LOGINCHAPTER 6 - ADMITTING IT (EDITED)
What’s happening? Why is he using his saliva to try to close the wound? Why does this feel good? He continues to lap at the wound, sending sensations through me that makes me want to press his face deeper into me than away this time. He finally pulls his head away but doesn't let me go. He stares at me with a frown then scans my body. “You are badly injured,” he states the absolute obvious. I push against his shoulder. “Let go.” He does and I curl onto the floor, the burning pain in my side has reduced considerably but I realized that there were other aches in places. I had reopened more wounds than the one on my side. “I'm taking you to the pack doctor,” he announces. “No,” I say, as memories flash through my mind. But I try not to let the panic show on my face. I couldn't let him know I was that afraid of what syringes could do. He could decide to use it against me later. “it’s already getting infected, you need to get it treated.” I feel him touch on my arm and I move away. Why was he so hell bent on making physical contact? Other footsteps approached and the suffocating smell of medicine, cleaning supplies and bandages reached me. I scramble to my feet, the pain forgotten. My heart slams against my ribcage, panic coursing through me. My eyes dart around the cell, searching for an escape route but the only one is the one the Alpha is standing in front of. I can’t think properly, maybe that is why I run at him. He doesn't move out of the way like I expected but takes me into his arms. Even when I keep trashing, he doesn't let go. Blood seeps out of my wounds, sipping into my dress and the smell, suffocating me. “Alpha,” a female voice says from behind me. I freeze, my eyes moving behind me. There she is, standing behind us, her eyes wide. A box in her hand. “What are you waiting for? Do something!” I can't look away,as with haste, she takes out a syringe and vial bottle out of the box. She fills the syringe with the vial and then her eyes meet mine. I make one last attempt to force myself out of the Alpha’s grip. “Please. No.” But she keeps approaching, the syringe raised in threat. *** CADEN My mate blacked out before Maria; one of the pack healers, could inject her to fall asleep. Maria scans her cell. “We can't treat her here. This place is unfit. We have to get her to a cleaner place.” I pick the rogue into my arms, and begin heading for the Cabin in the woods. Dorian moves to the side, sending me a questioning look as he has for hours. I should leave her in the cell, let her die and be free from this. My wolf snarls at me for the thought. He doesn't have to fight me though, I can't bring myself to do it. We arrive at the Cabin in the woods, a place I usually go to to get away from everyone. The only place I can think of bringing her to, without drawing unnecessary attention or causing in rest in the pack I lay her on my bed, her dirty clothes staining the white sheets, blood pooling on the sheets. “I will need to undress her,” Maria says, already stripping off her shirt. Dorian and I step into the sitting room to give her space. “She will need some clean clothes and a bath,” I mutter to myself. How didn't I notice she was that injured before? Was I so absorbed in my confusion? The goddess has failed me by giving a rogue mate. A wolfless and almost feral one for that matter. And I’m failing my pack by not rejecting her. Dorian pulls me out of my thoughts. “What’s going on man? you are almost behaving like this girl is your…” he hesitates then adds. “Mate.” “Because she is,” I admit. He jerks back like I had struck him. “Oh wow.” I run a hand down my face. “I know.” He laughs. “Man, this is good news!” I let out a frustrated growl. “No it’s not.” His smile dies. “What do you mean? You have been waiting years for a Luna.” “I have a fiance Dorian, did you forget?” He looks at me like I ain't making any sense. “We will figure something out. This is our Luna we are talking about,” there was a pause. “Don't tell me you plan on rejecting her.” Maria steps out of the room and it dawns on me that she would have had everything I said. The rogue was only in here for hours and she has messed with my mind to the point I'm making huge mistakes. Maria must have noticed my reaction because she says. “I swear by the Goddess that I won't tell anyone without your permission and you can trust me with your mate.” “How is she?” I demand. “I've been able to treat her injuries and stop the bleeding. I will have to come back later to redress the wounds and give her something to speed up the healing process since she’s without a wolf.” Maria hesitates before saying. “I took off her dress to clean up the wounds and cleaned her as much as I could. I was wondering if I could clean her properly and go get her some clean clothes to dress her up if that’s okay with you.” I nod. “Yeah it's…” My mate comes sprinting out of the room in all her nakedness.I know I said I would be back soon, but i didn't exactly keep that promise. I'm back now and will complete the book for the ones who stayed even after all this time. The book is currently undergoing major editing ( I'm rewriting it). I'm going as fast as I can too. The first two rewritten chapters are already out. I hope you will enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them. I hope you will enjoy the whole rewritten version too. I appreciate all my readers❤
