“At first my feet were flat on the ground until they started crying. I tried to turn to face them but they jacked my arms higher so I barely touched the floor. I didn’t hear any hitting but I know they were injured in some way. Hearing them scream was worse than receiving my own torture.”

A sudden yelp results in the children screaming frantically. I lift my head in time to see the chaos unfolding. Celine has Helen in an innocent hug, trying to comfort her as she bawls but she must have hit an

“Did they tell you when this was?” “Early February when most small game animals are still hibernating. They established a meeting area and spread out. They each killed two hares and met her back at the designated place. She led them to a large shack. It was in a stage of disrepair that warranted destroying it but she showed them a hole at the backside. She used it to duck inside. The most senior of the group followed and instructed the others to wait outside until they were told to enter. He felt that all of them coming in would be overwhelming.” “Did he finish the story?” “You know what happened?” He nods. “He contacted me when they tracked her down. I guided them on the best way to interact with her. Encouraged them to help her hunt. I know winter is the hardest time to find food and based on what she told me, her and the other orphans are not being properly cared for. Allowing her to hunt and encouraging our guardsmen to assist her is in an effort to convince her that our pack

‘Parker is driving, we’re in his Expedition. I’m in the back seat. You know how nervous I am with vehicles.’ I can hear the fourth bay door opening as I finish the link with my dad. I’m hoping that including the information on where I’m sitting will prompt him to sit with me as I really do need him despite the anger he’s feeling right now. Parker starts the car seconds before hearing the back passenger side door open, flooding the backseat area with his scent. “When did you get this? It looks and even smells new.” Dad speaks a lot calmer than he had been just an hour ago.“Dad bought it for me when I turned eighteen. I know it’s just a car but it means a lot to me so I keep it clean.” “I guess I know where to find you when I can’t find you.” Dad chuckles as the Explorer starts moving. How Parker didn’t end up with ptsd around vehicles is a mystery to me but I’m grateful all the same. It’s hard enough on me to endure the flashbacks and hallucinations when trying to travel but the gu

“Parker and I planned on going out to one tonight. It’s an hour away in Lynchburg. I think you need to come with us. It’s the best way to deal with the anger you have right now.” He finally turns around and looks at me.“Is there anything I need?” “Just the standards for going out. Shoes, wallet, keys. We can stop and get something to eat on the way.” “It puts a kink in the normal schedule but it will give me what I need without me accidentally hurting Patrick.” I nod, relieved that he accepted my idea. “Meet you in the garage in five?” He watches me closely. “Yes sir. I’ll meet you there in five.”I leave his office easier than I entered but I don’t head straight to the garage. I form a link with Parker on my way up the stairs to my room, alerting him of the change in plans. Fortunately, the sooner timeframe for leaving doesn’t bother him as he’s finishing up his shower. I pull some water from the fridge as I enter, placing it on my dresser as I pull the medication I use to eas

I linger at the dining table longer than it takes me to eat the small plate I fixed from the leftovers in the fridge. One of the first things I learned when trying to overcome my fears of traveling was that I have severe motion sickness which delayed my ability to travel for a few weeks until Dr. Pierce was able to find a medication that didn’t knock me out. Once we figured that out, Parker started taking me and Dr. Richards on short trips just outside the territory. We have increased the distance over time until I was able to travel the full hour, take a short break, and make the trip back without going into a full panic attack. Some adjustments have been made as it’s still not completely smooth sailing but I’ve come far enough along that Dr. Richards no longer needs to tag along.I’m lost in my own thoughts long enough that the sound of the front door opening startles me. I look up from my phone in time to see mom followed closely by Jeremy and Lucas. “Damian!”Jeremy shouts excite

It takes three hours for me to get everything caught up and I’m ready to head to my room. I know they need someone here all day but she said dad has been stepping in lowering my guilt for leaving them. Mila thanks me as I quietly slip out the back door not bothering to fix a plate to take with me. I’m soaked from the water and didn’t think about how much being wet in the cool air would wake me up. I’m cursing by the time I reach my room as I strip off my clothes and take another hot shower. The warmth is perfect this time as I wash away the chill I picked up traveling outside. I find my eyes closing and my head flopping hard before I leave the heat, drying myself briskly before putting a pair of boxers and fleece pants on before climbing into bed. * * * * * * * *I slowly open my eyes as I come around from my sleep. I can tell that it wasn’t enough as I yawn hard enough to make

I leave the shower just as frustrated as I started. I growl in frustration as I scrub a towel over my ink black hair leaving it disheveled and slightly damp. I’m struggling to contain my frustration as I pull my clothes from my dresser. I’m already planning a trip to the rage room Parker found. We’ve been going almost weekly as my frustration with this female's scent has steadily increased. I’m just hoping that he’s not busy as I have no idea how I’m going to get through today when I feel the need to put my fist through the wall.I slip on a shirt and pair of shorts knowing that the morning air still holds a decent chill. I slide into my shoes sitting just outside my door before quietly heading downstairs. I know it’s too early to eat at the dining hall but I also know that the morning shift is already there fixing breakfast and I’m certain they would welcome some help. I take several shortcuts, starting with heading towards the back of the house. Every wing has a back door and I

“My best guess is the individuals that you unknowingly targeted had enough interaction with Savannah that your wolf could smell her. The problem is, if he smells blood mixed with her scent it will cause him to attack in an effort to protect her.” I explain my thoughts slowly. “Even if she’s not ph

Saturday, October 8th, 2017(Damian’s POV)It’s been ten weeks since Parker, Patrick and I learned the truth behind the desperation that those fleeing Blue Ridge are experiencing. I’ve had a difficult time accepting the fact that the pack alpha, Alrik, is purposely killing members to create orphans

“You didn’t want to do it, did you?” “No.” I sigh as I try to figure out the best way to explain my thoughts. “I pointed out several times the possibility that this could happen to the council. They denied that it was a point even worth bringing up as you had not been abused. I explained several

“I immediately requested that the high council tribunal go over your case citing that making an example out of a minor child was cruel and inappropriate punishment. Four days later, a week after your attack I was conferencing with them. At first they were steadfast on the adult level of punishment.
