“Boss,” Tony’s call stopped Talen as he stepped out of the mine and squinted as his eyes adjusted to the sharp sun after the dimness of the shaft.

“Tony,” Talen crossed to him, stepping over the metal tracks that the mining carts ran on. “They’ve hit another vein.”

“That’s good news,” Tony agreed, but his expression was grim. “There’s a situation in the office.”

Talen’s eyebrows raised. “A situation in my office?”

“Mhm,” Tony hunched his shoulders. “One of the miner’s wives and her daughter.”

“I’m not sure I understand,” Talen started towards the office, wiping his hands against his trousers although it didn’t seem to make a difference to the ingrained dirt of his hands. It's sad that this is still happening. Children are raped by their parent, step-parent, or foster parent, and the other parent finds out and either denies it, turns a blind eye, or blames the child. Not enough people do the right thing. Mrs. Cline has her reasons, but this is still wrong

Wow, this is horrendous!! I know this is a story, but my goodness, Mrs. Cline, if I were in your shoes, that man would go painfully if catch my drift . And she sits there blaming her daughter, who was a victim letting your husband is off the hook. You're a coward Mrs.Cline & should both be shamed