I know i haven't published a chapter for some time now and I'm really sorry for that. I'm sorry for keeping you all waiting. I was dealing with some internal struggles as a writer and wasn't feeling the book anymore. But even during the time, that i was absent. i noticed my views and people who added my book to their library increased. It would be unfair to leave you guys waiting. I appreciate you my readers and hope you're enjoying the book so far. I will be back with updates very soon. I love you all❤
I force myself to keep going. “Yes, but if I’d had a choice in the matter, I wouldn’t have.” “What do you mean?” Dorian asks. There’s no judgment in his voice, only curiosity. “I’m a Hollow wolf,” I say quietly. “Maybe you’ve heard of it. Stronger and faster than normal werewolves, and when the host dies—” Caden finishes for me, his voice low. “The wolf moves on to find a stronger host.” I nod. “Yes. Only one Hollow wolf is allowed to exist in a century. It keeps the balance, you know, prevents clashes between two Hollow wolves. Spirits like my wolf, Nyra, search for a host strong enough to survive their power.” I swallow. “A host always has a purpose. To fulfill a destiny. To bring stability. Or to birth the next generation.” Mia tilts her head. “What’s yours?” I shake my head. “I don’t know yet. I’m still figuring that out.” I release a slow breath. “My parents never suspected I’d carry a Hollow wolf. The first pup is usually the one chosen. When that pup shifts for the firs
When the child fully shifts and her eyes narrow at her father, I understand. By the resigned look on her parents’ faces, they understand too. I can’t look away as she tears him apart. He doesn’t fight her as she does it. There is only sadness in his eyes, so deep it steals the air from my lungs. The mother tries to stop her, but the newly awakened she-wolf is far too strong. In the end, they both die. Just like my parents did. When the vision shatters, the first thing I see is Caden staring at me in alarm. I realize I’m standing at the very edge of the cliff. My back to the drop, my face turned toward my mate. His hands grip my shoulders, grounding me, holding me steady. My voice comes out rough. “What… happened?” A ragged breath leaves him. “Goddess, Selene, I should be asking you that. You were just standing there, staring past the cliff into nothing and—” He stops. His eyes take on a strange look as he reaches up and gently runs his thumb beneath my left eye. It comes bac
I’m falling. Falling. I land. I expect my bones to crush against the ground, but instead I fall onto soft flowers rather than hard earth. The sound of pounding paws thunders behind me. I scramble to my feet and turn just in time to see a flood of wolves charging toward me, not slowing, not stopping. At their head runs a massive brown wolf, his entire form engulfed in a bright red glow. “Another hollow wolf?” “Kin,” Nyra whispers in awe. My hesitation costs me precious seconds. I squeeze my eyes shut, bracing for the pain, but it never comes. Time passes. I open my eyes with a sharp gasp. They’re running through me. “What?” I’m falling again, straight through the soil. When I land this time, it isn’t gentle. The impact is brutal, pain exploding through my body as my shoulder dislocates. I pant, fighting through the agony, and roll onto my side. The sight before me steals my breath. Thousands of wolves clash across a blood-soaked battlefield. Necks are ripped out. Blood
My words are blunt. “The Goddess has gone mad.” This has to be the only explanation for this new nonsense. Elder Eira’s eyebrows fly to her hairline. “There’s always a reason for everything.” “She wants me to go feral,” I murmur, staring into space. “She’s aware my human part is the only thing keeping Nyra at bay, right?” “You have to stop thinking your wolf is a separate part of you,” she says. “You are one.” I give her a look. “She has her name and is as old as time itself. She’s crazy.” I shrug. “I’m not.” Not if I can help it. You’re just a coward, Nyra snarls. Just when I think my wolf and I have finally ironed out our differences, we’re back on opposite sides. I laugh harshly. “The Goddess must love using me as entertainment. She wants history to repeat itself.” Elder Eira watches quietly, letting me rant. “If I give up my humanity, what would be the difference between me and a rogue?” “You won’t go feral,” Elder Eira says slowly. I stare at her. The goddess must ha
