LOGINLian's POV
Once the exams are over and the results are announced, students move into the real dorms with the others who aren’t part of the welfare program. Those who fail, however, go back home. That meant everything depended on this exam. My life depended on this exam. “What are you thinking about, Lian? Are you perhaps worried about the exam? Don’t worry, exams are mostly based on what we’re most interested in. Everyone will have different exam papers according to their interests,” Eva said as we walked toward the building. What? We’re all going to have different exam papers? And the exam will be based on our interests? Does that mean they’re going to ask me about dance in the exam? Just thinking about it gives me goosebumps. As we reached the building, I saw a few students standing outside, chatting, while some were inside. I glanced at them, but they just ignored me, as if I didn’t exist. Seriously, Eva was right. Welfare program students behaved like this with each other, they didn’t even care to talk. Haha, this is really funny. Eva and I went inside and saw a kitchen right ahead, with two chefs cooking something. We went up the stairs to the second floor. There were no separate rooms, just many beds placed side by side. Each bed had one blanket and one pillow. Beside each bed was a small table with a water bottle on it. Some students were already lying on the beds. Eva led me forward. The bed next to hers was empty, so I took it, and we both sat down. “Don’t worry about food here. They serve three meals a day until the exam results are announced. I’ve been staying here for two days already,” Eva said. “Look at that, a poor dating another poor. Eva is really funny; she doesn’t have great taste in men,” a girl snickered from the other side of the bed lines. There were two lines of beds, ours and the ones across from us. The girl was wearing a very dark wine-colored lipstick and a crop top. She was sitting at the end, with three boys beside her, one massaging her shoulders, another massaging her legs, and the third just sitting there. I tried to hold back my laugh at the scene, but I couldn’t. I burst out laughing so hard. “Hahaha! Look at that antique piece!” I said to Eva, still laughing. As I was laughing, I saw the girl who had been sitting on the bed with the boys stand up and walk toward us. Those three boys immediately followed her. “You fuckers, how dare you laugh at me? Are you fed up with your lives? Is that why you’re getting so cocky?” she snapped. Wait a minute. Why was she talking like this? She had called Eva and me poor too. Did she think she was rich or something? Even if she was, then why bother coming here? She could have gotten admission directly instead of applying through the welfare program. “Hold your horses, will you, girl?” I said calmly, though I was definitely mocking her. “If you have that much of a problem, then don’t stay here. And if you’re so rich, why bother applying through the welfare student program? You should’ve gotten direct admission, shouldn’t you?” “W-what did you say?” she snapped, clearly furious. “What? Didn’t you hear me?” I replied coldly. “If you’re deaf, then just leave us alone and get out of here. We didn’t come to you, you came to us on your own, with that ugly face and your three rats.” She glared at me. But just because she was a girl didn’t mean I was going to let myself be humiliated like this. She probably thought we wouldn’t reply to her. From the way she talked to Eva, I was sure that before I arrived, she had bullied Eva too, and poor Eva hadn’t said anything back. That must be why Eva told me no one here talks to her. I could clearly see what kind of witch-like girls were here. “Boys, what are you all waiting for? Teach this bastard a lesson,” she ordered. Her three slaves immediately moved forward. Wow, just like servants obeying their master’s command. But right now, I felt fine. After everything I had gone through these past few days, I wasn’t going to let them hurt me. One of the three suddenly rushed forward and tried to punch my face. I dodged it and grabbed his hand instead. I stood up quickly and kicked his leg hard, knocking him down with a single kick. “Did you think I was weak, someone who wouldn’t fight your so-called slaves?” I said, glaring at the girl as I stepped toward her. She stepped back in panic and tried to pull the other two boys in front of her to protect herself. But those two quickly moved away, clearly scared, even though I hadn’t hit their friend that hard. I glanced down at the boy lying near my feet. He looked completely fine, yet he stayed there, staring at me. The moment our eyes met, he hurriedly stood up. Soon, all three boys retreated back to their beds. With no other choice left, the girl also returned to her bed in silence. As they left, I sat back down on the bed and looked at Eva. She was staring at me with wide eyes. “Oh my god, Lian, you’re so cool and strong! Just looking at you, no one would ever guess how strong you actually are. You were incredible, the way you made her back off… wow. I think I’ve become your biggest fan,” she said excitedly. I smiled. “It was nothing. It’s been a long time since I used my strength or spoke like that. I was always told to pretend to be weak, I don’t even know why,” I mumbled. I still remembered a time when I was playing with someone and they started teasing and mocking me. Back then, my father had told me to suppress my strength and act weak. He had also warned me not to speak the truth openly. I’ve always had a habit of saying exactly what I think in the moment, without caring whether the person in front of me would feel hurt or not. And it’s not just something I think, my father had been telling me since childhood that I always say whatever is on my mind without worrying about the person in front of me. But that’s not true. I only speak the truth, even when it’s bitter and people don’t like it. After that, we went to have lunch, and the whole day passed in the blink of an eye. Before I knew it, it was already the day of our exam.Lian's POV Hearing my shout, they all looked at me, and quickly Jack and the others left Josh and came to stand by my side.I was standing there when the old man rushed to his son."Son, are you alright? Are you okay? Everything is fine, right? Please look at me, son. You’re going to be fine soon."The old man looked shocked and worried, his face pale with fear for his son.But then, more cars arrived, and I thought, Now whose cars are these? From those cars, Andrew’s people stepped out. Seeing them, I felt a rush of relief—yes, his people had finally come. This was exactly what I wanted. They all had guns in hand and immediately suppressed Josh’s father’s people. Josh was still alive, unharmed.I went to him."Josh, do you remember what you did to me? You banished me from the pack for no reason, just because I refused to let you touch me. But now, when you find out that I was a blessed person, you call me back… You’re such a snake, you know."Hearing me, his father grew furious. He
