Chapter 3

                                                              Aidinth POV   

I'm being fitted for a suit to go to one of those formal balls that our werewolf friends have. I usually hate them. For some reason, my dragon, Rex, really wants me to go this year. If he wants me to go, it's for a reason. Maybe to protect my siblings? Maybe my mate is there? My dad has said that hybrids with approved species are allowed now. I know my mate isn't anywhere in the dragon kingdom. I'm twenty and I still haven't found her. I've been to Luna Abby's formal ball every year since I turned sixteen. Maybe my mate just wasn't of age yet? I have no clue. I just hope Rex is begging me to go for a good reason, and not a bad one. I would kill anyone who hurt my family. That includes Alpha Damien's family. I've known them since I was eight-years old. 

I'm so lost in thought that I didn't hear the tailor when he said I could go change. I stepped off the platform and went into the fitting room to change. I hear my mom come in the room and I can tell she is making small talk with the tailor while she waits for me to come out. I change my clothes and my mom walks up to me. She motions for me to come down to her height and kisses my cheek. I chuckle at how short she is, compared to me and dad. I've always thought that it was cute. Maybe my mate will be tiny, like my mom. 

"Aidinth!" my mom yells. Oops... lost in thought again. I can't seem to get my mind off my potential mate. This is so weird. I never think about that, but suddenly my thoughts are consumed with it. My mom yells for me again. Ugh! I have got to stop this! I shake my head and say, "Yeah mom?" My mom smiles like she knows something.

I look at her and say, "What's with the grin?" She said, "You seem preoccupied. Have you found your mate?" I say, "Not yet. But Rex is getting really antsy about this ball in a couple days. I can't seem to get my mate off my mind. It's weird, because I rarely even think about that; much less obsess over it." Mom said, "Rex knows what's best for you. You should listen to him." I say, "Would you be okay if she is another species? Like a wolf?" She said, "I would be happy with anyone who makes you feel complete." I took a sigh of relief, "Good, because I'm getting a strong feeling she's a wolf." Mom said, "Whoever it is, she will be made for you, so we will, naturally, be just fine with her." I pulled her to me a hugged her, "Have I told you how lucky I am to have you for a mom? You support me, no matter what. I love that about you." Mom said, "Well, you keep making good choices. If you were planning to choose a mate instead of waiting for your true mate, I would have an issue with it." I said, "The way Rex is acting, I don't think I would be able to reject my true mate, if I tried." Mom said, "That's how you know it's real. That bond is no joke."

We walk out of the tailor's room, and I say, "What did you need me for?" She laughed and said, "I got caught up in all the mate talk that I forgot to ask you if you would be willing to carry Brenna and Ity to Alpha Damien's tomorrow?" I said, "Sure. They're wanting to go with us?" Mom said, "I swear, they are so attached the twins, I would be surprised if a mate isn't among at least one of them." I laugh and say, "We could end up being overrun by wolves." Mom laughed and said, "If it's fate, I don't mind." I said, "Me neither."

I walk in my room and find Kayda sitting on my bed. She's beautiful tall blonde with curves in all the right places, but I won't have anything to do with her. I never have done anything with her, because I don't want to encourage her. She's a whore and all she wants me for is my title. I say, "Kayda, get out now." She saunters to me and puts her hands on my chest, "You know you don't want me to leave. I can make you feel so much better." I take her hands off of me and say, "I do want you to leave. I have no desire to be with a woman who has had more male dragons than I care to count. Leave." She tries to rub up against me and she notices that my dick won't rise for her. She raises her eyebrows, "You can't get it up?" I said, "I have no problems in that department. I just have to want the woman in front of me. You do nothing for me. Leave." She says, "I have never met a man who doesn't want me." I said, "That's why I don't want you. I want a princess who is virtuous. Not a whore. I need to know that my mate will be loyal to me. I know you won't. Leave." I take her by the shoulders and push her toward the door. She said, "I can be loyal." I said, "I'm not taking that chance. Leave." She just stands there, staring at me up and down. I open the door and push her out. I said, "If I catch you in here again, I will have you banished. I will not tolerate insubordination." She starts crying, like she thinks that is going to change my mind. I said, "That's not working either. Go home, Kayda."

I shut the door, locked it, and she pounded on the door and screamed. Then I heard my mom say, "Kayda, my son does not want you. Leave. Now. And do not come back. There are plenty of other men who do want you." She said, "But I want to be a princess." My mom says, "Not happening in this kingdom. You're welcome to go to another kingdom and try." She stomped away saying, "I just might try. Then you'll be sorry. I have never been more insulted." I just shook my head and turned around. I called a maid through mind link to have my bedding changed. I don't want her scent anywhere near me. 

I go to my office and start looking at reports. Rex says, "I would've made you miserable if you would have fucked that whore. We will be meeting mate soon. Do not do anything to screw that up." I say, "Is that why all I can think about is my mate?" He said, "I am not supposed to mess with your freewill." I said, "Really? You're not going to tell me anything?" He said, "No. Not until we meet her."

Wonderful. Now I'm going to have my mind going crazy until I meet my mate. I really hope it's soon. I need to know who she is.
