL'S POVThe eyes in my diary blink.I stop breathing. The crimson eye locks onto mine for one impossible second. I blink hard, but when I look again, the page is blank—just cream paper and a faint pencil smudge, as if the drawing erased itself before I could prove it was ever there."It's not real," I whisper to the empty car seat beside me. "It was never real."Mom glances back at me. "Sweetie, you've been acting strange."I give her a small, reassuring smile, but repeat the words three more times, desperate to believe myself. By the second hill before Ashbrook, I almost did.The rest of the drive home is painfully quiet. My diary stays closed in my lap, looking harmless. Dad says nothing. Neither does Mom, though she keeps watching me in the side mirror, as if checking that nothing else has changed.Marta, Liza, and Mara are waiting on the porch by the time we pull into our comfortable mansion. The sight of it always makes me feel safe. I'm home. For a moment, their loud voices

  • The Nun's Lustful Desire    CHAPTER 12 — Too Late the Moment She Crossed

ALPHA KING WILLIAM'S POVThe wine tastes different tonight. Sweeter. The Great Hall of Veyra Palace roars with drums and the smell of roasted meat. Boar steams on silver trays as servants rush to refill cups. Nobles crowd the benches, their jewels shining in the candlelight. For the first time in two hundred years, there is no frost on my pillars, no cold under my furs. Only warmth. My youngest son is dead, and the whole palace finally remembers how to smile.I sit at the head of the long table, a cup of warm blood wine in my hand, and let myself feel something I have not felt in decades.Peace.Real peace. Not the kind I pretend to feel for the council.A vampire lord raises his cup. “To the end of winter!”The hall erupts. Laughter fills the room, glasses clink, and the sweet, coppery smell of blood wine hangs in the warm air.My wife does not join them.Saraphina sits beside me, straight-backed and calm, her sharp eyes moving across the room. She watches the nobles like a merchant