Lian's POV As he was driving the car, I quickly sat up and started messing with the steering wheel. I turned it in another direction, causing the car to swerve somewhere else.I really thought we were going to crash into the trees, but somehow, he managed to control the car. Then he pulled a gun from his pocket and pointed it at me.“Lian, don’t move! Don’t you know how dangerous this is? Do you want to die this early? And did you… sleep with that guy who came here claiming to be your boyfriend?”I knew why he was asking about Jack, he wanted to find out if anyone else had gotten the same privilege he had from me.I didn’t answer. Instead, I shouted in anger, “Stop the car, you psycho! If you want to die or run away, do it yourself! Don’t make things harder for me!”There was only so much anger he could suppress, and now it was spilling over because of me. His fury was getting out of control. He stopped the car and pulled the trigger, as if he was about to shoot me.“Listen, I will k
Lian's POV "Lian, you are a blessed person just like me. I was also blessed, and that era was a royal era. It was the 18th century, but now everything is changing, isn’t it? Some things, however, never change. Do you know why? When someone realizes they could gain everything just by being with us, everyone prepares to do terrible things to force us. Things happened to me. At first, I thought everything would be fine."“I married the Alpha of the pack. He gained power and wealth, but he began to neglect me as he rose day by day. He started to ignore me, and eventually his brother forced me. Not just his brother, all the people of the royal family did horrible things to me. I couldn’t do anything. But then I realized that anyone who forced me, and whom I didn’t feel anything for, ended up with poison in their body.”“Every time they forced me, the poison spread in their body, as if my body became poisonous the moment they tried. And it’s the same for you. Your body will become poisonou
Lian's POV"Honey, let’s leave from here. We didn’t do anything, and Josh can’t do this to us. We’ll talk to the Alpha of the pack."That damn woman still didn’t understand the situation she was in. Always trying to act clever, always thinking she could control everything. She was the one who ruined half my life, so of course, this needed to be entertaining.I glanced at the bodyguards standing behind."You guys, come here." I signaled them, and they stepped forward. "Hit that woman. Slap her, on her cheeks. Keep going until I tell you to stop."At my order, the guards hesitated for a second and looked at Josh. He stood there, watching us. Then he nodded. That was all they needed.Slap after slap echoed through the room. Again and again. Blood started to trickle from her mouth. When my father tried to stop them, one of the guards restrained him.Well… he deserved that too.The woman eventually collapsed to the floor, yet the guards didn’t stop. Her cheeks turned red, then swollen, her
Lian's POV I was waiting when the car door suddenly opened, and I saw Josh sitting inside. He was smiling so much I could hardly believe it, it was like the same person I used to know before. But still, I just turned my head away."Lian, what do you want to eat? If you want anything, just tell me. I’ll get it for you. You know I can do anything for you. You know that, right, babe?”Look at him, pretending to be all lovey-dovey now. He may have had a bad past, but I let it slide. Let’s live in the present, I guess. I glanced at him."Yeah, I need something, but it might sound ridiculous. Will you still do it?" I asked. His eyes lit up, and he signaled the driver to start moving. Then he leaned toward me, waiting for my answer."Um, can you… banish my parents from the pack? Not just banish, I want you to torture them. You know how they treated me before; I still have some trauma from that. If you do this for me, then I’ll marry you. This includes Arin, I don’t know where he is, but he’
Lian's POV "Hello, sir," I said."Hello, who is this?" Jack replied. Of course, it was an unknown number, so he would respond like that."Sir, it’s me, Lian. I wanted to inform you that I won’t be coming back to the academy because I’ve returned to my pack. So I won’t be coming."Saying that, I pretended to hang up the call, but I didn’t. "Here, your phone, Josh," I said, then hung up before handing it to him. He took it and slid it directly into his pocket without even checking the number. I knew now my plan had worked, they could track my location from the number alone. This was something I did for my safety. And then I started looking ahead at that scene. He was doing something with my blood, but we could only see his back; whatever he was doing on the table, we couldn’t see."Who is he? Is he a mage?" I asked Josh.He nodded. "He’s not fully a mage, but he’s a hybrid; his mother was a mage. But he can still do some magic. And he’s very useful, you know, he’s my uncle."Oh, so th
Lian's POV My eyes were on him, standing there. Jack brushed his fingers through his hair. Since there was a white light on the ceiling like a spotlight, its brightness was falling on Jack even more, because he was shining. His baggy pants and vest made his body visible. Muscular arms looked stron
Lian's POV As I rushed out, I ran with all my strength straight into my room and locked the door behind me. I stood there, back pressed against it, staring at the wooden surface as if it might suddenly break open.My heart was pounding wildly. I was panting, my chest rising and falling too fast, m
Lian's POV “We were in different clubs, so I didn’t think we needed to come together for the ceremony, because we’re going to get separated anyway after the ceremony,” Eva said. And honestly, she was making sense. Yes, we were in different clubs, so it was true that we wouldn’t meet much and would
Lian's POV As soon as Vida and I stepped out through that door, we came straight onto the campus. The main hall’s exit opened directly into the campus grounds. The moment I stepped outside and looked ahead, I saw a group of boys and girls sitting there, smoking cigarettes. They were stopping other
